00:06Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 20 Hardest Boss
00:10Battles of the Century so far.
00:16Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:21the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:26DEMON SOULS
00:37Bringing in a second boss while you're in the middle of fighting the first one is a surefire
00:40way to spike the difficulty.
00:42Most bosses found in FromSoftware's games are going to be a challenge, and Maneater easily
00:46takes the top spot for DEMON SOULS.
00:48Not only does it come with the necessary power to do its studio proud, but it's also fought
00:53on a rather narrow bridge.
01:02Having less room to maneuver and attack in is a pain, but not as much as a second Maneater.
01:07After enough time has passed, or if the boss's health bar drops to a quarter full, it will
01:12summon a pal to help do you in, doubling your workload.
01:32LAKSASIA THE COMPLETE
01:35With her Electric Affinity Greatsword, she'll first start off this battle with slow Bruiser-like
01:40techniques.
01:41However, once you reach her second phase, the difficulty spikes up as she drops her armor
01:45and proceeds to strike you down with her super-fast attacks and lightning projectiles.
01:49If you get too close to her, she'll use a huge damage-dealing AOE Electrical Blast.
01:54LAKSASIA'S movepool is also full of feints, and she constantly circles around you, meaning
01:58you'll have to pay close attention to everything she does.
02:07ALMA
02:13ALMA is not your typical boss encounter in Ninja Gaiden.
02:16She stands as one of the toughest adversaries in the series due to her agile movements and
02:20powerful attacks that keep players constantly on their toes.
02:23Her ability to fly around the arena while launching energy spheres creates a chaotic battle
02:27battle, where even seasoned gamers struggle to find safe ground.
02:30Timing your dodges perfectly while landing precise hits is crucial but easier said than
02:35done when facing her unpredictable patterns.
02:37And if that wasn't bad enough, you also have to contend with a very hard-to-control camera.
02:46IB1 CELL240
02:47ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON
02:53While you could easily argue that Balthias or even the true final boss All Mine should be
02:57in this spot, we're going to have to give it to this frightfully fast mecha.
03:01Not only does it have a design very reminiscent of Kubelay from the Gundam series, but it also
03:05functions like it too, with its powerful long-range funnel-like laser beams that can hit you from
03:10many different angles. You'll have to have excellent reaction times in order to survive
03:14its onslaught and get some of your own damage in. And if you manage to down it, it'll come straight
03:19back up again for Round 2.
03:21The coral has carried us. Disseminated us across the stars.
03:27DEMIFIEND
03:27SHIN MIGAMI TENSEI V
03:33Considering all the powerful demons DEMIFIEND conquered in SHIN MIGAMI TENSEI III NOCTURN,
03:37it's absolutely no surprise that this encounter is a complete battle of survival.
03:42Not only is DEMIFIEND's stats all completely maxed, but he will resist all elements and status ailments.
03:47He comes equipped with a plethora of powerful skills that you'll all remember using from his debut
03:51game, such as Freakugle. Much like Naobino themself, the protagonist-turned-DLC boss will summon his
03:57very own demons to back him up, replacing them when defeated. It's highly recommended that you go into
04:02this fight with your team at the max level of 99, otherwise you're in for a very, very long fight.
04:12BALOS
04:13CAVE STORY
04:18For most of its playtime, Cave Story is a challenging but fairly conquerable game.
04:22But if you want to get the true ending to this beloved indie adventure,
04:25you're going to get the rug pulled from under your feet.
04:28The Bloodstained Sanctuary is an absolutely brutal final level,
04:31and waiting for you at the end of it is BALOS.
04:33This guy does not give you a break, flying around, summoning lightning, and trying to stomp your skull.
04:38But that's nothing compared to his second form, which takes the stomping to another level.
04:42The final form is just cruel, and honestly, you're best off firing everything you have at him in the hopes
04:47that you get lucky.
04:48Worst of all, it's very hard to learn his patterns, as each time you lose the battle,
04:53you start from the beginning of the Sanctuary, meaning you'll likely have forgotten everything
04:56you learned by the time you reach him again.
05:02C'Thun
05:02World of Warcraft
05:04C'Thun is one of World of Warcraft's most iconic and challenging raid bosses.
05:07With its devastating I-beams, tentacles, and his ability to consume players,
05:12defeating C'Thun requires precise execution and perfect timing from every member of your party.
05:17So why does this battle make it on this list?
05:19Well, due to a bug, C'Thun was impossible to defeat for quite a long time after he was added into
05:23the game.
