Transcript
00:00Come April 28th, polling day, Princestown MP Barry Podarot will run in Coover South
00:06for the United National Congress in place of Rudranath Indarsingh.
00:10The party has not announced its future plans for Indarsingh, but the move has taken some
00:15constituents by surprise.
00:17One such person is doubles vendor Sachin Ramdath.
00:21That surprised me plenty because he does do plenty for the community.
00:24Everything.
00:25He does help out.
00:28So I don't know, this country going to the dogs right now, I mean, really.
00:32Ramdath says to find politicians who are service-centered is not commonplace.
00:37But according to him, Indarsingh was able to set himself apart.
00:40What are some of the things that he would have done?
00:43He, like any community problems, he would try to help out.
00:49Somebody passed away in Texas.
00:52Somebody passed away in my family.
00:53He don't even know the family.
00:54He attended every single funeral.
00:56Businessman Aden Marchan, who has lived in the area for 30 years, has a slightly different
01:02view, but there is one area of consistency.
01:05To tell you the truth, well, none of my enemies really did anything for me around this area.
01:13But it's a shock to me to know that, you know, he had left.
01:20As simple as to clean the drain or do something, it's always a hectic thing.
01:27Marchan tells us he will be keeping an eye on that and what is done to address crime
01:31in the area from any new representative that the constituency receives.
01:36Stephan Siratan had no idea about the change until we approached him.
01:41He describes Indarsingh as the man.
01:45So he was definitely a representative that was always on the ground with his constituents.
01:49On the ground, correct.
01:50And the youth, as well as the people, have always had it with Rudy.
01:54So we don't know what's going on now.
01:56I was shocked when you told me that, I knew it was in my ears.
02:00While Cuva South is traditionally considered a safe seat for the UNC, Siratan says Padarath
02:07has big shoes to fill.
02:08Rudy did some things that nobody in the government ever even did.
02:13Like what?
02:14I mean, drainage, certain flooding, certain assistance to people.
02:20The government never even helped nobody.
02:22Rudy came out and he owned and helped people.
02:25So he had to prove himself.
02:26Once he proved himself, he had a winning seat.
