Transcript
00:00Gerard Small, the Congress of the People's candidate for St. Anne's East in the 2025 general election,
00:07is among nine people appointed to serve on the board of TNTech.
00:10He ran against the PNM's Dr. Nian Gatsby-Dawley, who retained her seat.
00:14The nine board members received their appointment letters from Public Utilities Minister Barry Pinarath
00:19at Cabildo Chambers on June 18th and are set to receive their instruments of appointment on Monday, June 23rd.
00:27Small, formerly a radio host known as Mr. X, is the only one of the two COP candidates,
00:34the other being Kurt Sennett, to receive such a post.
00:37So how are you feeling?
00:39I'm feeling great because Kamla Pasadis has not shunned us in any way.
00:47She has, from the beginning to the end, she has took her with us, with all of us, you know, as a team,
00:53and she promised us board positions, even though we were not successful in the general election.
00:59So she promised us board positions, and I was the first to get an A-class board of TNTech.
01:06So that is an accomplishment for me, I would say, and for the party also, too, for COP,
01:11because she would have lived up to her promise.
01:13Small reveals that he got a call last Thursday from the Public Utilities Ministry,
01:18but initially was unsure of what board he would have been appointed to,
01:23having selected four boards of personal preference.
01:26We got a choice to pick which one we would like to be on.
01:29What were the others?
01:31HEC, CPIP, NCC, and along with TTT.
01:37Small says he made those choices because of his background in media and real estate.
01:42As for what he's hoping to bring to the board of TNTech, comprising people whom he says have diverse skills.
01:49My specific skill set is that I have worked 20 years in oil industry, oil and gas industry.
01:55I've worked for BP.
01:56I've worked on every platform in BP over the years.
01:58So I am pretty skilled.
02:00I was a senior HSC advisor slash engineer for BP for a number of years.
02:04So I have that qualification and also the ERCM, which is the Emergency Response and Crisis Management,
02:12in terms of training from management right down to response and communications.
02:18He expects that the promise to other coalition partners will also be kept,
02:22as he states that there are still many boards to be appointed.
02:26According to Small, the first meeting of the new TNTech board will take place on June 24th.
02:31He adds that there are about four areas they have been mandated by Minister Pudarath to look at,
02:37which he is unable to divulge at this time.