05:24Of course, Blizzard would end up patching it later down the line,
05:26allowing for people to finally beat this old god.
05:29But for anyone who battled against its original form back in the day,
05:32it's an encounter they'll certainly never forget.
05:35Sister Frida and Father Ariandel
05:36Dark Souls 3
05:43While both the Nameless King and Slave Knight Gale are both worthy candidates for this list,
05:47we have to acknowledge the brutality that is the Sister Frida boss fight.
05:51Equipped with a long-range giant scythe, this battle is a crazy test of endurance right from the get-go.
05:55If you manage to defeat her first form, she'll revive herself and ring forth Father Ariandel into the battle.
06:01But Sister Frida actually has the third Black Flame form that's even worse than the previous two parts of this
06:06fight.
06:06Be sure to use your Estus flasks wisely during this long, drawn-out battle.
06:18Metroid Dread
06:25Like those that came before it, Metroid Dread upholds the high difficulty the series is known for,
06:30and Nintendo couldn't have included a better boss to make us feel actual dread than Raven Beak.
06:35In three brutal phases, the Chozo Warrior demands extremely fast reaction time,
06:39unless you want your health quickly depleted to zero.
06:52Whether you're right next to him or on the other side of the arena, it doesn't matter.
06:56He can blast you apart just as easily as rip you to shreds with his claws.
06:59His agility and strength is unmatched by anything Metroid gave us this century.
07:03In the ultra-hard Dread mode, he may even be the toughest in the whole series.
07:14Gnarr, God of War Ragnarok
07:24And here we thought Sigrun was bad.
07:26The Valkyrie Queen of 2018's God of War provided a taxiing battle, to be sure.
07:30But Sony Santa Monica outdid themselves with Gnarr.
07:33As the final big post-game mission, Ragnarok goes out with a bang, if you can get through it.
07:39She naturally has the highest power level of any enemy at nine.
07:42So even if you drop the difficulty level all the way down, her hits will do major damage.
07:51Gnarr, God of War Ragnarok
07:54Most of her attacks are hard to predict and, if they connect, they can drain your health bar
07:58in a matter of moments. That's not to mention two unblockable grabs,
08:02which are far more infuriating than any of her other attacks.
08:20The final boss of Hollow Knight is a tough challenge to overcome.
08:23But with the Godmaster expansion, developer Teen Cherry made it even harder.
08:28Absolute Radiance is a mix of undeniable power and an ungodly speed at which it can unleash it.
08:33Most of its attacks have either been increased in strength or, in terms of its projectile-based attacks,
08:38in capacity. Thankfully, your little knight should be well-powered by the time you face it.
08:51And since it's an enhanced version of a boss fought previously,
08:54you should know what to do even if actually doing it is a hassle.
08:57Fought across six phases, Absolute Radiance is the peak of what Hollow Knight can offer.
09:08Yosora Kingdom Hearts 3 Remind
09:12Time to end this.
09:13Despite being games based around Disney franchises, the Kingdom Hearts series is no stranger to brutally
09:18hard boss fights that would leave any adult weeping. The DLC for the latest main entry,
09:23however, outdid everything before it with Yosora. This mysterious character will hit you with a barrage of
09:28attacks that will quickly take all of your HP as he teleports around the arena. He also has the
09:32ability to decrease your max HP as well as steal your Keyblade, which stops you from being able to
09:37attack, guard, and use magic. Trust us when we say you'll be hearing the low health beeping noise
09:42throughout most of this fight.
09:44I guess that my powers aren't needed yet.
09:48Fatalis Monster Hunter World
09:54In a game series where the main objective is to fight monsters in tough boss fights,
09:59Fatalis stands out above all the rest. This Elder Dragon wields an extremely dangerous moveset with
10:04three different super attacks that'll guarantee you'll get carded if you're hit by just one.
10:08If you and your teammates fail to break its head by the start of the third phase,
10:12Fatalis will become supercharged with all of its fire attacks turning blue and causing even more
10:16damage. Even if you have the strongest gear available, you'll need to take advantage of
10:20everything the game offers you during this battle, such as siege weapons, mantles, and wall bangs.
10:25And worst of all is you only have 30 minutes to defeat it.
10:38Dr. Cal's Robot
10:40Cuphead
10:46While Chef Saltbaker of the DLC came close to matching it,
10:50there's just no topping the frustration that comes with fighting Dr. Cal's Robot.
