Couva South Member of Parliament Rudranath Indarsingh didn't anticipate that he would have been replaced as the candidate for the constituency he has served for over a decade.
Nonetheless, he is expressing confidence in the Leader of the Opposition and the United National Congress' ability to govern the country.

00:07Town MP Barry Podaras, as the UNC's prospective candidate for this constituency in the upcoming
00:13general election. Indarsingh pointed to principles that he adopted from his parents in a statement
00:19he issued today. Indarsingh says his parents, Bisun and Tara, remained committed and steadfast
00:27to create a better life for him and his siblings, regardless of unforeseen changes in their
00:32direction, and he signals an intention to do the same. Indarsingh says the past 24 hours
00:38has been filled with an outpouring of, quote, support, encouragement, guidance and gratitude
00:44coming from countless persons in Kuva South, the wider country, and persons abroad, upon
00:49hearing I have been replaced as our party's candidate for Kuva South. Like my parents,
00:55I understand that unexpected changes are part of life, and these changes challenge
01:00us to grow even more, end quote. He expresses gratitude to UNC leader Kamala Prasad Bisesa
01:06for the time he was given to serve. He further refers to himself as a child of the UNC, saying
01:12the DNA of the party is in his veins. Indarsingh is also thanking his constituents, whom he
01:17states he has grown very close to, describing them as family and friends. The outgoing MP
01:24describes the present times as dark, and he says, quote, when it comes to a party that
01:30can take this country into a bright, secure, prosperous new future, the United National
01:35Congress is the only party that can carry it. Service is labor standing with the people,
01:41and I stand with you as UNC and proud, end quote. Indarsingh was first elected as Kuva
01:47South MP in 2010 under the People's Partnership government, and he has held on to the seat
01:52until now. The change was announced by opposition leader Kamala Prasad Bisesa on Monday. Alicia
