00:00I want to kind of stay right here and talk about Quinshawn Junkins a little bit, right?
00:05So through the season so far, he got 24 carries for 54 yards,
00:09and his yards per carry is 2.3.
00:12He finished last game with a 1.8 yards per carry.
00:16And we're looking at this Browns running game for two weeks in a row.
00:19Deshaun Watson has been the Cleveland Browns leading rusher.
00:22That can't cut it.
00:23That's not going to ever get anything done.
00:26Me and you have talked a lot about how Todd Munkin talked all offseason
00:31about the running game being a staple of this offense
00:34and how if you have a strong running game,
00:37that makes things a whole lot easier on your quarterback, et cetera.
00:41And the Browns have not been able to run a football for whatever reason
00:44through the first two weeks.
00:45If you look at the offensive line, I thought they made major improvements
00:49from week one to week two.
00:51But even in week one, the win rate for run blocking, it was top ten.
00:58I went back and I watched the All-22.
01:00Not that I'm a film guru or anything like that,
01:03but I thought there was some opportunities there that Quinshawn Junkins
01:07really just didn't take advantage of.
01:09And last week, I thought the same thing.
01:12I thought the line was pretty good, and I thought there was some situations there
01:15to where he could have took advantage of those, and he hasn't so far.
01:19But now you're back at home, and the one thing about Quinshawn Junkins
01:23that we have seen in his young career, he performs pretty damn well
01:27on that stadium right there on that lake.
01:30The energy is always high.
01:32He just seems to be very vibrant.
01:34And you're going against an opponent right now who is dead last in yards per game.
01:39They are dead last when it comes to rushing touchdowns surrender.
01:43And I know Julian said, well, yeah, they only gave up 75 yards
01:46to B. John Robinson last week.
01:48But overall, they gave up 157 yards rushing,
01:51and Atlanta averaged 4.9 yards per carry.
01:55To me, this is the perfect week, the perfect antidote,
01:59and a perfect team for Todd Munkin, Schweitzer, and George Warhop
02:04to do what they have to do to get this run,
02:06Deuce Daly included, to get this run game together.
02:08What's your thoughts?
02:10Yeah, listen, I think this is a matchup where there's certainly going to be
02:14some opportunities to run the football,
02:15more so than maybe there's been the last couple weeks.
02:17But with that said, I do think a lot of the Panthers' run numbers
02:24are skewed towards week one, where, as Todd Munkin even said this week,
02:30that was just a hot Bears team that could not be stopped that day.
02:34And it's week one.
02:36Week ones are weird.
02:37I mean, the Bears went from scoring 59 points,
02:39everyone thinking, like, they're going to win the Super Bowl,
02:42to scoring three last week.
02:44Yeah, well, that's true.
02:45The weather was horrific, even before the injury.
02:47The weather was terrible, and then obviously there was the whole
02:49Caleb Williams thing, which has become a meme, as we know.
02:51But, yeah, like, I think, you know, there's a lot of that that happens
02:55from week ones to week twos.
02:57I mean, even the Browns, to a degree, like, looked so bad in week one,
02:59and then they looked competent in week two.
03:01So I think that it's maybe not as bad as it seems at times,
03:06and that it's skewed right now because of that first game of the season.
03:08But I still think there could be some opportunities to run the football,
03:11especially without Devin Lloyd out there, you know.
03:14But what I would say is, like, when I've gone back and watched the tape,
03:18and especially this past week in week two against the Bucs,
03:21I just, like, I know people are wondering if it's a Quinchon problem.
03:25I'm not saying you specifically.
03:27I know you said you thought there were some opportunities missed,
03:29but I don't think you think this is, like, Quinchon's washed or something.
03:31But I know people are asking questions about, like, is this on Quinchon?
03:35I just didn't see a lot of lanes last week against the Bucs.
03:38And some of that was, you know, just not great angles
03:42and trying to, like, block some of this stuff.
03:44Some of it was Bucs players disrupting things.
03:47You know, Vita Veya is one of the best defensive tackles in this game.
03:51And he obviously is hard to block.
03:57And I think there was a couple times where,
03:59especially on some of those outside zone runs,
04:02you saw him get across the face of whoever he was supposed to block,
04:05or whoever he was supposed to block him and just, like, blow the play up.
