Escalating Tensions Between Israel and Hezbollah: A Deepening Conflict

In recent weeks, the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has seen a significant escalation, with rocket attacks and airstrikes becoming a regular occurrence along the Israel-Lebanon border. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries from the latest attacks claimed by Hezbollah. In retaliation, Israeli fighter jets struck Hezbollah rocket launchers in southern Lebanon, specifically in the towns of Kounine and Qabrikha. These launchers had been used in earlier assaults on Israeli territory, according to the IDF (Israel Defense Forces).

One of the most personal stories to emerge from this conflict involves Eliezer Peretz, a resident of Kiryat Shmona, whose home was directly hit by one of these rockets. Peretz, who was away in the northern city of Safed running his market stall at the time, received a call from the Kiryat Shmona Municipality, informing him of the destruction. While he hasn’t yet seen the damage in person, officials described it as severe.

“This is really hard,” Peretz told reporters. “It was a brand-new home for me and my family. My wife and I put a lot of energy and money into it. You can’t get used to this situation.” Despite the devastation, he remained optimistic, adding, “The important thing is that we are healthy and well. What was destroyed, we will rebuild.”

For Peretz, this isn’t the first time his home has come under fire. As a child growing up in Kiryat Shmona, his parents’ home was also struck by a rocket from Lebanon. “I grew up in this reality,” he said, reflecting on the harsh normalcy of living in a conflict zone.
