00:00Good afternoon and happy Valentine's Day and what a treat we've had. We've got blue
00:05sky out there and plenty of sunshine but the sunshine will be turning increasingly hazy
00:11as we go through the afternoon. But the fine and dry weather is all courtesy of this ridge
00:16of high pressure finally extending across the UK but weather fronts already waiting
00:21in the wings out to the west. So this is the latest satellite and radar imagery and you
00:26can see plenty of sunshine across the country. Clear skies but there is some rain just coming
00:32in to Orkney and Shetland and then more cloud just thickening out to the west. But otherwise
00:39across much of Scotland, northern England, the central swathe of the UK seeing plenty of winter
00:43sunshine, a bit more cloud across East Anglia, a few fleeting showers here and then more so
00:48persistent rain just coming in to Shetland. Otherwise out towards the west like I mentioned
00:53that cloud will be thickening so the skies will be turning more milky and then we'll
00:59start to see the winds picking up from the west coming up from a southerly direction.
01:04But the other thing to know is also that it's colder out there so highs of up to six or
01:08seven
01:08degrees but hopefully in the sunshine feeling pleasant enough. Now as we go through Saturday
01:14evening then do take care this band of cloud, rain and hill snow will push in across Northern
01:20Ireland and then eventually further into much of Scotland and Northern England mainly falling as
01:25rain across the southern half of the country. Otherwise there is a Met Office snow and ice
01:31warning in force. So we could see accumulations of three to seven centimetres of snow above 150 metres
01:38but higher accumulations possible so some significant disruption is possible 10 to 15 centimetres
01:44above 400 metres and again accompanied by that southerly breeze we could see blizzard conditions.
01:51Otherwise it's still going to be feeling chilly out there temperatures generally rising though across
01:55the south so lows of six or seven degrees here otherwise close to freezing elsewhere. So as we start
02:02Sunday morning then do take care there could be some icy stretches in places otherwise an unsettled picture
02:08across the southern half of the country and this band of rain could turn wintry across East Anglia as we
02:14head
02:15through the morning. Otherwise behind that we're going to start to see blustery showers merging to give
02:20longer spells of rain. Some of this is going to be particularly heavy perhaps even with the risk of hail
02:26and thunder
02:26but mixed in between that further out towards the west across much of Northern Ireland into Wales and the
02:33south west we should see some brighter skies developing. Generally less cold than what we'll see on
02:38Saturday highs in the south up to 10 or 11 degrees but feeling chilly underneath the cloud rain and perhaps
02:45some of that hill snow early on. Otherwise as we head through Sunday evening this band of rain will continue
02:52to progress its way eastwards behind that it is going to be a case of clear spells but also some
02:58frequent
02:58blustery showers again some of those turning wintry across Scotland. That is all from me for now enjoy
03:04the sunshine and I'll be back soon otherwise make sure to hit subscribe so you don't miss a forecast. Bye
03:09bye!
