00:23for 2026 and I'm not in a hurry to find the starting quarterback I I know that Todd Munkin
00:34would disagree I think a head coach is always in a hurry but I I think it's all but done

00:40it's not about trying to you know because some people are going to hear it it's you're I think
00:45so many people are tired of having the discussion with non-Browns fans and they get on the internet
00:50and they fight with people who are non-Browns fans about the Browns and I think it's like I think
00:56to a lot of Browns fans it's like banging your head against the wall guys there there are people who
01:01are fans of Shador Sanders they're not football fans so the things that you see they don't care
01:07about it's all mysticism and all types of craziness and they just feel that he is their man and he'll
01:16probably and I'm sure you'll hear they probably won't think he's got a fair shake I think it's
01:20about as fair as it can be because even though I feel like I've banged my head against the wall

01:24times it's like I don't think that this is set up necessarily I think it's set up for a veteran

01:28get the job possibly but not necessarily Deshaun Watson of all the folks to get that job there's so
01:35many things that just would naturally say veteran older first year coach veteran quarterback young
01:41quarterbacks behind him quarterbacks that really are day two and day three picks behind him one of
01:46the worst QB rooms in the NFL if not the worst QB room in the NFL there's there's just that
01:52much that
01:52goes against and I can say listen I don't know if Munkin's going to start getting cussed out over
01:58this but there's only so much you can do before we go we got to be real we got to
02:02get a season ready
02:03here and you may like the other guy so much but I got to go with somebody who's going to
02:07help me
02:08give me the better chance to win and by seeing their offensive line struggle against a team that's
02:14going to be good but seeing their offensive line struggle seeing the lack of depth they have in
02:19the secondary it's like yeah you're going to you're going to start with the veteran before you go
02:22somewhere else and I'm just willing to accept that and I'm trying to soften the blow of everybody who
02:26wants Shador to start because I just I think he'll start the season as the backup quarterback for the
02:31Cleveland Browns I am curious to hear what you thought because I had such a low bar like I said
02:37and
02:37you're like what you didn't you didn't think he would be able to just cock back the arm and be
02:41able to throw the ball and not that you know we were talking ducks last week in practice about the
02:45quarterbacks and whether it was going to look a little better so I I did wonder from the conception
02:53of the drives that Todd Munkin put together you know they weren't necessarily asking Deshaun to be

03:07even think it was dinking I you know 10 yards yeah everything was right around or just short
03:12of the sticks and that seemed to be the comfort zone and that's where he was there and you know
03:16he he got into a rhythm I don't think he's comfortable I think once he got he got hit
03:21and was shaking his wrist I think you saw the next one was a duck I also don't think he's
03:25comfortable trying to take shots down the field again yet and I don't know when that's going to
03:29happen I you know there's after that hit you know immediately the text were getting in how I shot put

03:35ball again so here we go like again I don't think there were there were a few of those I

03:39if he's physically capable enough to take the punishment of 17 games so we might get to week
03:43two against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers it very well could be Shador Sanders against Baker Mayfield
03:48in that football game that's why you know there's so much that's going to be said because I think
03:53Deshaun Watson's going to win that job and I do think that there's people who because of Shador's fan
03:58base they've become very angry about it and I they might just want to say cut ties that's it I

04:04I I don't think that Deshaun Watson will play very long and so you have to cultivate something with
04:11Shador going hey you're going to be the backup I need you to come into a football game or I
04:16need you
04:16to get ready for a week that you're going to not be starting the entire season I need you to

04:20yourself ready and prepared as if you were going to start because things are going to have to change
04:23and hopefully by that time the offensive line would have gelled a little bit better hopefully
04:28by that time you get your secondary figured out on your defense you're able to help yourself out
04:32with the exception of three guys you get your you get your secondary figured out on your defense and
04:36away you go like you hope that that's going to happen but hope and what really is going to happen
04:40are probably two very separate things right now in the 2026 season you're you're looking in a setting
04:46like that knowing it's not all fair and square it's not all even but you know to start out that
04:51second
04:52drive after they you know ran and it was what three and out to start that second drive after
04:57the the punt return and then the 15 yard penalty immediately on the tripping you know it's second
05:04and 25 and I'm I'm telling you I think Todd took a lot away from that even though it was
05:08only a field
05:09goal drive um the fact that second and 25 in almost any setting is that's the end of the drive
05:16their first year 25 I should say that's the end of the drive that's it as far as the Browns
05:19since we've been on the air 98 percent of drives that start there with a 15 yard penalty that's it
05:27and he was able to complete some passes the Judy throw for what was that 14 or so yards yeah

05:34following back up with Boston you know on on the sideline that was nice I mean that was nice to

05:40and I think look that's that's a start low bar you know can he can he at least have some

05:48of you know we talked about the differentiator at least as far as Zach Jackson was concerned
05:54um this week in practice was that they were able to move the ball a little bit better
05:59with Deshaun maybe Shador was a little better in the drills um that was good to see even though it

06:06only a field goal that was good to see you were wondering if they were even capable of being able
06:10to pull off something like that and you know the pass protection on that drive looked good they could
06:14not run the ball you know and that is something we're going to get into a little bit more I

06:18throughout the week they have to be able to run the football especially if it's going to be a
06:22conservative game plan like we saw um with with Watson there early on like they got to be able to
06:28pound
06:29the ball and they were getting moved back so what is that going to be and that's second teamers that
06:32was
06:33not against starters I do think yeah there were some people who saw Saturday's game are like what
06:37the hell and it's like yeah even though there were good there were plenty of good things to see there
06:41were there were plenty of we'll get into the wide receivers um I don't think quit Sean had much of

06:46chance in that game at all but you know they didn't even really look for Harold Fannin and so to
06:51think
06:51about like Jerry Judy now maybe not as a first option maybe it's a little more equal opportunity maybe he
06:58can fall into his role there were some good things that is good to see there but yeah I I

07:05with you on that like there it wasn't all bad for the love of God again Casey Concepcion showed a

07:09uh Denzel you mentioned that the wide receivers uh your your starting defense I think is going to be
07:16fine the problem is is that anything behind it it just showed how thin you are as a franchise and
07:25it's just prepare yourself for a season that probably isn't going to go that well but I think
07:29a lot of people have yeah I I don't think that anybody's being a dud or anybody like that I

07:34I don't know if Scott's going to get screamed at by people who are around him today as he goes

07:39because of what he said about how he thinks the season's going to go I think a lot of people

07:42prepared for this to not be such a great season I mean again you look in that secondary you look

07:48that offensive line that offensive line needs some time to gel that's again another reason why
07:52did Sean Watson should be the starter be based on what we saw yesterday or what we saw on Saturday
07:59that yeah he the veterans there veterans there for the reason and based on what I've seen based on what
08:06we've seen from Todd Monk it's like yeah he should be the starter it I I wish I could say

08:12very very close maybe I would change my mind in the 30 foot 30,000 foot scheme of things you

08:17maybe hopefully change your mind but if you're looking at a guy who's who's tasked with winning games
