00:00Destiny is never left to chance.
00:03Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're showcasing the hardest boss rush modes in video games.
00:17But before we dive in, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and
00:23ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:25The Thunder Dragon's Lightning Round The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
00:31The dragon, Lanayru, offers Link a boss rush, earning better rewards as he defeats each
00:36one.
00:37While it can be a bit tricky, this standard mode isn't what's making the list.
00:42Since you can only fight bosses you've already defeated, you can't do the full boss rush
00:47of 12 rounds, including the final boss, Demise, until after you've already beaten the game
00:53and started hero mode.
00:55Here enemies deal double damage and hearts don't drop, so if you were hoping to heal
01:01inside boss arenas using pots or grass, that will no longer work.
01:06You also can't use your adventure pouch, meaning no medals or potions, unless you drink one
01:12right before beginning the challenge so that effects carry over.
01:15However, this version is much harder than the regular one.
01:19The Gauntlet Remnant 2
01:27With the Dark Horizon DLC, the developers of Remnant 2 introduced three types of boss rush
01:33modes.
01:34Triple Threat only features three bosses, and Trial by Fire features seven.
01:38But the Gauntlet comes with a huge spike in difficulty by featuring 19 bosses.
01:45Better hope you have the stamina and commitment ready for it, because that is a lot of fights
01:50to get through.
01:51It's an intimidating number, but made a little less so by the fact that you can do this with
01:55other players, and due to the game's design, your character can get some nice buffs as you
02:00progress.
02:01Still, better not drop your guard.
02:10Soul Melter EX – Kirby Star Allies
02:14Many people will tell you that Kirby games aren't hard, and that's true for the most part.
02:19But some of them feature boss rushes as final unlockable challenges, and those tend to be
02:24pretty brutal.
02:25Of all of them, Soul Melter EX from Star Allies is the one most likely to bring you to a
02:31rage.
02:31It's the highest difficulty level of the ultimate choice, the boss rush arena.
02:36There are 14 rounds to get through, a pretty sizable amount, and several of the fights are
02:41against harder variants.
02:43You don't have to go it alone, you can select a team to fight alongside you, still you'll
02:48need to balance them, as well as when to heal, to make it through.
02:52Those last few fights, especially Void, are nasty.
03:06Boss Rush – Dead Cells
03:09Well, they can't all have fancy names, but the boss rush of Dead Cells is still no joke.
03:14You have the option to choose between different builds before you start.
03:18And after defeating a boss, you'll get more upgrades, items, and customization options,
03:24which you will definitely need.
03:25There are four trials to test yourself against, each of which randomizes what bosses will appear
03:31across three tiers of difficulty.
03:33The fourth trial is obviously the hardest.
03:36Here you face five bosses, two from the first tier, two from the second, and one from the
03:42third.
03:42However, they're all modified versions, being more powerful and featuring different attacks
03:48from the regular appearances.
03:50Naturally, that makes it tough to adapt.
03:53Crucible of the Lords – Lords of the Fallen
04:02As soon as Souls-like games started adding Boss Rush modes, everyone knew they were in for
04:08some mighty challenges.
04:10An update to Lords of the Fallen, Clash of Champions came with several Boss Rush customization options.
04:16But where you'd find the most pain and suffering was Crucible.
04:20Here, you'd find six Boss Rushes naturally increasing in difficulty.
04:25To even unlock Crucible of the Lords, the final one featuring 14 battles, you first had to beat
04:31the Crucibles of Fire, Light, and Darkness, themselves unlocked by reaching different endings in the game.
04:38That is a lot of requirements.
04:40While Lords of the Fallen isn't necessarily harder than the games that inspired it,
04:45making it through 14 Souls-like bosses without dying won't be easy.
05:00Data Analysis – Kingdom Hearts 3
05:03We're cheating a little bit with this one, since you can pause and even visit a Moogle shop in between
05:08fights,
05:09making it less of a rush.
05:11But Data Analysis is so stupid hard, we're including it anyway.
05:15Added in with the Remind DLC, it confronts you with harder fights against the members of the real Organization 13.
05:22In case it wasn't obvious, that means 13 fights.
05:26However, every combatant has now been enhanced in several ways, with more health and new patterns, as well as new
05:33attacks.
05:34They're all intense, but the last two, who are locked until you beat the previous 11, are nightmares.
05:41Master Xehanort, in particular, is a nasty piece of work.
05:55Pantheon of Hallownest – Hollow Knight
05:58The Godmaster DLC of Hollow Knight is a true final test of your skills.
06:03You can make your way through several pantheons, i.e. boss rushes, each of which unlocks an even harder one.
06:09Pantheon of Hallownest is the fifth and final one, and tasks you with making it through 42 boss fights.
06:16Thankfully, there are several rest spots throughout, because it would be impossible without them, and is close to it with
06:23them.
06:24Still, 42 is an awful lot of fights to make it through.
06:28And worse, many of the bosses are of the ascended difficulty, with changes to arenas that make them harder to
06:34deal with.
06:35The final fight is against Absolute Radiance, a now famously tough version of the game's final boss.
06:42Deathmarch – Lies of P
06:44Another Souls-like, Lies of P received two new modes centered on boss fights in its Overture DLC.
06:51Deathmarch – a pretty accurate name – features customizable marathons against bosses.
06:57That means, how difficult it is depends on you.
07:00The minimum number of bosses you can select is 3, and the maximum is 17.
07:05The difficulty of each fight can also be changed, based on the levels you've unlocked for each boss in Battle
07:12Memories – the other new mode featuring boss rematches.
07:15Your health and items are limited regardless.
07:18So, if you choose to fight all the bosses in a row, at the highest difficulty level, that is obviously
07:24going to be the most stressful thing you can do in the game.
07:36Dread Rush – Metroid Dread
07:39Metroid Dread is already a pretty tough game, but a few modes crank up the heat to ridiculous temperatures.
07:46After beating the game on hard mode, you unlock Dread Mode, where Samus dies in a single hit.
07:52And after beating this, you unlock Dread Rush.
07:56As you can probably guess, you fight through 12 bosses, but will die in one hit.
08:01Clearly a bit more manageable than actual Dread Mode, since that's a full game's worth of frustration.
08:07But still, the margin for error is basically non-existent.
08:11Plenty of the game's bosses gained recognition for being challenging, even on normal mode.
08:16So, facing someone like Ravenbeak requires a level of perfection most of us just aren't capable of.
08:34Ultimate Challenge – The First Berserker, Kazan
08:38This is one of the harder Souls-like in recent memory, which means its boss rushes are only meant for
08:44the surest of players.
08:45One option is the Great Generals Crucible.
08:48There are five boss rushes here, with four to five bosses each, each one unlocked after the other.
08:55These are already hard, but they come with preset skills, consumables, and gear, and the lack of customization makes them
09:02even trickier.
09:03The other option is Berserker's Bloodshed.
09:05This is a single boss rush with 16 foes.
09:09And while you can grow stronger as you progress, getting killed can completely take away your motivation because you'll have
09:16to start all the way over.
09:18In both cases, you better be comfortable with dying a lot.
09:30Have you attempted any of these boss rushes?
09:33Are there any others you feel deserved inclusion?
