00:00 Hello there, welcome to your latest weekend weather update.
00:03 Well, it has felt like spring has sprung across the UK
00:06 for the past few days.
00:07 However, it is set to change for the weekend for some areas,
00:11 particularly across the south, where some rain is likely
00:13 throughout the weekend.
00:14 That's as low pressure will arrive from the southwest
00:17 by the end of the week.
00:19 Around that area of low pressure,
00:21 there are a series of weather fronts as well,
00:23 and those will bring the focus for some periods of heavier
00:26 rainfall as well through the weekend.
00:28 Through Friday night, this first weather front
00:30 will arrive into the southwest, bringing the first batch
00:33 of rain.
00:33 To the north of that, though, we're
00:34 well away from the area of low pressure
00:36 and from those weather fronts.
00:38 We will continue to see quite a keen easterly breeze,
00:41 bringing that cooler feel to eastern coasts
00:43 and also a much cloudier picture to the northeast.
00:46 So across many eastern areas of Scotland,
00:48 northeastern England as well, it will
00:50 be a cloudy start to the weekend,
00:52 some drizzly rain is likely.
00:53 Across the north and west, though,
00:54 will be, as it has been over the past few days,
00:57 much drier and brighter.
00:58 So parts of western Scotland, northwest England,
01:00 and Northern Ireland will see a fairly dry and bright picture
01:03 through much of the weekend.
01:05 But it will be quite a lot breezier through Saturday
01:08 with some gusty winds expected over the high ground.
01:11 So across the south, though, we will see a much cloudier start
01:14 to the weekend with some rain.
01:15 The rain will be fairly light through the morning,
01:18 but it will bring with it quite a lot of low cloud
01:20 to many areas of central England, parts of Wales, too.
01:23 During around lunchtime to mid-afternoon,
01:25 it will brighten up for a time.
01:26 So there will still be some sunshine through Saturday,
01:29 and it will feel fairly pleasant in that sunshine.
01:31 But that could also allow some showers
01:34 to break out across the south coast that
01:35 could turn fairly heavy.
01:38 So wherever you are, it's likely to be fairly cloudy,
01:40 especially away from that northwest coast.
01:43 And it will still feel fairly chilly in that onshore breeze
01:46 from the chilly North Sea across the east coast.
01:49 But as I said, in the south, for a time in the afternoon,
01:52 in any of those sunnier breaks, it
01:54 will still feel fairly pleasant.
01:56 But there is still quite a brisk breeze.
01:59 That area of rain will likely push north
02:01 to cover many areas of Wales, central southern England
02:04 throughout Saturday night.
02:05 So it's going to be quite a damp and cloudy night.
02:07 The winds stay fairly brisk as well across the north and east.
02:11 So that will continue to drag in quite a lot of cloud
02:14 across many northeastern areas, as well as
02:16 some further drizzly showers.
02:18 There will fall a snow above around 300 metres
02:21 throughout the weekend.
02:22 So still some flurries of snow to come for the weekend
02:24 for these areas.
02:25 But because we have got plenty of cloud around
02:27 and a fairly brisk breeze, it will be frost free.
02:30 Still not particularly mild for the time of year,
02:33 but certainly not as chilly a start
02:35 as we've had for the past few days.
02:37 But it is going to be quite a wet start
02:38 to the day for some areas of northern England, north Wales
02:42 on Sunday morning.
02:43 Further south, quite a lot of cloud around, a risk
02:45 of some showers breaking out, particularly
02:48 in any of those sunnier spells that we do
02:50 start to see developing across the south and west.
02:53 Across the southeast as well, the rain
02:55 may turn fairly persistent.
02:56 There could be some heavy bursts.
02:57 So where we do see more persistent rain
02:59 across parts of England and eastern areas of Wales,
03:02 we could see some flooding issues
03:03 by the end of the weekend.
03:04 So it's worth keeping up to date with our day-to-day forecast
03:07 for more details on that.
03:09 But further north, it's a similar story
03:10 throughout much of the weekend, with the best
03:13 of any drier and brighter weather
03:14 across western areas of Scotland,
03:16 as well as western areas of Northern Ireland.
03:18 And in that sunshine, it will continue
03:19 to feel fairly pleasant.
03:20 The winds will be a little bit lighter on Sunday
03:23 compared to Saturday.
03:24 But for many areas, there'll be quite a lot more cloud around.
03:27 So it's going to feel slightly cooler on Sunday
03:30 than it will have done on Saturday.
03:32 That rain will clear away to the southeast slowly,
03:34 but surely through the course of Monday
03:35 to bring us a more settled start to next week.
03:38 That's all for now.
03:39 Have a lovely weekend.
03:40 Bye-bye.
