00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 126
05:00When the Lord restored the well-being of Zion, we thought we were dreaming.
05:06At that time we laughed loudly and shouted for joy.
05:10At that time the nation said,
05:12The Lord has accomplished great things for these people.
05:16The Lord did indeed accomplish great things for us.
05:19We were happy.
05:22O Lord, restore our well-being,
05:24just as the streams in the arid south are replenished.
05:29Those who shed tears as they plant will shout for joy when they reap the harvest.
05:35The one who weeps as he walks along carrying his bag of seed will certainly come in with a shout
05:42of joy,
05:43carrying his sheaves of grain.
05:47Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
05:51As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
05:58Amen.
06:03Psalm 127
06:07If the Lord does not build a house, then those who build it work in vain.
06:13If the Lord does not guard a city, then the watchman stands guard in vain.
06:20It is vain for you to rise early, come home late, and work so hard for your food.
06:27Yes, he provides for those whom he loves, even when they sleep.
06:33Yes, sons are a gift from the Lord.
06:37The fruit of the room is a reward.
06:41Sons born during one's youth are like arrows in a warrior's hand.
06:47How blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them.
06:50He will not be put to shame when they confront enemies at the city gate.
06:56Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
07:01As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
07:07Amen.
07:11Psalm 128
07:15How blessed is every one of the Lord's loyal followers, each one who keeps his commands.
07:22You will eat what you worked so hard to grow.
07:25You will be blessed and secure.
07:29Your wife will be like a fruitful vine in the inner rooms of your house,
07:33your children like olive branches as they sit around your table.
07:40Yes, indeed, the man who fears the Lord will be blessed in this way.
07:45May the Lord bless you from Zion, that you might see Jerusalem prosper all the days of your life,
07:52and that you might see your grandchildren.
07:56May Israel experience peace.
08:00Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
08:05As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
08:12Amen.
08:17Psalm 129
08:19Since my youth, they have often attacked me, let Israel save.
08:25Since my youth, they have often attacked me, but they have not defeated me.
08:30The ploughors ploughed my back, they made their furrows long.
08:35The Lord is just, he cut the ropes of the wicked.
08:39May all who hate Zion be humiliated and turned back.
08:44May they be like the grass on the rooftops,
08:47which withers before one can even pull it up,
08:51which cannot fill the reaper's hand,
08:53or the lap of the one who gathers the grain.
08:58Those who pass by will not say,
09:00May you experience the Lord's blessing.
09:04We pronounce a blessing on you, in the name of the Lord.
09:10Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
09:15As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
09:19world without end.
09:22Amen.
09:26Psalm 130
09:29From the deep water, I cry out to you, O Lord.
09:33O Lord, listen to me.
09:35Pay attention to my plea for mercy.
09:42If you, O Lord, were to keep track of sins, O Lord,
09:45who could stand before you?
09:49But you are willing to forgive, so that you might be honoured.
09:53I rely on the Lord, I rely on him with my whole being.
09:58I wait for his assuring word.
10:02I yearn for the Lord, more than watchmen do for the morning.
10:06Yes, more than the watchmen for the morning.
10:11O Israel, hope in the Lord, for the Lord exhibits loyal love,
10:15and is more than willing to deliver.
10:18He will deliver Israel from all their sins.
10:23Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
10:27As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
10:35Amen.
10:40Psalm 131
10:43O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor do I have a haughty look.
10:49I do not have great aspirations, or concern myself with things that are beyond me.
10:56Indeed, I have calmed and quieted myself like a weaned child with its mother.
11:02I am content like a young child.
11:06Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
11:10As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
11:17Amen.
11:25The Prophet Ezekiel, Chapter 1
11:30Now as I saw the living creatures,
11:32Behold, there was one wheel on the earth, beside the living creatures,
11:37for each of the four faces of it.
11:41The appearance of the wheels and their work was like a beryl.
11:45The four of them had one likeness.
11:47Their appearance and their work was as if it were a wheel within a wheel.
11:53When they went, they went in their four directions.
11:56They did not turn when they went.
11:58As for their rims, they were high and dreadful.
12:01And the four of them had their rims full of eyes, all around.
12:07Where the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them.
12:12Then the living creatures were lifted up from the earth,
12:15and the wheels were lifted up.
12:18Wherever the Spirit was to go, they went.
12:22The Spirit was to go there.
12:25The wheels were lifted up beside them.
12:27For the Spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
12:31When those went, these went.
12:35When those stood, these stood.
12:38When those were lifted up from the earth,
12:40the wheels were lifted up beside them.
12:42For the Spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
12:47Over the head of the living creature,
12:49there was the likeness of an expanse,
12:52like an awesome crystal to look at,
12:55stretched out over their heads above.
12:59Under the expanse, their wings were straight,
13:01one toward the other.
13:03Each one had two which covered on this side,
13:06and each one had two which covered their bodies on that side.
13:11And when they went,
13:12I heard the noise of their wings like the noise of great waters,
13:15like the voice of the Almighty,
13:17a noise of tumult, like the noise of an army.
