00:11Welcome to Mojo Plays. So, the Nintendo Wii brought families together, introduced millions
00:16to motion controls, and delivered some unforgettable gaming adventures. It also delivered some
00:22absolutely merciless bosses. From shape-shifting bounty hunters to colossal dragons capable of
00:28wiping out an entire party, these 20 encounters will test your reflexes, your patience, and your
00:34determination. We're considering here both mandatory story encounter bosses and optional
00:39challenge bosses, so get ready for some seriously tough fights. Let's go.
00:44Fiery Gobblegut Super Mario Galaxy 2
00:51Now, don't let that goofy face fool you here. Fiery Gobblegut is one seriously heated encounter.
00:58This blazing dragon relentlessly pursues Mario, forcing him to dodge fiery charges while striking
01:04the glowing weak points along its enormous body. The real challenge is finding those openings without
01:10getting caught in its aggressive movements. With limited opportunities to attack safely,
01:15a mistimed jump can actually cost Mario a precious hit point. It's a surprisingly punishing fight in a
01:21game that otherwise looks like a cheerful cosmic playground. Turns out, even the Mushroom Kingdom
01:26has a serious fire safety problem.
01:35Shin, fragile dreams, farewell ruins of the moon.
01:43In a game defined by loneliness and survival, Shin provides a tense final showdown that feels
01:49appropriately bleak. His energy projectiles, powerful laser attacks, and sweeping beams force players to
01:55stay alert, and recognize his attack patterns rather than just rushing blindly. Finding safe
02:01opportunities to strike is essential here, since his ranged assaults can quickly turn the battle
02:07against you. The game's survival focus mechanics add further tension, making every mistake feel costly.
02:13Shin might not rely on the sheer size of some other bosses on this list, but his dangerous
02:19attacks and eerie presence makes him a memorable and uniquely challenging final obstacle.
02:30Xalos Force Contra Rebirth
02:37Contra Rebirth saves a gravity defying nightmare for its final showdown on normal difficulty or higher.
02:44Xalos Force can rotate the battlefield, making it all topsy-turvy, forcing players to fight across
02:50walls and ceilings while dodging bouncing projectiles and enormous chunks of falling debris.
02:56Its protective scrap metal armor also makes landing clean shots a challenge, especially when the screen
03:01is packed with hazards. The shifting orientation disrupts your movement and aim just when you need
03:07both of them most. Surviving this extraterrestrial assault requires some sharp reflexes, smart weapon
03:13management, and the kind of composure that Contra players know all too well for sure. When the floor
03:18becomes a wall, muscle memory suddenly isn't your friend.
03:30DAGRIN, THE LAST STORY
03:39Betrayal is painful enough without the person responsible turning into a monstrous final boss.
03:44DAGRIN's climactic battle unfolds across three major forms, beginning with his human appearance,
03:50before escalating into a sword-wielding monster, and then an enormous final transformation.
03:55His middle phase introduces homing fireballs and a protective barrier that only Yurik's Big Bang spell
04:01can break. The final form is even more dangerous, with devastating attacks that can knock characters
04:06down before delivering a potentially lethal follow-up slam. Players must coordinate their allies,
04:12manage their healing, and use the environment to reach his vulnerable head. DAGRIN doesn't just test
04:18your combat skills, he tests whether you've actually learned to use your entire party effectively.
04:31HENRY COLDOWN, NO MORE HEROES
04:41Travis Touchdown's final showdown with HENRY COLDOWN is a lightning-fast duel against one of the game's
04:47deadliest swordsmen. HENRY combines rapid katana strikes with energy projectiles, and a devastating
04:53charging attack that can kill Travis outright if it connects. His speed leaves little time for you to react,
04:59while his substantial health pull makes the battle a test of endurance and attrition, as well as all of your
05:04reflexes.
05:06Players must master evasive maneuvers, use dark step counters effectively here, and capitalize on brief openings
05:12without becoming greedy. Against HENRY, one mistimed dodge can turn a promising fight into a very short
05:18lesson in humility for you.
05:24Get plenty more Hardest Bosses content during our 24-7 gaming livestream here on Mojo Place.
05:30Just scan that QR code on screen. Jaygrin, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles The Crystal Bears.
