00:00It's three in a row for this football team.
00:03Oh, man, hey, Drake May is cooking,
00:05and if Josh Allen wasn't doing the crazy stuff that he's doing,
00:09I think he will be creeping up into the conversation a little bit more
00:12because he did beat him head-to-head, but Drake May is cooking.
00:17Still got some things to work out around that.
00:19Man, A.J. a little rusty.
00:21He's a little rusty.
00:21They got this thing.
00:23Wiggy, I don't know if they still got it.
00:24Maybe it's too old school, but they got this thing called the judge machine.
00:27They still got that down there?
00:28Yeah, I would hope so.
00:31Wiggy.
00:31Yeah, well, he's a little rusty, though.
00:34We give him a pass.
00:34He's a great player, but, I mean, when you can't run,
00:37you're supposed to spend a lot of time on the judge machines,
00:39and I don't know if he was doing that.
00:42Well, Wiggy lost his touch a little bit on the judge machine.
00:45Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:46Famously, if I remember correctly, when he did that here at the radio station.
00:49I've been out of football a long time, though.
00:51There's a difference.
00:53So, Ty, you're not concerned about that when it comes to A.J. Brown?
00:57No, I'm not concerned about it.
00:58I mean, he'll turn it around.
00:59He's a veteran.
01:00Like I said, he's rusty.
01:02But I think, I mean, this is just my opinion.
01:04I don't know.
01:06But it might be that dark-ass shade he got on, you know,
01:09because, I mean, if A.J. Brown was on the highway
01:12and his helmet was a car,
01:14damn it, he's getting pulled over for two darker tints.
01:17Yeah, I don't get it.
01:18I don't know how dudes wear it.
01:20You can't see, I mean, it's supposed to stop the glare in the sun,
01:24but that's, you can't see the goddamn ball coming without that dark thing
01:28on your face, man.
01:29I mean, that's just my opinion.
01:31Never thought about that.
01:32No, I fear.
01:34That's why I never wore a visor.
01:35I try to, like, look through him, and I'm like, there's no way.
01:38But the one thing that I looked at, Ty, and kind of, you know,
01:41Vrabel saying that, kind of like how he was upset,
01:44and they were able to win this football game.
01:46I feel like when you look at this Patriots football team right now,
01:51as poor as they can play, they still go out there and win football games.
01:55What's it mean?
01:56I don't know if you've ever been a part of a team where, like, you were good.
02:00Yes, I have.
02:01And you're like, wow, we played poorly and we're still winning.
02:04I feel like that gives you a lot of confidence as a player.
02:07That gives you a lot of confidence as a player
02:09because there's been times that we didn't play our best football,
02:12but good teams find a way to win.
02:15And that's what the Patriots are doing.
02:16And that means they're a good team.
02:18They're not playing their best football.
02:19And quite frankly, I don't think you want to be playing your best football right now.
02:23You've got a couple more games in the end of the season.
02:27That's when you want to be playing your best football.
02:29Get all this, you know, craziness out of the way.
02:31Get all your drop balls out of the way right now.
02:34And another thing on the hands team.
02:37You guys, is this free drop?
02:39Is that one of them you talk about on the hands team?
02:40Because, A.J., I'm a big fan.
02:42Y'all know I've been talking all year long,
02:44but you put the people with the best hands on the hands team.
02:47Wiggy, you was on the hands team.
02:49They're going to bring Wiggy in there because if he comes to him,
02:51he's going to catch the ball.
02:52You know, I thought I was pretty good at catching the ball.
02:55I think I had enough in the session,
02:56but I wasn't even on the goddamn hands team.
02:58A.J. Brown, you the top receiver.
03:00You got to get that one right there, man.
03:02I think he's changed, man.
03:04I was upset about that one because that right there could have been costly.
03:07Ty, Vrabel wanted the defense to be better early in that game.
03:11They wanted it on first and second downs.
03:13How do you make that adjustment, and what's lacking there?
03:18I think you have to make the aggressive play calls first.
03:22I mean, put them in a situation where they have to be aggressive.
03:25You know, put the corners, put them in man-to-man.
03:29Send more than they can block.