13:22When they stood, they let down their wings.
13:25And there was a voice above the expanse that was over their heads.
13:30When they stood, they let down their wings.
13:33And above the expanse that was over their heads
13:35was the likeness of a throne,
13:39as the appearance of a sapphire stone.
13:43And on the likeness of the throne
13:45was the likeness of the appearance of a man on it above.
13:49I saw it as it were glowing metal,
13:52as the appearance of fire within it all around,
13:55from the appearance of his waist and upward.
13:58And from the appearance of his waist and downward,
14:01I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire,
14:05and there was a brightness around him.
14:08As the appearance of the rainbow
14:10that is in the cloud in the day of rain,
14:13so was the appearance of the brightness all around.
14:17This was the appearance of the likeness of Yahweh's glory.
14:22When I saw it, I fell on my face,
14:25and I heard a voice of one that spoke.
14:30This is the word of the Lord.
14:33Thanks be to God.
14:34Amen.
14:46Mary said,
14:47My soul exalts the Lord,
14:50and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
14:54because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
15:00For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
15:04because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
15:08and holy is his name.
15:11From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
15:17He has demonstrated power with his arm.
15:21He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
15:27He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
15:30and has lifted up those of lowly position.
15:34He has filled the hungry with good things,
15:37and has sent the rich away empty.
15:40He has helped his servant Israel,
15:43remembering his mercy as he promised to our ancestors,
15:48to Abraham and to his descendants for ever.
15:53Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
15:57as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
16:02world without end.
16:04Amen.
16:11The Gospel according to Saint Mark, chapter 2.
16:16After some days when Jesus returned to Capernaum,
16:19the news was spread that he was at home.
16:23So many gathered that there was no longer any room,
16:27not even by the door,
16:28and he preached the word to them.
16:31Some people came, bringing to him a paralytic,
16:35carried by four of them,
16:36and when they were not able to bring him in,
16:39because of the crowd,
16:41they removed the roof above Jesus.
16:44Then, after tearing it out,
16:46they lowered the stretcher the paralytic was lying on.
16:50When Jesus saw their faith,
16:52he said to the paralytic,
16:53Son, your sins are forgiven.
16:56Now some of the experts in the law were sitting there,
17:00turning these things over in their mind.
17:02Why does this man speak in this way?
17:04He is blaspheming,
17:06for who can forgive sins but God alone?
17:10Immediately, when Jesus realised in his spirit
17:13that they were contemplating such things,
17:16he said to them,
17:17Why are you thinking such things in your hearts?
17:20Which is easier to say to the paralytic,
17:23Your sins are forgiven,
17:25or to say,
17:26Stand up,
17:27take your stretcher,
17:29and walk?
17:30But so that you may know
17:32that the Son of Man
17:33has authority on earth
17:34to forgive sins.
17:36He said to the paralytic,
17:38I tell you,
17:39stand up,
17:40take your stretcher,
17:41and go home.
17:43And immediately,
17:44the man stood up,
17:45took his stretcher,
17:46and went out in front of them all.
17:49And they were all amazed
17:50and glorified God,
17:52saying,
17:52We have never seen anything like this.
17:57Jesus went out again by the sea.
17:59The whole crowd came to him,
18:01and he taught them.
18:03As he was going along,
18:05he saw Levi,
18:05the son of Alphaeus,
18:07sitting at the tax booth.
18:09Follow me,
18:10he said.
18:11And he got up and followed him.
18:16Later,
18:17Jesus was having a meal
18:19in Levi's home,
18:20and many tax collectors
18:22and sinners
18:22were eating with Jesus
18:24and his disciples,
18:25for there were many
18:26who followed him.
18:28When the experts in the law
18:29and the Pharisees
18:30saw that he was eating
18:32with sinners
18:32and tax collectors,
18:34they said to his disciples,
18:36Why is it he eats
18:38with tax collectors
18:39and sinners?
18:41When Jesus heard this,
18:43he said to them,
18:44Those who are healthy
18:45do not need a physician,
18:47but those who are sick do.
18:50I have not come
18:51to call the righteous,
18:52but the sinners.
18:57Now John's disciples
18:58and the Pharisees
18:59were fasting,
19:00and people came
19:01and asked to Jesus,
19:02Why is it that
19:04John's disciples
19:05and the disciples
19:05of the Pharisees
19:06fast while yours do not?
19:10Jesus answered,
19:12Can the groom's friends fast
19:14while the groom is with them?
19:16As long as they have
19:17the groom with them,
19:18they cannot fast.
19:20But the time will come
19:21when the groom will be
19:22taken away from them,
19:23and they will fast then,
19:25when that day comes.
19:28No one ever sews
19:29a piece of unshrunk cloth
19:31on an old garment.
19:33If they do,
19:34the patch will tear away from it
19:35the new from the old,
19:37and the worst tear
19:38will be made.
19:40No one ever puts new wine
19:42into old wineskins,
19:43for if they do,
19:45the wine will burst the skins,
19:46and both the wine
19:48and the skins are lost.
