00:05 This massive hole in the road in St. Augustine has residents concerned.
00:10 As you can see, it's quite deep and clearly in the path of traffic.
00:15 So we have a real problem here. Just now we have a road.
00:19 It's in the area of Dry River Trace and Orange Grove Road.
00:23 Residents came out on Monday to voice their concerns,
00:27 and they were joined by Opposition MP Khadijah Amin.
00:31 On two occasions, residents had to help persons, motorists, to get their vehicles out.
00:37 This is not a pothole. It is a sinkhole.
00:40 She says it's not one but two sinkholes in the area.
00:44 Residents are also concerned about large cracks in this bridge wall.
00:49 This bridge won't repair. It won't raise it and widen it.
00:55 And look what went on there. The road gave in to it.
00:58 Amin says there's usually heavy traffic on the road,
01:01 and she's appealing to the Minister of Works to address these issues soon.
01:06 Please expedite this project here at the Dry River Bridge in St. Augustine South,
01:12 as well as on two other bridges that we have been asking you for.
01:16 One is at Spring Village on the Blackman Ravine on Bassey Street.
01:21 That bridge is also collapsing, and we have a bridge on the Macquoia Extension.
01:26 Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan tells TV6 News
01:31 the ministry will investigate the complaints,
01:34 and once these problems fall under the ministry, they'll resolve them.
01:39 Anselm Gibbs, TV6 News.
