00:01So, I looked up sack leaders in the NFL in terms of quarterbacks.
00:08Who's been sacked the most?
00:11There's a three-way tie for fourth.
00:14Aaron Rodgers, Malik Willis, C.J. Stroud.
00:16They're sitting at 14.
00:17Geno Smith is third with 16 sacks.
00:20Justin Herbert, how much are we going to have to hear about his offensive line?
00:24All the rookies, he is number two.
00:26He's been sacked 17 times.
00:27Number one in the National Football League.
00:32Quarterbacks accruing the most sacks.
00:3419 total times.
00:36Deshaun Watson has been taken to the ground behind the line of scrimmage.
00:41That was eight.
00:43If he would have been sacked eight times, he wouldn't be in the lead.
00:46It's a lot.
00:47Eight.
00:47Kenny, it could have been 11 or 12.
00:50Okay.
00:50Well, you always do the coulda, woulda.
00:52Like the interceptable passes and stuff.
00:54Why don't you just go join PFF?
00:55Well, this is.
00:56You're going to do this.
00:56Here's what I'm actually crediting Deshaun.
00:58Come on.
00:58It could have been so much worse.
01:00I keep hearing how much pressure he invited, but I saw so often guys were just barreling
01:07into him, and he somehow got out of that.
01:10Some of the biggest plays or biggest attempted plays, because of course there's so many drops,
01:15he was able to get out of.
01:16So it could have been so much worse.
01:19That's what's so crazy about it.
01:20But yeah, he's been sacked the most.
01:21So you want to ask who's to blame for the sacks?
01:23Yes.
01:24Is it, are you asking Watson, Warhop, offensive line?
01:28Yes.
01:28Running game.
01:28Lack of a running game.
01:29Lack of a running game.
01:30Lack of a running game is a good one.
01:32Because they're just teeing off now.
01:33And you could see the Jets with Aaron Glenn, and we knew they were going to be, you know,
01:37come up to the line of scrimmage.
01:38Last year, I was blaming Watson 10, excuse me, two years ago, 10 out of 10 shows on blaming
01:43Watson.
01:43I blamed Watson a ton.
01:44I'm not blaming Watson.
01:45If we're talking about, if you want to power rank blame, I think personnel you're struggling
01:49with, you know, you put yourself, this is an Andrew Barry criticism here.
01:54You did put yourself in a really bad spot where you had to, you had to replace your entire
01:58offensive line.
02:00You put yourself in a really bad spot.
02:02And so you have to get these guys to do better.
02:04Like, I'm not going to blame George Warhop on it as much.
02:07Like, he's, you know, he's the offensive line coach, but I think he's done as admirable
02:11a job as you can with two rookies and a bunch of strangers.
02:14Well, this is a good point because Callahan is where now?
02:17Callahan is in, oh God, where?
02:20He's with Kevin.
02:21Yeah, that's right.
02:21Atlanta.
02:22But, but you know, they were having issues early on with their offensive line.
02:26Like, it's not always just the offensive line coach.
02:29Yeah, but I, and that's a great point.
02:33Because I, I, I think it may be, I got to go back and look back.
02:36I, I think Luke Whipler healthy, and I think some people will agree, Luke Whipler healthy
02:41is probably better than a banged up Elton Jenkins of some, some, some semblance.
02:47But they've had their issues.
02:48Titus Howard's obviously famous for his issues.
02:51But you have Austin Barber there.
02:53You have Spencer Fauno there.
02:56I didn't think that either one of those guys were that terrible.
02:58Now, maybe some people disagree.
03:00PFF, fine.
03:01I didn't think that they, they struggled too terribly much, but yeah, the pass rush got
03:05to him.
03:05David Bailey had his coming out party in the NFL.
03:08Will McDonald was the one who brought things down at the end of that football game on Sunday.
03:13But if we're talking about blame game for that, I think it's, I think it's more personnel.
03:18I think it's more personnel, but I also think that's explainable.
03:21Lack of a running games in there.
03:24Um, I think a lot of that is on Quinshawn Junkins.
03:27I think that Quinshawn got a bit of a pass last year because of the injury and also because
03:31of where he went to college.
03:33Um, now I think that we need to, we need to examine this.
03:37We need to examine our run game.
03:39And, uh, you know, Audrick Estime is a guy who obviously like we had the jokes because
03:43I went to a, I went to senior day a few years ago and Audrick Estime, I think ran the
03:47ball 27 times that day and I was hammered.
