00:00And we also took to the streets of Princes Town, South Trinidad, to get a sense of how citizens feel about the state of emergency.
00:07While those we spoke to were all pleased that no curfew has been imposed,
00:12the views were mixed over whether or not the SOE can reduce the level of crime being experienced in the country.
00:19Here's what some people told our reporter, Cindy Raguba-Tikating.
00:22I believe you have to work hard on those things because crime is getting worse and you have a lot of heinous crimes going on.
00:34It's a good thing. Does it come with a curfew? No. It's a good thing.
00:41But to enhance that, the need to bring back the hanging procedure.
00:46Because it's something that we did for the past few years and it never worked. So what will it make it work now?
00:53It may help. It may not help.
00:56But everybody have to unite and come to one understanding to know we all are human beings.
01:03And stop the killing, the wars and all these things going on.
01:06I think that as pertains to the laid-back setting of the last regime, as pertains to the gusto that is being expressed by this regime,
01:15I am sure that this is going to be able to make a dent in some way.
01:18And I mean, this is a very good initiative and this is something that the country needs at this time.
01:22This time situation is really bad now. Look at this girl who got chopped up in a suitcase.
01:28Nobody was expecting, you know, a few months to be like this.
01:32We need God in our lives too. You know, there's so much killing and going on.
