Clean-up efforts are continuing in parts of West Trinidad one day after a rare tornado ripped through several communities, leaving some residents without roofs and others counting their blessings.

00:10Yesterday, severe weather impacted several communities, with West Moorings North among the hardest hit.
00:16According to the Diego Martin Borough Corporation's Disaster Management Unit, 16 homes suffered damage, some losing their roofs entirely, while others sustained partial damage caused by flying debris.
00:27The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, along with disaster units from Port of Spain and San Juan Laventil, provided critical support, including debris removal, drone assessments and on-site security.
00:40Trucks, backhoes and heavy equipment were deployed to clear roads of debris, including galvanized sheets and other building materials.
00:49Power outages affected areas up to Moncoco Road. The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission worked overnight to restore service.
00:57The Water and Sewage Authority laid fallen trees, while police officers managed to traffic and maintained safety in the area.
01:05Damage assessments and debris removal, the ministry says, are now complete.

01:21When TV6 visited Victoria Avenue and Crescent North to Dee, residents were busy clearing debris and salvaging what they could.
01:29Several homes remained covered with tarpaulins after suffering extensive roof damage, while others were left with shattered windows and scattered belongings.
01:37Some residents told TV6 off-camera that while the experience was frightening, they are thankful no lives were lost and are now focusing on rebuilding what was damaged.
01:49Authorities are expected to complete assessments in the coming days to determine the extent of losses.