03:50So obviously I was listening to Audrick Estime's name so often that I just kept chanting
03:54Audrick, Audrick Estime.
03:56And so now we get Audrick Estime to the point that Zach was texting me about him.
03:59Like, Oh, here's your guy.
04:00I remember.
04:00I know.
04:01It was me and Jack Daniels' guy that day.
04:04Um, this is going to be something that needs to be addressed again.
04:06I think this running game.
04:08And I think that, I think the personnel with the running backs is something that's going
04:11to have to be addressed again this coming off season here.
04:14But I got to get through this season right now.
04:16I think that's an issue.
04:17And the reason I'm not blaming Watson is because two years ago he ran himself into sacks.
04:23He held onto the ball too long.
04:25I don't think he's holding onto the, now he still holds onto the ball a little bit, but
04:30I don't see him scared the way I saw him in 2024.
04:34Like I, cause I go back to the one game they gave up what five sacks against Jacksonville
04:38and what was it?
04:394.9 seconds per.
04:40And he wasn't very good in that game.
04:42Wasn't very good in that game at all.
04:43Cause we thought that the Tampa Bay game might be his Waterloo in the NFL, let alone
04:48the Browns.
04:48So he will still hold onto it because he's, you're a guy who wants him to make plays with
04:53his feet.
04:54I wonder about the under center stuff.
04:56I know a lot of people are wondering about shotgun.
04:59I'm with you on that.
05:00I think that the right now, maybe he's more comfortable in not turning his back to the
05:05defensive line, to the line of scrimmage.
05:08Maybe that is a reason for it where, Hey, we don't really want him going out of boot
05:12because he might not be comfortable turning his back to the, to the line of scrimmage right
05:16now.
05:17That might be a conversation that they've had.
05:19I'm not sure.
05:20I'm, I'm, I'm hazarding guesses there, but I think if you're putting it in order, that's
05:25the order that I put it in.
05:26I'm not really putting it on Watson as much because he's still doing or trying to do what
05:32I want him to do.
05:33He can still make plays with his feet and still go get first downs with his feet.
05:36He's still trying to do that.
05:38I I'm not seeing him play scared the way we saw him play scared two years ago.
05:43And I do think that that's a major difference.
05:45He definitely has, um, especially if you notice a Pittsburgh game, when, uh, Todd was allowing
05:51him to throw the ball down the field and he, he was so, so good and accurate and decisive,
05:58uh, really in half through, through about halfway into the third quarter.
06:02And then things went South in a hurry.
06:05And, you know, they had made their adjustments, but, uh, he, he had come out and there was
06:10confidence in even a vertical basket.
06:12Cause what, what were we nervous about, you know, very early on and in preseason, are we
06:16ever going to be able to throw the ball deep?
06:18And then can I even protect him long enough?
06:19And then I, I got a little more confident with his ability to do that.
06:23But unfortunately in the last game, basically the entire offense was designed around him
06:30evading, you know, getting out of the way of would be tacklers and then throwing on the
06:36run.
06:37And he was good.
06:38He was hitting guys in the chest or the hands.
06:40They just weren't making the grabs.
06:422-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
06:44Mike and Stowe, Mike, you're first up on the fan.
06:46Hello.
06:47Good morning, guys.
06:48Good morning.
06:48So I definitely want to get on.
06:52I totally agree.
06:53It's not to Sean's fault.
06:55He could play better, but if we had a top 10 line right now, we would not be running the
07:01ball as poorly as we are.
07:02And we definitely wouldn't be getting, you know, four or five, eight sacks a game.
07:07And you can see a lot of it.
07:09We're really breaking down on the tackles.
07:11I know a lot of people are still want to talk about Spencer Fano.
07:15I don't think he's playing that great.
07:16When I watch the game, you know, watching the line, a lot of people don't watch the
07:20game.
07:20They want to see what the quarterback does.
07:22But you watch what that line's doing.
07:23Our tackles are not playing that well.
07:26The middle is holding the other team off somewhat, but they can get no push.
07:31It's third and one.
07:32We can't even get a half yard.
07:33So when he rolls out on those corners, the tackle's not doing their job well enough.
07:38There's somebody there to meet him.
07:40So, look, we give him, like you said, a little more time to do some things.
07:44I think you'd really see it.
07:46But let's be sure about one thing.
07:48Is it Deshaun's fault that our offensive line got to the point where we need to replace
07:52five guys in one season?
07:54That was our general manager's whole math.
