Let's take in this roundup of events now from the Police Commissioner.
Transcript
00:00As we approach the climax of the penultimate day of Carnival 2026,
00:05the Triantobago Police Service continues to maintain a strong, visible, and strategic presence across all major events.
00:12Over the past several days, we successfully supported Panorama Finals, Kiddie's Carnival, and last night's Dimash Gra,
00:19all of which unfolded with high energy, national pride, and largely responsible behavior from the public.
00:25This morning's juve celebrations were similarly vibrant, with thousands of citizens and visitors enjoying themselves safely.
00:34However, we did record two persons being wounded in a shooting incident, as well as one fatality resulting from a
00:41stabbing.
00:42At this time, we have no information that these incidents are Carnival-related.
00:48Initial reports indicate that they are more likely spillover from ongoing gang-related retaliatory violence.
00:56The TTPS will continue to pursue all leads and maintain heightened operational pressure on the individuals and groups responsible for
01:05these acts.
01:05As we end Carnival Monday, parade celebrations, and prepare for Monday Night Mass and tomorrow's Parade of the Bands,
01:14I again urge members of the motoring public to exercise extreme caution on the nation's roads.
01:22We have already recorded a couple road fatalities, and these tragedies are preventable.
01:29And I am appealing to all drivers, again, slow down, stay alert, and do not drink and drive.
01:37I am also calling on parents and guardians to be vigilant with their teenage children.
01:42We have seen an increase in reports of teenagers being heavily intoxicated.
01:48Some brought to police stations unconscious, others behaving disorderly, and in one instance,
01:54two of them locked themselves in a portable toilet and began to cry.
01:57This is deeply concerning, as Carnival is a time of celebration, but our young people must be protected, supervised, and
02:06guided.
02:07The TTPS remains fully mobilized and committed to ensuring a safe and enjoyable Carnival for all.
02:15We thank the public for their cooperation thus far, and ask that you continue to partner with us
02:21as we move into the final and most intense phase of the season.
02:25Let us celebrate responsibly, look out for one another, and ensure that Carnival 2026 remains a showcase of our culture,
02:34creativity, and national unity.