19:50But new wine
19:51should always be put
19:52into fresh skins.
19:56This is the word of the Lord.
19:59Thanks be to God.
20:11Now, according to your word,
20:13Sovereign Lord,
20:15permit your servant
20:16to depart in peace.
20:18For my eyes have seen
20:20your salvation
20:21that you have prepared
20:22in the presence of all peoples,
20:25a light for revelation
20:27to the Gentiles,
20:29and for glory
20:30to your people Israel.
20:34Glory be to the Father,
20:35and to the Son,
20:36and to the Holy Spirit,
20:38as it was in the beginning,
20:40is now,
20:41and ever shall be,
20:42world without end.
20:44Amen.
20:49I believe in God
20:51the Father Almighty,
20:53maker of heaven and earth,
20:55and in Jesus Christ,
20:56his only Son,
20:57our Lord,
20:59who was conceived
21:00by the Holy Spirit,
21:02born of the Virgin Mary,
21:04suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
21:07was crucified,
21:09dead,
21:09and buried.
21:10He descended into hell.
21:13On the third day
21:14he rose again
21:15from the dead.
21:16He ascended into heaven
21:18and is sitting
21:20at the right hand
21:21of God the Father Almighty.
21:23from there
21:24he shall come
21:25to judge
21:25the living
21:26and the dead.
21:28I believe
21:29in the Holy Spirit,
21:30the holy Catholic Church,
21:32the communion
21:33of saints,
21:34the forgiveness
21:35of sins,
21:36the resurrection
21:37of the body,
21:38and the life
21:40everlasting.
21:41Amen.
21:46The Lord be with you
21:49and with your spirit.
21:53Let us pray.
21:57Lord, have mercy upon us.
22:00Christ, have mercy upon us.
22:05Lord, have mercy upon us.
22:11Our Father,
22:13who is in heaven,
22:15holy is your name.
22:18May your kingdom come.
22:20May your will be done
22:21on earth as it is in heaven.
22:24Give us this day
22:26our daily bread.
22:27Forgive us our trespasses
22:29as we forgive those
22:31who trespass against us.
22:34Lead us not into temptation,
22:36but deliver us from evil.
22:39For yours is the kingdom,
22:42the power and the glory,
22:44for ever and ever.
22:46Amen.
22:51O Lord, show your mercy upon us
22:54and grant us your salvation.
23:00Protect and guide those
23:02in authority over us
23:05and mercifully hear us
23:07when we call upon you.
23:11Endue your ministers
23:12with righteousness
23:14and make your chosen people
23:17joyful.
23:19O Lord, save your people
23:23and bless your inheritance.
23:27Give peace in our time,
23:30O Lord,
23:31because there is none other
23:33who fights for us
23:34but only you, O God.
23:38O God, make clean
23:39our hearts within us
23:42and take not
23:44your Holy Spirit
23:45from us.
23:53Let us pray.
23:56Almighty and everlasting God,
23:58who is always more ready to hear
24:00than we are to pray,
24:02who is willing to give more
24:03than either we desire
24:05nor deserve,
24:07pour upon us
24:08the abundance
24:09of your mercy.
24:10Forgive us those things
24:12of which our conscience
24:13is afraid
24:15and giving us
24:16those good things
24:17which we are not worthy
24:18to ask,
24:20but through the merit
24:21and mediation
24:22of Jesus Christ,
24:24your Son,
24:24our Lord.
24:25Amen.
24:34O God,
24:36from whom all holy desires,
24:39all good counsels
24:40and all just works
24:41proceed,
24:43give to your servants
24:44that peace
24:45which the world
24:46cannot give,
24:47that our hearts
24:49may be set to obey
24:51your commandments,
24:52and also that,
24:53by you,
24:55we,
24:56being defended
24:56from the fear
24:57of our enemies,
24:58may pass our time
25:00in rest and quietness.
25:02Through the merits
25:04of Jesus Christ,
25:05our Saviour.
25:06Amen.
25:11Lighten our darkness,
25:13we beseech you,
25:14O Lord,
25:15and by your great mercy
25:16defend us all
25:18from perils
25:19and dangers
25:20of this night.
25:22For the love
25:23of your only Son,
25:24our Saviour,
25:25Jesus Christ.
25:26Amen.
25:30Almighty God,
25:32who has given us grace
25:33at this time
25:34with one accord
25:35to make our common
25:36supplications to you
25:38and promises
25:40that when two or three
25:41are gathered together
25:42in your name,
25:43you will grant
25:44their requests.
25:47Fulfill now,
25:48O Lord,
25:49the desires
25:50and petitions
25:51of your servants
25:52as may be
25:53most beneficial
25:54for them,
25:56granting us
25:57in this world
25:58knowledge
25:59of your truth
26:00and in the world
26:01to come
26:02life everlasting.
26:04Amen.
26:08With the grace
26:09of our Lord Jesus Christ
26:10and the love
26:11of God
26:11and the fellowship
26:12of the Holy Spirit
26:14be with us all
26:15evermore.
26:17Amen.