05:42Jagerin's transformation into a colossal ship-fused monstrosity turns the game's finale into a
05:47spectacular battle of survival. Lael must use his telekinetic abilities to dismantle the enormous
05:53enemy piece by piece, targeting its armor and mechanical components while dodging relentless attacks.
06:00Jaygrin's massive limbs can inflict serious damage, and his increasingly destructive assaults leave little
06:05room for any errors. Success here depends on identifying the correct targets and striking in the right
06:11order, rather than just simply attacking whatever happens to be in front of you. It's a visually
06:16extravagant showdown for sure, but it demands precision as much as firepower.
06:28Jack Krauser, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition.
06:31You got the last one. It pretty much means you're on a tight leash.
06:39Leon Kennedy's former comrade is bad news with a knife, and even worse once his mutated arm enters
06:45the picture. Talk about unfair. Krauser's final encounter combines a frantic knife duel with a
06:51brutal battle against his transformed form, whose enormous bladed appendage doubles as a shield. His
06:57lightning fast lunges and devastating strikes leave little time to react, while his armor makes finding
07:02a clear shot really darn difficult. And to make matters worse, Leon faces a three minute countdown
07:08before the explosives detonate. Between split second dodge prompts and relentless melee attacks, Krauser turns an
07:14already dangerous confrontation into a desperate race against the clock. No pressure at all, Leon.
07:19Just a mutated super soldier and a very inconvenient deadline.
07:25What do you intend to do restoring Umbrella?
07:28To bring order and balance to this insane world of ours.
07:33Yami, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Ultimate All-Stars.
07:44Forget any sort of fair play here. Yami, the monstrous final boss borrowed from Okami,
07:49puts players through three increasingly dangerous forms, evolving from a floating orb into a tentacled
07:55menace before revealing its terrifying final shape. The biggest problem? Well, Yami cannot be stunned,
08:00so even your flashiest combos won't interrupt its attacks. Devastating grabs, sweeping lasers,
08:07missile barrages, and falling meteors can shred your health, while you're just busy trying to land
08:12to hit all of your own. Character choice also really matters here, since some fighters struggle
08:16more than others against its unusual mechanics. Beating Yami requires patience, defensive discipline,
08:22and careful timing. Even the biggest superhero crossover in gaming can't save you from a villain who
08:27refuses to play by the rules. No fair at all.
08:38Barbaros, Zack and Wiki, Quest for Barbaros's Treasure
08:49The final showdown against the skeletal pirate captain Barbaros in Zack and Wiki, Quest for Barbaros's
08:55treasure stands as an incredibly stressful test of intellect and nerves. Rather than testing your
09:00button-mashing reflexes, this very battle forces you into a high-stakes gauntlet of complex multi-step
09:07environmental puzzles. Executed, of course, under strict unforgiving timers. The absolute lack of room
09:13for any errors or mistakes makes it a brutal situation to basically try to deal with, as any sort of
09:19single
09:19missed time item use or incorrectly rotated puzzle piece results for you in an immediate execution and
09:25instant game over. No fun. Navigating these shifting puzzles while frantically switching between point
09:31and click navigation and precise Wii remote motion gestures turns this colorful finale into a legendary
09:37mental pressure cooker.
09:46Tiki Tong, Donkey Kong Country Returns
09:56The leader of the Tiki-Tak tribe has stolen Donkey Kong's bananas. How rude. And he's not even giving them
10:01back without a fight. Again, how rude. Tiki Tong begins with enormous hands that slam, clap, and sweep
10:07across the arena, forcing DK to dodge before leaping onto their glowing weak points. Destroy both hands,
10:14and the giant tiki head joins the assault with flaming projectiles and ground slams that send shockwaves
10:19across the battlefield. Those precious openings are brief, demanding accurate jumps and impeccable timing.
10:25As the attacks become harder to avoid, even experienced platforming fans may find themselves wishing
10:31they'd invested in a sturdier banana bunch.
10:41Yokozuna Mad World
10:49Yokozuna is an enormous sumo wrestler who makes every mistake hurt. His charging punches and ground
10:54stomping attacks can rapidly drain Jack's health. While the absence of any healing during the fight makes
11:00damage especially costly here. The encounter spans three rounds, with increasingly dangerous arena
11:06hazards and a helicopter-throwing attack adding to the challenge here. Each round ends in a punishing
11:11power struggle that requires rapid inputs and a successful counter, in order to, hopefully at least,
11:16avoid being sent flying into those surrounding hazards. Victory depends on consistent timing, precise
11:22dodging and knowing when to attack. Against Yokozuna, brute force alone simply won't cut it.
