00:00I actually think it's not that big of a deal.
00:03Whoa, tone!
00:06I actually think this is really good for Shador Sanders.
00:08Whoa, tone!
00:10Well, just the way...
00:13I'm up against the ropes here.
00:16Just the way that everything is played out.
00:20Like, do you think one has massively outperformed the other?
00:24I don't know. I'm Hurricane Peter McNeely right now.
00:26You got me in your cocoon.
00:29Keep laughing.
00:29Keep laughing. Keep laughing.
00:31Do you think, Kenny, that one has really outperformed the other in any kind of...
00:36No.
00:37...defining way?
00:38No.
00:39And I know that the accounts online, like I see them every day...
00:43Don't matter.
00:43...the people that are all invested in this, because I've seen some that have been there every single day
00:50that are running fan accounts, and some of them that are attached...
00:53Mostly, let's be honest, the Deshaun Watson fan accounts are gone.
00:58Like, this isn't, you know, four years ago, five years ago.
01:01They're all gone.
01:02Yeah.
01:03And Shador still has a bunch of them, and they're showing only his highlights, but they don't show the Watson
01:08highlights.
01:08Like, it's very slanted.
01:10If you just looked at social media, you would think Shador is crushing Deshaun Watson, but you've been there.
01:15Has that been the case?
01:17No.
01:17No.
01:19It's been pretty even, and depending on what you feel about the quarterback situation, it's been pretty evenly not great.
01:24And it seems like Shador has been more consistent.
01:28Yeah.
01:29But that's on the stuff that we can understand.
01:32That's not the stuff that the coach is understanding when he's screaming at the team for not getting lined up
01:37or not understanding the situation.
01:40You know, we had Zach Jackson say yesterday, or two days ago, that the separator so far, there hasn't been
01:46many,
01:47but the separator so far is that it seems like Watson has been able to move the ball better in
01:52those move-the-ball drills.
01:54Maybe Shador has been better in the stationary drills, but that's not really football.
01:58So, either way, I don't think either has differentiated themselves in a huge way, and that's why, to me,
02:06it's good for Shador because if Shador just plays better in these preseason games, I think he's a starter.
02:12And that could absolutely happen.
02:14Like, I think it could be legitimately down to just this now.
02:18I understand what you're saying, but there's something that, you know, we're trying to find hidden meaning in all this.
02:22And I know that there was a clip of audio, Brian Baldinger said it on another show on ESPN,
02:30where he had said, you know, he's hoping the quarterbacks decide for him.
02:33And I think that's the right way to look at it, Todd Munkin is, because, you know,
02:37you want one of the quarterbacks to step up, take the reins of good play, responsibility of the offense, leadership.
02:44Here's Brian Baldinger. I couldn't agree with him more.
02:47I was in Cleveland last week, Pat. It was Shador Sanders' day.
02:50They'd been rotating days back and forth.
02:52So Shador took all the number one reps when I was there.
02:54He looked good. Todd Munkin wants the quarterbacks to decide it.
02:57He doesn't want to have to make the decision himself.
02:59The play of the quarterback should determine.
03:01The players are going to know who's the best quarterback, the best option for the team is.
03:05You can't lie to your team.
03:06And so he wants the quarterback.
03:07They've rebuilt the offensive line.
03:09The line is trying to figure it out and get together.
03:11You always want to see the starting quarterback have a chance with the starting offense line.
03:15And that's something to be determined as they build this offensive line with George Warhop and Bobby Johnson, the offensive
03:21line coaches.
03:21You know, that's what they mean.
03:22Force me to play you.
03:23Force me to play you.
03:26And I think that that's what Todd Munkin wants.
03:28I don't think that that's what he's going to get.
03:30Because, you know, you're looking at it very black and white.
03:33And I'd love to look at it black and white.
03:35I love things simplified, okay?
03:36I guess I've got to be the one that gets dramatic about it, and I apologize to everybody.