03:31That's how you get a defense going.
03:33I mean, if somebody makes an individual play,
03:35it takes the pressure off everybody because now that person has the confidence
03:38that I can win this one-on-one battle.
03:40I can maybe play some combination man or different zones in the back end.
03:45But if you want to get your defense going early, play a call that's telling
03:50everybody that you're about to win one-on-one.
03:53We're about to send everybody to try to get to the quarterback.
03:56That's how you get a defense going, and Vrabel knows that.
04:00Ty, and I don't know if you ever played against a quarterback kind of
04:03that had a skill set like Caleb Williams, that has the ability to extend plays
04:09and go off script because of his legs.
04:11And, you know, I know he's dealing with the hamstring,
04:13so he might not be running as much.
04:14But what kind of defense would you be like when you're facing a quarterback
04:19like that?
04:20Are you like, all right, let's heat him up so he can't make those plays
04:24outside the pocket?
04:25Or let's keep him in the pocket and play more zone coverage behind it.
04:30What would be your defensive game plan against a guy who can maybe make
04:34some plays with his legs?
04:37Well, you want to make him as one-dimensional as possible.
04:40When I say to the Patriots, the bet is that he's coming, you know,
04:44from a hamstring injury.
04:47Make him use it.
04:48Let's see if he can use it.
04:49I mean, that's just the way it is.
04:51You know those hamstrings are nagging, and they can mess with you mentally.
04:55But a guy like that, you have to make him one-dimensional
04:58because that's your best chance to win.
05:00I mean, when he can use his legs, he's going to be a lot more effective.
05:04And you know as a defensive back that when you play guys like that,
05:09like a Josh Allen, let's get old school like, you know,
05:12Michael Bix, the Randall Cunningham, the Cam Newtons,
05:16those guys that can extend the play, you have to cover longer.
05:20So that clock in your head is ticking a little bit slower
05:25when it comes to playing those guys.
05:28You know you're going to have to cover longer.
05:30It's not like playing Tom Brady or Peyton Manning where, you know,
05:34if the defense is doing their jobs, they can't ad-lib as much.
05:38So you have to be aware of that, especially in the secondary.
05:42But, I mean, I would make him run because he had a hamstring injury.
05:45He's been out a few weeks.
05:48Yes, it's Caleb Williams.
05:49Yes, he came back.
05:50But hamstrings can nag you all over the field, and guess what?
05:54If you can use it to your advantage, you're out there, fair game.
05:58Ty, this has been a big source of controversy here on the show.
06:02I asked a simple question yesterday of my colleagues.
06:05Who would you take going forward, Caleb Williams or Drake May?
06:11And everybody but me took Drake May.
06:14Where would you fall on that?
06:15Would you draft – if you were drafting today for the rest of their careers,
06:18who would you take as your quarterback?
06:21From what I'm seeing in the progression, I'm going to take Drake May as well.
06:25I'm going to take Drake.
06:27I mean, he's just – it may because he finds a way to make the play at the right time.
06:31Yes, he's made some stupid plays, which all quarterbacks have done,
06:36even, you know, guys that's been around a lot longer.
06:39I think – and, you know, I would say it's for the system too.
06:43If you're talking about pure athleticism and do-it-all, arm strength,
06:48man, I mean, you look at the upside of Caleb Williams, man, it's hard to deny that.
06:53But if you put somebody in the right system and say, okay, hey, I can make all these throws,
06:59I can be calm under pressure.
07:01We've seen that already from Drake May.
07:04And he's already gotten to the Super Bowl.
07:07So if I'm going to pick right now and the way they're playing right now, I'm going to pick Drake
07:10May.
07:11But as far as pure upside, palette-wise, you know, that's a – you know, you've got to give it
07:17to that
07:17the Bears quarterback.
07:19But I'm still taking Drake May if I'm drafted.
07:21Speaking of the Bears, 7-8-1 texter on the Subaru of New England text line points out that you
07:28and Mike Ditka both went to Aliquippa.
07:33Yeah.
07:33Oh, wow.
07:34So did you – I'm sure you had an opportunity to meet him, see him in Hall of Fame stuff.
07:39Yes.
07:40Yes.
