00:00National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hines was at work in his constituency on
00:03Saturday, two days after Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley confirmed that Mr.
00:08Hines would not be seeking re-election as the MP for Laventille West in the
00:12next general election. Minister Hines expressed gratitude at being invited to
00:17speak at the ceremony for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between
00:21the Rotary Club of Central Port of Spain and the Interagency Task Force for the
00:26Beetham Vibrations Steel Orchestra. As Minister of National Security, as the
00:30Master of Ceremonies just said, these eyes have seen and these ears have heard
00:37some pretty ugly things about Trinidad and Tobago, the region and the world. So
00:44it is particularly good, particularly refreshing when I attend a function such
00:50as this and see only that which is good. And just one day earlier, Minister Hines
00:56appeared to be in a good mood in the Senate as he responded to an
01:00acknowledgement from one member of the opposition that he has withdrawn his
01:04nomination to again contest the Laventille West constituency for the
01:08PNM. The National Security Minister was responding to a question from Leader of
01:13Opposition Business, Wade Mark.
01:15Question number five to the Honourable Minister of National Security.
01:24Minister of National Security.
01:30Mr. President, it is rather interesting to note that I am moving on from 30 years of representative service as politic
01:39A sphere, a field in which the Honourable Senator never got started.
01:52Politically stillborn.
02:03The next general election is due next year, 2025, and we'll see a new candidate for the PNM in Laventille West.
