The United National Congress says it has selected a candidate to contest a marginal seat in the East/West Corridor as the party gears up for the upcoming General Election.

00:00The UNC announced that Philip Watts is to be its candidate for the marginal seat of
00:05Lahore-Ketatau Paro in the upcoming 2025 general election.
00:10The UNC's announcement via a media statement was accompanied by a photo of opposition leader
00:15Kamala Prasad Bissessa, the UNC's political leader, shaking hands with Mr. Watts.
00:20Lahore-Ketatau Paro is presently represented by the Minister of Youth Development and National
00:25Service Foster Cummings since he won the marginal seat for the PNM in the 2020 general election.
00:32Minister Cummings is the PNM's prospective candidate for Lahore-Ketatau Paro.
00:36The UNC said Mr. Watts is an established businessman with 23-plus years in leadership, business,
00:43project management and politics, who has successfully driven growth and development in a wide range
00:49of business and political endeavors locally and abroad.
00:52The UNC also said Mr. Watts holds an Executive Master's in Business Administration from the
00:58Arthur Lockjack Global School of Business.
01:01The opposition party further said that as it approaches what it calls a crucial general
01:05election, it continues its screening process and party mobilization.
