00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:58Psalm 142
05:01To the Lord I cry out, to the Lord I plead for mercy.
05:05I pour out my lament before him.
05:08I tell him about my troubles.
05:11Even when my strength leaves me, you watch my footsteps.
05:15In the path where I walk, they have hidden a trap for me.
05:21Look to the right and see.
05:24No one cares about me.
05:26I have nowhere to run.
05:28No one is concerned about my life.
05:31I cry out to you, O Lord.
05:33I say, you are my shelter, my security in the land of the living.
05:39Listen to my cry for help, for I am in serious trouble.
05:44Rescue me from those who chase me, for they are stronger than I am.
05:50Free me from prison, that I may give thanks to your name.
05:54Because of me the godly will assemble, for you will vindicate me.
06:00Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
06:04As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.
06:10Amen.
06:17Psalm 143
06:20O Lord, hear my prayer.
06:22Pay attention to my plea for help.
06:25Because of your faithfulness and justice, answer me.
06:30Do not sit in judgment on your servant, for no one alive is innocent before you.
06:38Certainly my enemies chase me.
06:40They smash me into the ground.
06:42They force me to live in dark regions, like those who have been dead for ages.
06:49My strength leaves me.
06:51I am absolutely shocked.
06:55I recall the old days.
06:57I meditate on all you have done.
07:00I reflect on your accomplishments.
07:04I spread out my hands to you in prayer.
07:08My soul thirsts for you in a parched land.
07:12Answer me quickly, O Lord.
07:14My strength is fading.
07:17Do not reject me, or I will join those descending into the grave.
07:23May I hear about your loyal love in the morning, for I trust in you.
07:28Show me the way I should go, because I long for you.
07:33Rescue me from my enemies, O Lord.
07:37I run to you for protection.
07:41Teach me to do what pleases you, for you are my God.
07:44May your kind presence lead me into a level land.
07:51O Lord, for the sake of your reputation, revive me.
07:55Because of your justice, rescue me from trouble.
08:00As a demonstration of your loyal love, destroy my enemies.
08:05Annihilate all who threaten my life, for I am your servant.
08:11Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
08:15As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
08:20World without end.
08:22Amen.
08:32The Prophet Ezekiel, Chapter 8
08:36In the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month,
08:40as I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me,
08:45the Lord Yahweh's hand fell on me there.
08:49And I saw, and behold, a likeness as to the appearance of fire,
08:55from the appearance of his waist and downward fire.
08:58From his waist and upward, the appearance of brightness,
09:03as it were of a glowing metal.
09:07He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head.
09:11And the Spirit lifted me up between earth and sky,
09:15and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem,
09:19to the door of the gate of the inner court that looks toward the north.
09:24There, where there was the seat of the image of jealousy,
09:27which provokes to jealousy.
09:31Behold, the glory of the Lord God of Israel was there,
09:35according to the appearance that I had seen in the plain.
09:39He said to me,
09:40Son of man, lift up your eyes now, the way toward the north.
09:45And so I lifted up my eyes, the way toward the north,
09:48and saw, north of the gate of the altar,
09:51this image of jealousy in the entry.
09:55He said to me,
09:56Son of man, do you see what they do?
09:59Even the great abominations that the house of Israel commit here,
10:04that I should go far off from my sanctuary.
10:08But you will again see yet other great abominations.
10:13He brought me to the door of the court,
10:15and when I looked, behold, there was a hole in the wall.
10:19He said to me,
10:21Son of man, dig now in the wall.
10:24And when I had dug in the wall, I saw a door.
10:27And he said to me,
10:28Go in, and see the wicked abominations that they do here.
10:34And I went in and looked,
10:36and I saw every form of creeping thing,
10:39abominable animals,
10:40and all the idols of the house of Israel
10:43portrayed around on the wall.
10:46Seventy men, the elders of the house of Israel,
10:49stood before me.
10:51In the middle of them,
10:53Jezuniah, the son of Shaphan, stood.
10:55Every man with his censer in his hand.
10:58And the smell of the cloud of the incense went up.
11:03Then he said to me,
11:05Son of man,
11:06have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark?
11:10Every man in his rooms of imagery.
