IDF Responds to Rocket Fire with Targeted Strikes
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that while some of the projectiles were intercepted, the barrage of attacks targeted the Upper Galilee, Western Galilee, and the Golan Heights. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, although several of the rocket impacts sparked fires in open areas, requiring firefighters to act swiftly.

In retaliation, the IDF struck one of the rocket launchers shortly after the morning attacks, aiming to curb further assaults. Sirens blared across northern Israel as communities were warned to take cover amid the escalating hostilities.

Hezbollah’s Retaliation for IDF Strikes in Lebanon
Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group, claimed responsibility for the rocket barrages, stating that they were directed at military bases within Israel. The group described the attacks as retaliation for IDF airstrikes on Hezbollah arms depots located deep within Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley late Monday night. These airstrikes reportedly followed the killing of a prominent Hezbollah operative earlier in the day.

The confrontation intensified earlier on Monday when an Israeli military non-commissioned officer (NCO) was killed in an explosive drone attack in northern Israel. Such deep incursions by Israeli forces into Lebanon are relatively rare and usually follow deadly attacks on Israeli soil.

Israeli Strikes Target Hezbollah Operatives and Infrastructure

In response to the ongoing aggression, the IDF launched several operations on Monday night. One of these strikes targeted a location in Deir Qanoun, near Tyre, resulting in the death of a Hezbollah operative, Hussein Suleiman, who was identified as a key figure in the group’s rocket and missile unit.

Additionally, Israeli forces destroyed two Hezbollah rocket launchers in southern Lebanon’s Mansouri and Taybeh, which were allegedly primed for imminent attacks on Israel. By Tuesday, the IDF had also struck a building in Matmoura, southern Lebanon, where several Hezbollah operatives were reportedly located, as well as another structure in the vicinity.

00:48These strikes were, in part, retaliation for the IDF's recent operations against Hezbollah
00:54arms depots deep in Lebanon's eastern Beqaa Valley, which took place late Monday. Additionally,
01:01the group pointed to the killing of a key operative earlier in the day as another reason
01:05for their aggressive actions. The conflict escalated earlier on Monday when an Israeli
01:10military NCO was killed in an explosive drone attack in northern Israel.
01:16Israeli strikes deep within Lebanon, such as the one reported in Nabichit,
01:20Baalbek, are relatively uncommon and typically occur in response to fatal assaults.
01:26The IDF also conducted a drone strike on Monday night in Deir Kanaan, near Tyre,
01:31eliminating a Hezbollah operative, Hussein Suleiman,
01:35identified as a significant figure within Hezbollah's rocket and missile unit.
01:40That same night, Israeli forces targeted a pair of Hezbollah rocket launchers in southern
01:44Lebanon's Mansouri and Tebe, which were poised for imminent attacks on Israel.
01:50By Tuesday, the IDF had struck a building housing several Hezbollah operatives in Matmura,
01:56southern Lebanon, and another nearby structure. Adding to the complexity, a Lebanese media report
02:02suggested that Hezbollah might resume its retaliation for the killing of top commander
02:06Fouad Chaker in Beirut last month. This comes after their ally, Hamas,
02:12appeared to reject truce terms aimed at halting the conflict in Gaza.
02:16Iran, too, has threatened a significant strike on Israel following the killing of Hamas political
02:22leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, an act attributed to Israel. Iran has indicated
02:28that its response will depend on the outcome of Gaza ceasefire negotiations.
02:33On Tuesday, Defense Minister Yoav Galant indicated that Israel's strategic focus
02:38is shifting from the Gaza Strip to the northern front as the nation
02:41prepares for a potential escalation with Hezbollah in Lebanon.
02:46Galant emphasized the importance of returning displaced residents to northern Israel,
02:50stating that if an agreement is possible, Israel will pursue it.
02:54However, he warned that Israel is prepared to take action if necessary.
02:59Since October 8th, Hezbollah-led forces have launched near-daily attacks on Israeli communities
03:05and military positions along the border, justifying their actions as support for
03:09Gaza in the ongoing conflict with Hamas. These skirmishes have led to the deaths
03:15of 26 Israeli civilians, along with 19 IDF soldiers and reservists.
03:21Syria has also seen some involvement, although no injuries have been reported from those attacks.
03:27In contrast, Hezbollah has reported the loss of 415 members,
03:32mostly in Lebanon, but some in Syria as well, due to Israeli actions.