10:54Cuphead mostly consists of boss fights, the majority of which can easily wallop the player.
10:58But this one really tested our dedication in reaching the end.
11:06The first phase sees the robot utilizing a variety of projectiles while you blast apart the three
11:11pieces. With each piece destroyed, more attacks are added. Phase 2 has homing bombs to look out for,
11:16while Phase 3 gives you more projectiles to dodge along with electrified walls. The whole ordeal is
11:22a literal bullet hell, and you won't have nearly enough firepower to make it balanced.
11:311. Sans Undertale
11:40If you choose to go down the genocide route, meaning you've killed every single monster
11:44you can come across instead of sparing them, Sans will be waiting for you. And honestly,
11:49you probably deserve his wrath. By far the hardest challenge Undertale has to offer by a mile,
11:54the fight against Sans completely clashes with his good vibes persona.
12:06You'll approach the fight like many others, dodging attacks with your little heart. But most of those
12:10attacks are impossible to see coming and lightning fast. There is no making it through without a lot
12:15of trial and error, which means a lot of deaths at the hands of this dopey skeleton. It takes the
12:20utmost
12:21determination. Orphan of Koss, Bloodborne
12:41We're not sure what's more disturbing about this thing. It's fleshy weapon or its tendency to shriek
12:46when it lunges at you. The Orphan of Koss serves as the final boss in the old Hunter's DLC,
12:51and, in typical FromSoftware fashion, is an absolute monster to fight. Despite being much
12:56smaller than many other bosses in the game, it's just as oppressive with its deadly leaps, if not more
13:01so. If you're caught by one, say goodbye to a major portion of your health. Thankfully, it doesn't
13:13transform into something more unsettling for its second phase. It just gets a lot faster and more
13:18aggressive, which is saying quite a bit considering its first phase.
13:28Absolute Virtue Final Fantasy XI
13:38We'll admit this one should come with an asterisk. Found in one of the franchise's
13:42MMO installments, Absolute Virtue was designed by Square Enix to be unbeatable,
13:46at least by the studio's terms. This was due to an enormous health pool, a tendency to auto-heal each
13:52turn and its use of the benediction spell, a full heal that also cured status effects.
14:03The problem was that the studio didn't reveal this, prompting teams of players to spend literal
14:08hours fighting it only for naught. Some were able to do it, but Square Enix retaliated by removing any
14:14methods used to beat it from the game. Only after a wave of backlash was Absolute Virtue finally nerfed,
14:20making him tough, but at least beatable.
14:29Milenia, Blade of Micola, Elden Ring
14:38In any other game, a boss declaring they've never known defeat would make us eager to give them a
14:43rude awakening. But in a From Software game, we knew we had a lot of deaths in our future.
14:48Milenia quickly gained a well-earned reputation for being the holy grail of painfully hard boss
14:52fights in Elden Ring. Avoiding her is extremely hard due to her long sword and multi-hit flurry attack.
15:08And taking damage will stress you out more than normal, as doing so will heal her even if you
15:13block. Phase 2 refills almost her entire health bar while adding Scarlet Raw to her attacks,
15:18a status effect that deals damage over time. There's no shame in summoning allies for this one.
15:33Isshin the Sword Saint
15:35Shadows Die Twice
15:47Unfortunately, you can't summon friends in Sekiro. So when it comes to the final boss,
15:51you'll just have to hope your skills are up to snuff. You'll already be on the edge having fought
15:56Genichiro directly before this. Even if that wasn't the case, Isshin's three drawn-out phases will make
16:01you feel painfully outclassed. His sword slashes have surprising range and will catch you off guard,
16:16as will his AoE attacks. His patterns grow more random with each pause, making it hard to get a
16:22read on what's coming next. It's an incredibly satisfying victory, but one that's definitely not
16:27earned easily.
16:37Consort Radan
16:38Shadow of the Earth Tree
16:43Another entry for Elden Ring, you ask? Well, this final boss fight from the DLC Shadow of the Earth Tree
16:49is here for a very good reason. As soon as you enter through the fog, Radan immediately leaps towards
16:53you, giving you no time at all to summon your Spirit Ashes. His relentless move pool will require
16:58many tries for you to memorize them all. It gets even worse when you enter his second phase, as not
17:03only is he even faster, but will start to cast even wider AoE attacks. This boss fight was so
17:08ridiculous that From Software released a patch almost three months later, nerfing a lot of Radan's
17:12aspects. But for those of you who managed to conquer the original version, we salute you.