11:14For they say,
11:16Yahweh does not see us.
11:17Yahweh has forsaken the land.
11:21He said to me also,
11:23You will again see more of the great abominations which they do.
11:28Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Yahweh's house,
11:31which faced the north.
11:33And I saw the women sit there weeping for Tammuz.
11:38He said to me,
11:39Have you seen this,
11:40son of man?
11:41You will see again greater abominations than these.
11:46And he brought me into the inner court of Yahweh's house.
11:50And I saw the door of the temple between the porch and the altar.
11:54There were twenty-five men
11:56with their back toward Yahweh's temple
11:58and their faces toward the east.
12:02And they were worshipping the sun toward the east.
12:06Then he said to me,
12:07Have you seen this,
12:09son of man?
12:10Is it a like thing to the house of Judah
12:13that they commit the abominations which they commit here?
12:16For they have filled the land with violence
12:19and have turned again to provoke me to anger.
12:23Behold,
12:23they put the branch to their nose.
12:26Therefore I will also deal in wrath.
12:29My eye won't spare,
12:31neither will I have pity.
12:33Though they cry in my ears with a loud voice,
12:36I will not hear them.
12:39This is the word of the Lord.
12:42Thanks be to God.
12:56Mary said,
12:58My soul exalts the Lord
13:00And my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
13:05because He has looked upon the humble state of His servant.
13:10For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
13:15because He who is mighty has done great things for me,
13:19and holy is His name.
13:21From generation to generation He is merciful to those who fear Him.
13:28He has demonstrated power with His arm.
13:31He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
13:37He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
13:40and has lifted up those of lowly position.
13:44He has filled the hungry with good things,
13:47and has sent the rich away empty.
13:50He has helped His servant Israel,
13:53remembering His mercy,
13:55as He promised to our ancestors,
13:58to Abraham,
13:59and to His descendants for ever.
14:03Glory be to the Father,
14:05and to the Son,
14:06and to the Holy Spirit,
14:07as it was in the beginning,
14:10is now,
14:11and ever shall be,
14:13world without end.
14:15Amen.
14:23The Gospel according to Saint Mark,
14:26Chapter 3
14:28Jesus made His way up the hill,
14:31and called those whom He wished,
14:33and they went to Him.
14:35He appointed twelve,
14:36whom He also named apostles,
14:38so that they might be with Him,
14:41that He might send them out as messengers,
14:43to preach,
14:44and with power to drive out demons.
14:47And so He appointed the twelve,
14:50Peter,
14:51which was the name that Jesus gave to Simon,
14:53James the son of Zebedee,
14:55and his brother John,
14:56to whom He gave the name of Boagines,
14:59which means the thunderous,
15:01Andrew, Philip,
15:03Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas,
15:05James the son of Alphaeus,
15:08Thaddeus,
15:09Simon the zealot,
15:10and Judas Iscariot,
15:12the man who betrayed Him.
15:15Jesus went into a house,
15:17and again,
15:18a crowd collected,
15:19so that they were unable to eat their food.
15:23When His relations heard of it,
15:25they went to take charge of Him,
15:27for they said that He was out of His mind.
15:32The scribes who came down from Jerusalem said,
15:34He has Beelzebub,
15:36and by the ruler of evil spirits,
15:38He sends the evil spirits out of men.
15:42Turning to them,
15:44Jesus said to them in the form of a story,
15:47How is it possible for Satan to put out Satan?
15:51For if there is a division in the kingdom,
15:53the kingdom will come to destruction.
15:56If there is a division in the house,
15:59that house will come to destruction.
16:03If Satan is at war with himself,
16:05and there is division in him,
16:07he will not keep his place,
16:09but will come to an end.
16:12No one is able to go into the house of a strong man,
16:15and take his goods,
16:18unless he first put cords around the strong man,
16:21and then he will take his goods.
16:26Truly I say to you,
16:27the sons of men will have forgiveness
16:29for all their sins,
16:30and for all their evil words.
16:32But whoever says evil things against the Holy Spirit
16:35can never have forgiveness.
16:38But the evil He has done
16:40will be with Him forever.
16:42Because they said,
16:44He has an unclean spirit.