03:39Go ahead.
03:40Because there's that preseason game next Saturday at home against the Bills, but there's also the joint practice.
03:48And a lot more people are putting in meaning to the joint practice.
03:51So don't come after me here, but you can already see what could possibly happen next week where it's like,
03:56well, Deshaun Watson took all the reps in the joint practice.
03:59Chador Sanders is going to start.
04:01Is he really playing the starters in the joint practice after he – or playing the starters in the preseason
04:05game after the joint practice against the Bills?
04:07Because historically, you know, we have had more emphasis on joint practices here over the last five, six years.
04:14But historically, that's been the case where whoever's in the joint practice starting the most is the guy who's the
04:21starter.
04:22And then whoever starts that preseason game after the team that you're practicing with, because you usually play that team
04:27–
04:27Is the backup.
04:27Is the backup.
04:28Yeah.
04:28See, that's – I know that that's going to open up a can of worms.
04:32I'm not saying right now that that's the case.
04:35But I think it's something that needs to be considered next week.
04:37We just have to be understanding of this.
04:39Yeah.
04:39Well, how – has Coach clarified how much time Chador is going to get in Chicago on Saturday?
04:46I wish I could tell you.
04:47I bet he did, but I did not.
04:49Okay.
04:49I do not remember hearing the clip.
04:51We'll play the first half.
04:51The other one will play the second half.
04:52Okay.
04:53There we go.
04:53All right.
04:54Second half.
04:54In the second half or the entire second half?
04:57I took it as the entire second half.
04:59Okay.
05:00There we go.
05:01So that's what you get.
05:03So that's –
05:04So do you think it'll even –
05:05Let's say they both play okay.
05:08Because remember, you're going up against –
05:10Deshaun's going up against the backups mostly, I think, from what I've seen out of Chicago.
05:16So Chador has a chance to play really well because he's going to be going up against nobodies.
05:21Now you could say, well, is he going to be playing with nobodies?
05:23That'll be interesting to see how Todd arranges that.
05:26Yeah, but I still think – and this is where, you know, I think every Browns fan has an argument.
05:30I do think that the decision will be firmly made – I don't know if it's going to be public,
05:35but I imagine that the decision will be firmly made on Monday the 24th.
05:39That's after the Buffalo.
05:40Monday 24th after the Buffalo game because you've got that quick Thursday turnaround.
05:44I don't think you want to play your starter in that Thursday turnaround considering it's a very quick turnaround there.
05:50And then you get a long time off to get your starter either – maybe you want to give him
05:56a little bit
05:56just to get lubed up there on that Thursday because you're going to have a lot of time off.
06:00And you got – well, one guy has played football.
06:02The other guy has played very little football over the last six years, for crying out loud.
06:05And then you're going to try to do something like that.
06:08Like, that's – those are some things we're going to have to take advantage of.
06:11What did you just say before I went off on that little tangent there?
06:14Well, I was just trying to figure out the rep allocation for those preseason games
06:20to see if it would matter if Shador plays really well against the backup backup.
06:24Well, that's the thing.
06:25The JV team.
06:26And I know we talked to you – I know I brought up to you a couple times the other
06:30day,
06:30like kind of almost in passing, of which game would you rather start?
06:34Like, hey, man, you know, we've had a situation before.
06:38Again, Brian Hoyer, preseason game four, meaningless preseason game four against the Bears years ago,
06:43the Jerry Angelo special, where he went out there, lit it up, basically forced himself on this team,
06:50and then because of his attitude and his professionalism, got him into the backup role
06:54instead of that third-team emergency QB role.
06:57Because remember, he supplanted Jason Campbell, if I'm not mistaken.
07:00So, like, you can make a difference on a team that's looking for play in that position.
07:05So, like, if Deshaun Watson goes out there on Saturday and is whatever in the first half
07:11and say, Shador is even whatever in the first half or second half.