04:09So I went back and I watched it, and it was like I didn't see the lanes
04:13that Quinchon was missing.
04:14So I think it's kind of twofold right now.
04:17When Tom Munkin says, and I know people hate hearing this,
04:20we got to scheme it up better.
04:21We got to execute better.
04:23I honestly think in this instance, like, that's 100% what it is.
04:26Like, they're just not getting the push and the blocks that they need
04:30to sort of seal certain runs or open up certain runs.
04:33And I think there's probably some scheming that goes on,
04:35which is why I asked this week, like, Todd, I asked Travis Weitzer,
04:39if using Deshaun as a runner, because we saw that you were at camp,
04:46or, like, they had designed runs for Deshaun at camp
04:49or more RPO-style stuff for Deshaun at camp.
04:53We have not seen a lot of that in these first couple weeks of the season.
04:59So, you know, I'm curious to see if there's a way you can almost, like,
05:01use him even as a threat of a runner to maybe free up Quinchon
05:06and make some more plays because you're putting a defender in conflict
05:09to then have to choose.
05:10So we'll see.
05:11We'll see.
05:11But I do think there's certainly some reasons to believe
05:14they're going to be better running the football this week.
05:16But I also, you know, I'm not 100% sold that it's going to be as easy
05:20as everyone's making it out to be.
05:22But maybe Devin Lloyd's law, not having Devin Lloyd,
05:24means it is going to be easy.
05:26I don't know.

05:28that we need to see the Browns get corrected.

05:39That video of him walking in and the entire building was like –
05:42because I feel like we see that for coaches.
05:44It was such a cool moment, man.
05:47The one thing we might disagree about a lot as Browns fans in this city,
05:52but every single last one of us loved us some Nick Chubb
05:56and every single thing about him.
05:57Just watching the reel that the Browns posted of his highlights
06:01in a Browns uniform.
06:02I reposted the one on Twitter of him walking back into the building
06:06and just the reception that he received.
06:07That was cool.
06:08Like you said, normally that coaches will get.
06:10And what a cool moment.
06:13And somebody that's so deserving of this entire situation
06:20of having the attention on him, I just thought it was dope.
06:23You go over his Browns career, 6,843 rushing yards, 51 rushing touchdowns,
06:30not to mention what he'd done yards per carry-wise,
06:33over five yards per carry average for his entire NFL career.
06:36He was just one of those dudes to where he didn't say much.
06:41His actions always spoke much louder than his words.
06:44He showed up and he led with his play.
06:47He led with his energy and a dude that you can always count on
06:51to give his very best effort and put his best foot forward.
06:56Like I go through my head, bro,
06:58and I think about some of my top three or four Nick Chubb runs ever, right?
07:03I think about the long touchdown run against the Atlanta Falcons.
07:07I think about the long touchdown run against the Baltimore Ravens
07:11or like the 50-yard touchdown against the Chargers.
07:14It's like this dude gave us so many moments.
07:17What about the first game back after he was hurt against the Eagles?
07:21You know, the stiff arm against the Steelers.
07:23It's like when 24 was out there on that field,
07:26you just felt a different level of confidence when the Browns was on offense.
07:31Yeah, man.
07:32First of all, I was going to say I thought the video of him walking in was cool
07:35because they do that a lot for like new and the new coaches come in.
07:39But at that point, it's like that's just not that it feels like fake
07:42or disingenuous, but it's like, yeah, what is it?
07:46You know, like this guy's coming in.
07:47You're trying to give him a good welcome.
07:49But it's also like, man, like he hasn't accomplished anything yet.
07:51You know, with Nick, it's like you sensed in that building
07:55all those people were there because like it wasn't just like a,
07:58hey, the new coach is going to be here.
07:59Come in the entrance and say hi.
08:01It was like, no, I want to be there.
08:03I want to be there to greet this guy who, frankly,
08:07like changed the culture of this organization and provided.
08:11Let's face it, like since this team came back in 99,
08:15there's not been a lot for Browns fans to celebrate and cheer
08:19and not a lot of winning.
08:21And Nick Chubb is basically a part of all the great winning memories
08:28that this fan base and for some, in some respects,
08:31like a generation of Browns fan has.