16:49Then Jesus' mother and his brothers came,
16:52and standing outside,
16:53they sent word to Him to summon Him.
16:56A crowd was sitting around Him,
16:57and they said to Him,
16:59Look, your mother and your brothers
17:01are outside looking for you.
17:03He answered and said,
17:05Who are my mother and my brothers?
17:08And looking at those who were around him
17:10in a circle, he said,
17:12Here are my mother and my brothers,
17:14for whoever does the will of God
17:16is my brother and sister and mother.
17:20This is the word of the Lord.
17:24Thanks be to God.
17:37Now, according to your word,
17:39Sovereign Lord,
17:41permit your servant to depart in peace.
17:44For my eyes have seen your salvation
17:47that you have prepared
17:48in the presence of all peoples.
17:52A light for revelation to the Gentiles,
17:54and for glory to your people Israel.
18:00Glory be to the Father,
18:01and to the Son,
18:02and to the Holy Spirit,
18:04as it was in the beginning,
18:06is now, and ever shall be,
18:08world without end.
18:10Amen.
18:15I believe in God,
18:17the Father Almighty,
18:19maker of heaven and earth,
18:21and in Jesus Christ,
18:22his only Son,
18:23our Lord,
18:24who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
18:28born of the Virgin Mary,
18:30suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
18:33was crucified,
18:35dead,
18:35and buried.
18:36He descended into hell.
18:38On the third day,
18:40he rose again from the dead.
18:42He ascended into heaven,
18:44and is sitting at the right hand of God,
18:47the Father Almighty.
18:49From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
18:54I believe in the Holy Spirit,
18:56the Holy Catholic Church,
18:58the communion of saints,
19:00the forgiveness of sins,
19:02the resurrection of the body,
19:04and the life everlasting.
19:07Amen.
19:12The Lord be with you,
19:15and with your spirit.
19:19Let us pray.
19:23Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:26Christ, have mercy upon us.
19:31Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:37Our Father,
19:39who is in heaven,
19:41holy is your name.
19:44May your kingdom come.
19:46May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
19:50Give us this day our daily bread.
19:53Forgive us our trespasses,
19:55as we forgive those who trespass against us.
20:00Lead us not into temptation,
20:02but deliver us from evil.
20:05For yours is the kingdom,
20:08the power and the glory,
20:10for ever and ever.
20:12Amen.
20:17O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
20:21and grant us your salvation.
20:26Protect and guide those in authority over us,
20:31and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
20:36Endue your ministers with righteousness,
20:40and make your chosen people joyful.
20:45O Lord, save your people,
20:49and bless your inheritance.
20:53Give peace in our time,
20:55O Lord,
20:57because there is none other who fights for us,
21:00but only you,
21:01O God.
21:04O God, make clean our hearts within us,
21:08and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
21:20Let us pray.
21:23Almighty and most merciful God,
21:25whose only gift comes that your faithful people
21:28give you true and laudable service,
21:31grant we beseech you
21:33that we may so faithfully serve you in this life
21:36that we will not fail finally
21:38to attain your heavenly promises.
21:40Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
21:44Amen.
21:54O God, from whom all holy desires,
21:58all good counsels,
21:59and all just works proceed,
22:02give to your servants that peace
22:04which the world cannot give,
22:07that our hearts may be set to obey your counsels,
22:10and our commandments,
22:11and also that, by you,
22:14we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
22:18may pass our time in rest and quietness.
22:22Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
22:26Amen.
22:31Lighten our darkness,
22:32we beseech you, O Lord,
22:34and by your great mercy,
22:36and by your great mercy defend us all
22:37from perils and dangers of this night.
22:41For the love of your only Son,
22:43our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
22:46Amen.
22:50Almighty God, who has given us grace at this time with one accord
22:54to make our common supplications to you,
22:58and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
23:02you will grant their requests.
23:06Fulfill now, O Lord,
23:09the desires and petitions of your servants,
23:11as may be most beneficial for them,
23:16granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
23:19and in the world to come,
23:21life everlasting.
23:24Amen.
23:27With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
23:29and the love of God,
23:31and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
23:33be with us all evermore.
23:36Amen.