07:57Yeah, he'll wear that.
07:59He will wear that.
07:59He should.
08:00Because that really set us back, Ken.
08:02And we could be moving much more forward this year right now with running backs who are drafted
08:07to run the ball.
08:09But no, we had our offensive line at a completely different time frame, especially after we
08:13lost Bill Callahan.
08:15And let's say we have not been the same since that day.
08:17Yeah, but I got to tell you, let me just say this.
08:20Like, I have a lot.
08:20Obviously, I have a mountain respect for Bill Callahan.
08:22But again, you got to have the horses.
08:26You can't.
08:26He's not a magician.
08:27I know you're not being that way, but guys aren't magicians.
08:31Like, you can find different ways to get guys from point A to point B, or you can change
08:35where point B is as a coach.
08:37But I think that he would probably not look as glorious as he does in our eyes if he had
08:43this offensive line, Mike.
08:45Oh, of course not.
08:46No, the pieces aren't there.
08:47And like I said, that's Andrew's fault.
08:48You know, he let it get to the point where we needed five name tags for the offensive line this
08:52year.
08:52What a joke.
08:53You know, I know we want to give him all these accolades for his great drafts, but look,
08:58I'll be a little bit more dissective.
09:00Two quarterbacks, two running backs last year.
09:02You know, no offensive linemen.
09:05That was a huge mistake.
09:06Big, big mistake.
09:07Knowing this year what we were dealing with.
09:09We could have had one guy already in his second year and all that.
09:12That's where, Mike, and I think you're making great points.
09:14I just, I want to get to a couple other people and thank you very much for the call.
09:17You know, that's where I want to know, because Bucky Brooks, right?
09:22Bucky Brooks has been adamant.
09:24Louis Riddick, adamant.
09:26Like, you got the person and you got the right person out of there now.
09:30And now you have Andrew Berry.
09:31And obviously, I want to believe that.
09:33I like Andrew.
09:34Okay?
09:35But there are several mistakes there.
09:37Was he in a position to draft offensive linemen?
09:41Was he, because, you know, really, you know, you went out, you go back, you got J.C.
09:45Tretter, you went out, you made the trade, the fifth round pick for Wyatt Teller.
09:49You know, you had already drafted Joel Batonio.
09:51He was the grand old man.
09:53So, some of that stuff might have been set up as it was.
09:55You know, what position was Andrew in?
09:57Because, again, we keep thinking about the last couple of years of the draft.
10:00It's like, okay, Andrew Berry is finally free of Paul DiBodesta.
10:03This is a narrative that people are running around with in the NFL.
10:06Whether it's true or not, that's what we're running with right now in this league.
10:09And a lot of the insiders, the guys who know way more NFL people than either of us,
10:14that's kind of what they're going with here.
10:16You got football lifers going against the baseball guy, right?
10:19So, I got to know here over these next months, getting ready for next year,
10:24no matter what happens, what was Andrew responsible for when it came to the offensive line?
10:30Because there's a lot of times we're giving him passes on other things
10:32because Paul DiBodesta is no longer here.
10:35So, I got to know what's right and what's wrong.
10:38Because we could find out that, oh, no, analytically it was this, that, and the other,
10:41and they couldn't do this, that, and the other, and there were problems there.
10:44Like, I got to know what's real.
10:46Because, obviously, I like one guy.
10:48I did not like the other guy.
10:50And it's easy for me to take Andrew's side.
10:53And I'm talking personally.
10:54It's easy for me to take Andrew's side on that.
10:57Do you think this is part of the reason that they were so steadfast
11:02in whether you believe that this thing was prearranged,
11:05that it was going to be Watson this year,
11:07or that he had a leg up from the get-go,
11:09and it wasn't a fair competition,
11:11which is a criticism that's been levied their way,
11:14do you think this was part of it,
11:15that they knew there were going to be potentially five new offensive linemen
11:19that, in the NFL, that never works to start out?
11:22That just doesn't.
11:23There's just, there's no examples.
11:25And that would have given Deshaun the, the...
11:27Well, that, that, if anything...
11:29Well, listen, even the most ardent Browns hater
11:31who loves Shador Sanders can't sit there and tell me
11:33they want this guy behind that offensive line to start that season.
11:36Right.
11:37Against Jacksonville.
11:38How do we think that would have looked?
11:39You're putting him in harm's way.
11:40Like, if you were a person who listens to this,
11:43you just love Shador, you hate the Browns,
11:45you hate us, whatever.