08:33Like from 2018 to 2020, I mean, obviously, like he was here
08:40for the first couple of years of the Deshaun situation.
08:44He was injured the one year, but like the 2020 or 2018 through like 2023,
08:50we'll say the year they made the playoffs and the year he got hurt.
08:53He still was basically like here for all those core memories
08:57for a lot of Browns fans that they've experienced winning in recent years.
09:01Like he was, he defined that era and you're right.
09:04Like there's so many good ones to go back to.
09:05And, and I just, I'm just in awe Earl because it is rare that there's a player
09:12so transcendent that like everybody agrees that they like love this person.
09:19Even Miles was controversial to some people.
09:23Yeah, I was going to bring that up because they was here at the same time
09:26and there was always people that teetered on the fence when it came to Miles Garrett.
09:31You never seen that with Nick Chubb and they were in the building at the same time.
09:34Everybody respected him, loved him, adored.
09:36And I don't know if it was because like people always wondered
09:39if Miles like really wanted to be here because like, you know,
09:42before the draft, the year he got drafted, he like,
09:44he was like pleading for Jerry Jones to come get him
09:47because he was from Texas and all this.
09:48Like, I don't know if it was that.
09:49And then obviously when he requested the trade two years ago,
09:52it was like, then it was like all bets were off.
09:54People were like, yeah, this guy's just a paid gun, whatever.
09:57And I, so there was always kind of a weird relationship with, with Miles,
10:02even though people loved him because he was great.
10:04I don't know if people always believed that he like really was bought in all the time.
10:09With Nick, you never worried about that.
10:11And so I, I, I don't know.
10:13Like, I wonder how often we'll ever come across a player like that again.
10:18That is just from the, from everybody in the city,
10:23the fan base, the organization is that respected.
10:27I just hate that this happened to him.
10:29You know, remember a long time ago, we would have these conversations.
10:33Who's better TJ water miles, Garrett, you know,
10:36the conversation that used to really warm my heart and it was cool to be a part of
10:39is you seen him and Derek Henry stand out literally among the rest of the backs in the NFL for
10:47so many years.
10:48And I just thought it was going to be a cool moment to just track their careers and see how
10:53both of them, you know, end up.
10:55And it's unfortunate that Nick Chubb had to suffer that devastating injury that he said, you know,
11:01he never really bounced back from.
11:03So shout out to 24.
11:04We are glad that you are retiring as a Cleveland Brown.
11:08And like he said yesterday to the team, he ain't come up here to lose.
11:12So let's make sure we get a win.

11:14Real quick, I'll just say, like, I don't know if there'll ever be anybody that transcendent again.
11:18But the only, the only thing at the top of my head I can think of is like,
11:21if the Browns figure out the quarterback position and they get it right,
11:24and it's somebody that like genuinely wants to be here and embraces Cleveland and all that.
11:29That, that's the, that's the one answer I think is the answer.
11:33But otherwise, like, that's such a rare thing.
11:35And it's special that, that, that Nick Chubb was that, that important of a player and, and, and that adored
11:39here.
11:40Todd Monkey said that, you know, he named Deshaun Watson the starting quarterback
11:42because he believes he gives us the best chance to win.
11:45You and I were not together for week one.
11:47I didn't do any content.
11:49I was sick.
11:50When I, when I went back and I watched the all 22, I felt like in week one,
11:54despite us being blown out and despite how, how ugly it looked on the surface,
11:58I thought Todd Monkey's offense actually worked.
12:01I thought the concepts were there.
12:03I thought that the wide receivers did a great job in creating separation and running wide open.
12:08I did not think that Deshaun Watson did a good job in anticipating shows and throws or, you know,
12:14getting the ball out on time.
12:16I told G and Tyvus, I thought at times he were seeing ghosts or just didn't trust what he was
12:20seeing overall.
12:22And I, I just thought that the lanes were there in week one for Quinshawn.
12:26He didn't take advantage of it.
12:28You look at week two, I thought the concepts as well.
12:31I thought for the better part of that game, the, the wide receivers was running wide open in space.
12:37The first half, it was what it was.
12:39I don't know what was said in the locker room.
12:42Pretty sure it wasn't on no MLK level, but something was said.
12:46And the balls came out and they flipped the script and they did what they needed to do.
