00:00In a recent escalation, a senior Hezbollah commander has been killed in an Israeli airstrike
00:05in Lebanon.
00:07Mohamed Qassem Al-Shahr, a top leader of Hezbollah's elite Radwan force, was targeted in a strike
00:12on the village of Koran in Lebanon's western Beka district this Tuesday, according to the
00:17Israel Defense Forces, IDF.
00:20The IDF stated that Al-Shahr had been involved in numerous attacks against Israel, and his
00:26death is expected to significantly hinder Hezbollah's ability to launch future assaults
00:30from southern Lebanon.
00:33Hezbollah has confirmed Al-Shahr's death and retaliated by firing dozens of Katyusha rockets
00:38and several drones at two locations in northern Israel.
00:42The IDF reported no casualties from these attacks, noting that some projectiles were
00:47intercepted while others landed in open areas.
00:51In response, the Israeli military struck Hezbollah launch sites in the Mansouri and
00:56At-Tiri areas, which were reportedly used in the attacks.
01:00Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli Air Force also targeted a Hezbollah military facility
01:05in the village of Rachif in southern Lebanon's Nabatae Governorate, resulting in 12 people
01:10being wounded, according to Lebanon's Public Health Emergency Operations Center.
01:16This incident follows the recent killing of Fouad Shaker, Hezbollah's senior military
01:20official, in a drone strike in Beirut's southern suburbs.
01:24Shaker's assassination was the highest-profile killing of a Hezbollah official since Mustafa
01:30Badreddin was killed in Syria in 2016.
01:34The recent hostilities, which have intensified following the outbreak of war between Israel
01:39and Hamas in Gaza on October 7, have heightened fears of a broader regional conflict, leading
01:44to extensive diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions.