07:41I mean, it's a shame that we lost one.
07:43We were actually working on a documentary right now that has been in the works for a few years
07:48because we have, you know, four Hall of Famers from my hometown.
07:51The only hometown that has four Hall of Fame.
07:54Let me put that out there too.
07:55But, yeah, Mike Ditka was the first and, you know, he was the all-time great.
08:00I mean, everyone was chasing him.
08:02Like, and after Mike Ditka, here's Tony Dorsett.
08:05And after Tony Dorsett, it was me.
08:06And after me, it was the Real Rebus.
08:08So just Aliquippa, it was something in the water.
08:10But he was the – you know, I mean, Mike Ditka, he was the player.
08:14He was the coach.
08:15I mean, he was Aliquippa strong.
08:17You know what I mean?
08:18Yeah.
08:18That greatness, that toughness, that's just where we come from, man.
08:22So, you know, we lost a good one.
08:25But the legacy is going to be there.
08:26I mean, if you look at this Hall of Fame speech, Aliquippa.
08:31Look at Tony Dorsett's Hall of Fame speech.
08:34Aliquippa, mine, Aliquippa.
08:36The Real Rebus, Aliquippa.
08:37We always put that up front no matter where we've been because that's where we're from.
08:40So, you know, his legacy is always going to be there, man.
08:44And not just in Aliquippa, but wherever he played and coached.
08:48I mean, everyone is going to remember and love Mike Ditka for who he was.
08:51Some people say that that something in the water was roids, but I don't say that.
08:59Hey, somebody actually there had the dirt to say.
09:02Jeez.
09:03Wait, hold on.
09:04P.A. put them out, though.
09:06Hey, P.A. put out some ballers, man.
09:09That's the joke.
09:09They talk about something in the water because the family tree and the legend.
09:12And I've seen a little clip of the documentary, like some of the stuff that we're editing.
09:16All right, hold on a second.
09:18Aliquippa, the home of four Hall of Famers.
09:20No more swears, please.
09:21I'm out of dumps.
09:22Yeah, no more swears.
09:23Hold off a minute.
09:24Aliquippa brought you four Hall of Famers and Ken Laird.
09:27That's what people created there with somebody saying something jokingly and there's people
09:32running with it.
09:33And I'm like, oh, man, you can't do that because, I mean, you got to make fun of that because
09:37I had to laugh my damn self, you know?
09:39I have a question about the Jalen Hurts injury.
09:42I don't know if you've seen this news, Ty, but Jalen Hurts played a game in London with
09:47the blood clot.
09:48Did you ever have a blood clot?
09:49And what do you make of this Jalen Hurts fiasco that's going on?
09:53No, I was, yeah, those things ain't nothing to play with.
09:58I thought I had one before and was in the hospital.
10:03And I mean, just what you have to go through.
10:05But I'd say my best friend just had a situation with the blood clot and those things are silent
10:12killers.
10:13You can't go out there and play.
10:15How did they, how didn't, how didn't they catch that before?
10:18I mean, but I was sure, I mean, you got, you got to shut him down, man, because nothing
10:22is worth, nothing is worth that.
10:24You know what I mean?
10:24And too many people have been getting, uh, passing away, losing lives over blood clots.
10:31People's lost their careers over blood clots.
10:33So, I mean, it's nothing to play with.
10:35All right, uh, before you go, time for the most entertaining play of the game, which
10:40is brought to you by Apex Entertainment.
10:42Visit over a hundred thousand square feet of pure fun at Apex in Marlboro.
10:47Uh, anything that anybody prefers, you got the TD pass to, uh, to Romeo Dobbs.
10:54That was, yeah, I would say that was a, that was a good one though.
10:56Cause that was a diving catch.
10:58I'd give that one.
10:59Unfortunately, and he ended up getting hurt and he's now on IR, but, um, anything else?
11:04I would say, yeah, he's on IR.
11:07Yeah, he is.
11:07He's on IR.
11:08The markets, Marcus, the Marcus Jones.
11:11They actually have a set.
11:11They have a separate, uh, giant IR list for him.
11:15Yeah.
11:16It's a, wow.
