A £2m grant is set to kickstart road safety improvements at a ‘crash blackspot’ in Leeds.

00:22Leeds City Council say the cash will be used to reduce accidents on the A58 Rounday Road.
00:27Ninety casualties and one death have been recorded at the Rounday Road, Barrack Road and Bayswater Triangle.
00:34A grant from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority is set to help fund the project, worth £4.5m in total.
00:42The scheme includes new pedestrian crossings, cycle lanes and bus lanes around Bayswater Road, Spencer Place, Roseville Road and Gladhow

00:51A council spokesperson said the measures aim to improve safety at key junctions along the route,
00:57making it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle in the area and to protect buses from queuing traffic.
01:04As part of the project, some bus stops will be moved to reduced journey times,

01:14A public consultation was carried out on the proposals, which are set to be implemented by winter 2027.
