00:00National Transformation Alliance candidate for Arima Shekina Serju was
00:04the first to file her nomination papers just before 9 a.m. Serju who was
00:09announced by the NTA on Wednesday tells TV6 News it is still very surreal for
00:14her adding that the process went well in part due to the preparation done by her
00:19team. I had all documents needed so there were no issues with me being nominated.
00:25Arima is my hometown. It's a place that I hold near and dear to my heart. I am
00:30all about transformation and the NTA represents transformation.
00:41People's National Movement candidate and incumbent MP Penelope Beckles-Robinson
00:46is accustomed to the nomination process. Joining her was a relatively large crowd
00:51of supporters and with them the fanfare. Beckles-Robinson outlined several areas
00:56of focus should she be elected once again.
01:01She is thanking the police for what she says has been a vast reduction in
01:21murders under North Coast. According to Beckles-Robinson other aspects include
01:26sporting facilities, the administrative complex to bring social welfare closer
01:31to Arimians, roads for the North Coast and the improvement of the health
01:35facilities. She tells us her campaign will be launching tonight. Arima is
01:41generally considered a safe seat having gone only once to another political party
01:45and that was the Congress of the People which was part of the People's
01:48Partnership Coalition in 2010. UNC candidate for Arima Nigel Moses who was
01:54also accompanied by supporters believes it can happen again.
02:00Arima stopped being a safe seat since the last local election. We have
02:04identified that the trend have been very new direction of the Arima UNC in
02:10support of the Arima constituency executive. That continued to spiral based
02:17on the work that we would have done. Among his plans, homework centers, crime,
02:22infrastructure including drainage and land for the landless for Arimians. And
02:28political leader of the National Coalition for Transformation Nalini
02:31Dial is also in the 2025 general election race for what is her second
02:36attempt to represent Arimians in the parliament. She made a decision two days
02:41ago. For the last five years it's the same problems coming back again. So we
02:45said we have to be in it, give the people another choice for better
02:50representation. The Mikayla Pandey-led Patriotic Front is contesting Arima and
02:55has put forward Jemina Lizama. Our cameras did not catch Lizama filing her
03:00nomination papers. TV6 News did not receive any reports of problems on the
03:05part of the returning officer for Arima. Alicia Boucher, TV6 News.