11:17I will go to interception because I'm a defensive guy and we don't get, get too many of those,
11:22uh, play the game things.
11:24You get overshadowed.
11:25So I'm going to say Marcus Jones too on the, uh, on the interception.
11:28That was a great, that was a great interception right there, but the game I've seen better.
11:32Y'all, I mean, let's, let's be real.
11:34It wasn't the most entertaining to me.
11:37I've seen, I've seen a lot better games.
11:39I'm glad we pulled it out.
11:40We won, but I mean, it wasn't, it wasn't a great game on either side.
11:45We were supposed to beat the Jets and Geno Smith, but you always know it's going to be
11:49a tough game because it's a division game and it is the Jets and you never know what's
11:54going to happen.
11:54But that wasn't very, I mean, that ain't the type of game that you, you want to pull
11:59out your popcorn and you're going to keep eating it.
12:01You know what I mean?
12:02You know, you, you, you still going to have a whole full thing of popcorn, uh, watching
12:07that damn game, you know, it was terrible.
12:09Well, I tell you what, the biggest thing we really need to do before you go is what's
12:13going on with your Wolverines.
12:15How do they, how do they stop their 11, 11 million dollar man, I sit him in Bryce
12:21Underwood and now you guys got Indiana, a huge game.
12:24Are they going to stop Tommy car over there?
12:26Or is it, they going back to Bryce?
12:28And you know what?
12:29It's hard in college when you commit that kind of money to someone and don't try to
12:35get everything out of them.
12:37Everybody can't, you know, have the power of a, of, of, of a bill Belichick and say,
12:42you know what?
12:43We're going to start the young guy after we done gave him a hundred million
12:46dollars, you know, the other guy, a hundred million dollars, this whole NIL thing.
12:50And he's getting his money.
12:51I mean, somebody trying to say his face.
12:53That's what I, that's what I'm assuming.
12:54But if you're not getting a job done, this is Michigan.
12:57You got to sit them down.
12:58I'm quite sure it's a whole lot of money somewhere else.
13:01And they're going to have to make up for it.
13:03And I'm actually going to the game this weekend too, because my, my son is graduating.
13:07Shout out.
13:08Hope he can get a jam job, but it's the parents weekend.
13:12It's the parents weekend on Saturday.
13:13So it's my last weekend at Michigan after I go to Florida, but I'm going to be there
13:17live and in person to see it, but I don't know what they're going to do.
13:21I don't know.
13:21Bears got some pool.
13:22Cause you know, Bears is the GM up there now.
13:25Maybe Bears, maybe Bears might be, might be looking for some more money to put somebody
13:31else in there or something or cut their losses, but he's going to have to, I mean, you never
13:35want to not see if he'll do well, but I think the pressure of, of the university of Michigan
13:40and the money that he's making and the way he's playing, it got to be tough on him.
13:45Um, but I know he feels a lot better when he going back to his dorm room, wherever hell
13:49you're living at with $4 million a year.
13:52I mean, he feeling good about himself, but kids want to play.
13:56You want to go to the next level.
13:57And I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in a transport portal.
14:02You know what I mean?
14:03If he don't, if he don't change this year, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
14:06Far be it from me to correct the hall of famer, but it was Charles Woods, uh, not Jones
14:12who had that interception.
14:13I don't want to steal any of his stats from him.
14:17Oh, we know what?
14:18That, that, that was it.
14:19Well, I apologize.
14:21My mistake.
14:22When you say it, Marcus Jones.
14:23Yeah, I thought it was Marcus Jones.
14:25I was like, wait a minute.
14:26Yeah.
14:26Well, maybe it was.
14:27Cause I thought it was 20.
14:29I thought it was 25.
14:30What's, what's where does he pretty good?
14:32He went 20.
14:33He's he's been 22.
14:35Okay.
14:36Talk about guys stepping up.
14:37Yeah.
14:37He's done a good job.
14:38He's done a really good job.
14:39All right, Tyler, we will talk to you again soon.
14:42Okay.
14:43Hey, thanks guys.
14:43See you next week.
14:44Okay.
14:44Uh, that is Ty law, uh, every Tuesday on the Greg Hill.
