00:00Foundation member of the Congress of the People Wendell Eversley is challenging the appointment
00:05of Prakash Ramada as interim leader of the party.
00:09He says the decision last month by the former leader Kirk Sennett to step down and hand
00:14over the office to Mr. Ramada was unconstitutional.
00:19In a letter from his attorney to the COP chairman Lonsdale Williams, Eversley states, quote,
00:25It is evident that Mr. Sennett, having resigned office, acted ultra-virus the constitution
00:31in taking it upon himself to appoint Mr. Ramada as political leader, end quote.
00:37He says Sennett's resignation on the 17th of December 2024 prevented him from making
00:43any further decisions as political leader.
00:47Eversley wants the Congress of the People to lead by example and is calling upon the
00:51National Council to summon a special conference of the National Assembly to elect a political
00:57leader or appoint one of the deputy leaders to act as political leader in the interim.
01:03Eversley's attorney warns that he intends to initiate swift legal action should a party
01:09fail to be guided by its constitution in the selection of an interim political leader or
01:15political leader.