11:34Dragon God, Muramasa the Demon Blade
11:43The Dragon God fills the battlefield with fireballs, waves of flames, homing projectiles,
11:49and dangerous electrical attacks. Its head is the primary vulnerable target, forcing players to time
11:55their aerial strikes carefully while avoiding the creature's relentless assault. Fire damage can inflict burn,
12:01I guess that's obvious, but it does. And taking too many hits risks breaking equipped blades, adding resource
12:07management to an already demanding encounter. As the dragon becomes more and more aggressive,
12:12opportunities to attack grow harder to exploit. Players must then balance offense with evasive movement
12:18and make smart use of their sword abilities to bring this enormous beast down. A powerful weapon helps,
12:24yes, but knowing when to use it is what separates a successful hunt from a fiery disaster. Best of luck
12:30out there.
12:41You know, you should never trust strangers, Sammy. This is gonna be fun.
12:48Gandreda turns Samus' high-tech arsenal against her by constantly changing the rules of engagement. This
12:54acrobatic bounty hunter fires homing energy blades, disappears from sight, and then transforms into familiar
13:00foes, forcing Samus to adapt to a succession of different attack patterns. It's a lot at once.
13:06Now, the most unsettling twist comes when Gandreda disguises herself as Samus, which is wild,
13:12mimicking her weapons and morph ball abilities. It's really pretty crazy, but actually really cool too.
13:17But hard, obviously hard. Tracking her when she turns invisible requires the x-ray visor, all while
13:22dodging her relentless attacks. This battle rewards players who understand their equipment and can quickly
13:28adjust their tactics on the fly. Gandreda is dangerously precise because you can never be entirely sure
13:34what she'll actually do next. Fighting an enemy who copies your moves is bad enough. Fighting one who
13:40knows your entire arsenal. Well, yeah, that's another matter entirely.
13:52Demise, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
14:02As the demon king himself, Demise makes Link earn every single inch of his final victory. His first phase
14:09demands careful swordplay as he blocks reckless swings and retaliates with powerful strikes.
14:14Well timed shield dashes are essential here for creating openings, but the fight becomes even more
14:20dangerous when a thunderstorm empowers Demise's blade with electricity. Talk about shocking, right?
14:26Yeah, that was dumb. Link must then harness that same lightning, you know, the shocking one I just,
14:31never mind, never mind, to unleash charged Skyward strikes, staggering his opponent before the
14:36opportunity disappears. Demise's punish encounters leave little room for mistakes, and landing that
14:41final blow requires precise timing. It's certainly an epic conclusion that tests how well you've mastered
14:47the game's motion-controlled combat. This, after all, is no ordinary sword fight. It's a duel against the very
14:53embodiment of evil. Epic, showdown indeed. And there's electricity. Yay.
15:06Dagan Sea, Fire Emblem, Radiant Dawn
15:16Dagan Sea, the Dragon King of Goldoa, is an imposing wall of scales, strength, and defensive power.
15:22His enormous health pool and formidable defenses can make even your strongest units seem ineffective,
15:28while his ire skill threatens devastating counterattacks against careless attackers.
15:33His ability to recover health makes the encounter even more frustrating, potentially undoing several
15:39turns of hard-fought progress. Victory then requires a carefully assembled team, effective use of
15:44specialized anti-dragon weapons, and coordinated attacks that maximize damage before he can recover.
15:50Without the right strategy, this very battle becomes a punishing war of attrition that exposes weaknesses
15:56in your entire army. Sometimes the hardest boss isn't the one with the fastest attacks. It's the one who
16:02makes your carefully planned strategy look completely inadequate.
16:15Jasper Bat Jr. No More Heroes 2 Desperate Struggle
16:19That's it, Travis!