11:47There's no way, as ardent as you are,
11:50unless you just don't live in reality,
11:52and you think that he's a magician and everything will be fine,
11:55there's no way you could have advocated for him
11:57to be behind this offensive line to start off this season.
11:59Because you're seeing...
12:01Now you're getting some injuries on that offensive line.
12:03You're seeing fluctuation.
12:04And hey, at first, it worked out.
12:06Austin Barber has Wally pipped Tevin Jenkins.
12:09All right?
12:10We'll see what Luke Whipler's able to do long-term
12:12if Elton Jenkins gets hurt, okay?
12:14But again, you've had your issues
12:16over at the tackle spots, over at the guard spots.
12:19Titus Howard?
12:20All right.
12:22DeJuan Jones even struggles.
12:24So not all that's going to get done in one year.
12:27And again, I keep going back to it.
12:28I'm just trying to be fair
12:29and try to call it down the line as much as I can.
12:31Like, yeah, I like Andrew.
12:34It's easy for me to take his side.
12:35I just need to find out what was Paul responsible for
12:38when it came to those previous drafts
12:40and striking out on certain players
12:42and hitting on certain other ones.
12:44Because, you know, now we are really paying the fiddler
12:47for Jedrick Wills.
12:49Because Jedrick Wills should be in, what, year six?
12:51Wurfs should be on a triple-digit contract right now?
12:55You're seven, I think.
12:55Okay.
12:56So that makes it, like, he should be in his prime.
12:58And we should be relying on him
13:00as that we don't got to worry about left tackle.
13:03Here we are.
13:04Here we are.
13:05And yep, yep.
13:07Tristan Wurfs.
13:08I know it.
13:08And I say it.
13:10And I'm right there with you guys.
13:112-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
13:13Can I fit Jim in?
13:14Jim, you got 30 seconds.
13:15Go.
13:16I just want to say, all these people calling in,
13:18I hate that.
13:18I hate that.
13:19Well, it's the offensive line.
13:20It's the offensive line.
13:20Listen, if you watch the film, you watch the games,
13:22Deshaun is doing plenty to put the offensive line
13:24in terrible position.
13:25He's dropping back too far.
13:27He's holding the ball too long.
13:28It's always a combination of things.
13:30These people want to call in and they want to say,
13:32oh my gosh, maybe we should just,
13:33if we have the greatest offensive line in the history of the NFL.
13:36Hold on.
13:37I think that there's been plenty of people that have looked at Deshaun as well.
13:40I just said, I mean, if you're not able to run a bootleg,
13:44you are cutting off a part of your offense.
13:46And I said, he does have a tendency to hold on to the ball too long.
13:50But part of it is that you want him to be able to hold on to the ball
13:52to extend plays with his legs because he still has those.
13:56I get that, Ken.
13:57I'm just saying, the offensive line hasn't been great.
13:58I get that.
13:59But at the same time, you can't believe all of Deshaun's woes
14:02on the offensive line like some callers want to do.
14:05Look, Deshaun's hot garbage for the most part.
14:07He's not going to be here next year.
14:08Enjoy him while he's here.
14:09Hope he does well.
14:10Well, you're not giving me reasons to enjoy him while he's here
14:13if you're telling me he's hot garbage.
14:14Did you think he was hot garbage in that borderline monsoon
14:17when he was putting passes right on the chest
14:20and in the hands of players this past Sunday?
14:23I'd say a bond who couldn't hold on to it.
14:24I mean, if you guys have one or two, like,
14:27two good segments of the show,
14:28do you consider that, like, you guys just had a great show?
14:31I mean, if you're asking the wrong radio show.
14:34If Bond catches the football in that game
14:35on three different occasions, they win, right?
14:38So would we have been saying it was hot garbage
14:40out of Deshaun Watson had they held on to the ball?
14:42I'm not going to deceive myself into thinking
14:44Deshaun Watson is something that he's not lying on.
14:46You're not going to convince me to either.
14:47He's hot garbage.
14:48I don't think he's hot garbage, but I agree with Jim.
14:52Fair enough.
14:53You agree with Jim that the show's hot garbage?
14:56Under scrutiny, he was not able to answer
14:58one way or another.
14:59Coming up in five minutes, I want to get back to this.
15:01And Lyman wants to protect Andy Baskin so badly,
15:05he wants this act banished in public.
15:09Ken Carman, Anthony Lyman, what act is it?
15:12That's five minutes away on the fan.