16:26Travis Touchdown's quest for revenge culminates in a three-phase nightmare against
16:31Jasper Bat Jr. The opening encounter with Jasper's flying car is only the beginning. Soon, the pizza
16:37mogul transforms into a hulking powerhouse with devastating punches, shockwaves, and infuriating
16:43teleport attacks. His rapid combos demand split-second dodges and perfectly timed counters, while getting knocked
16:50through a nearby window can mean instant death. His enormous final form raises the stakes even further,
16:57leaving Travis with little room to recover from any mistakes. Three phases, relentless pressure, and
17:02lethal environmental hazards make Jasper one opponent who definitely deserves a strongly worded customer
17:08complaint. At least we think so. Apparently, the pizza business really is a cutthroat industry. Who knew?
17:20Donkey Kong Punch-Out
17:29Little Mac has faced plenty of oversized opponents, but a giant gorilla who throws punches like a wrecking
17:35ball is another matter entirely. Donkey Kong is a secret opponent in Punch-Out, bringing devastating
17:41blows, fast combinations, and unpredictable timing that make finding and opening a serious challenge
17:46here. His attacks can knock Mac down in a hurry, so recognizing his tells and dodging at exactly the
17:53right moment is essential. It's tough, but definitely essential here. There's little opportunity to rely on
17:58familiar patterns when one mistake can end the fight. You'll need sharp reflexes and impeccable timing to
18:04beat this banana-loving bruiser. Turns out, the toughest opponent in boxing might not even be human.
18:09At least the bananas aren't on the line this time around.
18:21TKO!
18:23Commander Deco, Sin and Punishment Star Successor
18:32Commander Deco pushes Sin and Punishment Star Successor's frantic shooting mechanics to their
18:37absolute limits. His multi-stage encounter escalates from explosive projectiles and sweeping lasers,
18:43to a terrifying Shadow Dragon transformation, and a brutal close quarters battle. Tracking his movements
18:49while dodging purple energy orbs, fiery waves, and enormous blades leaves little room for any hesitation.
18:55Players, then, must combine evasive movement, melee deflections, and charge shots,
19:00in order to interrupt dangerous attacks and exploit brief opportunities for you to strike.
19:05Deco is a formidable test of reflexes in a game that rarely lets you catch your breath.
19:16Alatrion Monster Hunter Tri
19:24The penultimate entry on our list is Alatrion, the fearsome, glittering black dragon of Monster Hunter
19:30Tri. This elder dragon commands multiple elements, and ferocious charges that can cart an unprepared
19:36hunter in seconds. While its obviously naturally substantial health bull being this massive dragon,
19:42turns the encounter into a grueling, grueling battle of endurance.
19:46Alatrion offers few safe openings, punishing greedy attacks and poorly timed dodges,
19:50with devastating counter strikes and damage to you. Hunters need carefully prepared equipment for
19:56this fight, a solid understanding of its attack patterns, and near flawless execution. This isn't
20:02just another hunt, it's a brutal examination of everything you've learned in the game. Bring the wrong
20:06gear, and you'll be the one getting cooked, and yeah, spoiler alert, you probably don't taste very yummy.
20:19Avalanche Abassi Xenoblade Chronicles
20:28Avalanche Abassi is the level 120 superboss lurking at 3 Sage Summit on Valak Mountain,
20:34and it has a strong claim to being the toughest challenge in Xenoblade Chronicles and on the Wii.
20:40This colossal dragon boasts a massive massive massive health pool, formidable defenses and attacks that
20:46can overwhelm even a well-prepared party. Its most notorious feature is its instant death spike
20:52counter, which can punish players for attacking without the right protective abilities. Add in
20:57multi-hit fire attacks that inflict blaze and paralysis, plus a devastating talent art capable of
21:03dealing some fatal damage, and every single mistake becomes a potential party wipe. Heck,
21:08even reaching the fight requires the right conditions. Abassi appears only at night during a blizzard.
21:13Defeating it demands optimized equipment, carefully chosen party members, and a mastery of the game's
21:18combat systems. This is the ultimate exam for Xenoblade Chronicles players. Fail to prepare,
21:24and this dragon will make sure that you freeze under pressure.
21:27There. You must suffer more. Okay. My turn. Double end. Your history.
21:34Those were our picks for the 20 hardest bosses in Nintendo Wii games. But did we get it right? Did
21:40we
21:40miss any? Which encounter pushed you to your absolute limit? And which brutal boss deserves a spot on
21:45list? Let us know in the comments. Thank you for watching this video from MojoPlays. Be sure to