07:14And then you go out in game two and Shador just lights up the Cleveland sky
07:19and the fans are getting excited because I got another theory about this.
07:22It's not a theory, but I'm picking up what everybody's putting down here, guys.
07:26I saw your emails.
07:27I saw your messages and tweets and everything and texts even.
07:31I'm picking it up and I'm going to say it here in a second.
07:33Like, Shador, you want to force them to play you, Shador could possibly force them to play him.
07:42And it could be where, hey, you know, if you can intend on Deshaun Watson starting,
07:48like, that I don't think has changed.
07:50We told everybody back in January to be ready for that.
07:53Here we are.
07:55I do believe that he intends on starting Deshaun Watson.
07:59And we'll find out more in the joint practice next week.
08:02But if you have Shador go out there, if Deshaun Watson doesn't look that great in joint practice
08:07and then Shador goes out there in game two and just lights it up,
08:11I think you've got a serious discussion on your hands where you've got to go,
08:14am I quite sure about this?
08:17And that's what you want to do.
08:19That's what you want to do.
08:20So we could see something very nice on Saturday out of both these guys, bad.
08:26It's really up in the air.
08:28It's really up in the air because they've had their good days.
08:30They've had their really, really, really, really, really bad days.
08:33And a lot of the bad day stuff is stuff that should really – I don't think it should scare
08:38Browns fans
08:38because I think a lot of Browns fans are like, yeah, well, if these guys don't work out, see in
08:41April.
08:42But it is certainly concerning where, you know, you're having problems pre-snap.
08:46And both guys have had problems pre-snap.
08:48Both guys have had problems, you know, counts, things like that.
08:50But it's cadence, it is something that's frustrated Todd Munkin because you've highlighted it and so has Todd Munkin.
08:58I mean, Todd Munkin's going to let him have it.
09:00I mean, even before practice, there was a drill yesterday that he seemed pretty upset about just the quality of
09:05what he was seeing
09:06and some of the things that he was seeing that he was upset with.
09:09You know, the lack of attention to detail that he is obviously, as an offensive guy, is going to be
09:13very oriented in.
09:14As a professional football coach, it's going to be oriented in.
09:17Like, that's going to be concerning.
09:19So, I don't think that the race is over based on yesterday.
09:24But you try to read tea leaves as best you can.
09:27But it doesn't mean that Shador's out of the running just because he's starting week two.
09:31He can go out there and prove it that, hey, everybody's rallying around him.
09:35Because you know the fans are going to be with him instead of the other guy.
09:38He can make his case.
09:40Do you think if Deshaun Watson plays well on Saturday, something we just haven't seen in so long,
09:47if he goes out and plays well, again, against probably the Bears' backups, whatever,
09:51do you think that will solidify it, that will end it, there's really nothing Shador can do the following week?
09:57On Saturday?
09:58Yes.
09:59No.
09:59No.
10:02Because you're going to have to take – well, I mean, he just has to –
10:04because I don't think he's going to be realistically that special on Saturday.
10:08I'm asking you if he is, though.
10:10If he's good.
10:11I understand that.
10:11If Munkin works the Munkin magic and treats the preseason game like it's a regular season game
10:17while the Bears are just kind of playing their backup.
10:18I understand.
10:19Well, I think that that's going to be taken into account because you just said what I think a lot
10:22of people
10:22are going to say to us on Monday if he does do that.
10:24But I just don't think it's extremely realistic of what you're saying.
10:27Like, I just don't feel he's going to go out there.
10:30If they're having problems getting in and out of the huddle, that's you.
10:34That's your problem.
10:35That's not the Bears' problem.
10:36The Bears didn't create that.
10:37That you did.
10:38So, if they're still having problems getting in and out, which is something we're going to –
10:41you're going to – guys, you're going to have to be paying attention to that TV
10:43and seeing everything that they do because that is self-inflicted.
10:47And if it's self-inflicted, then I just don't see it to be a very realistic thing.
10:52Because they could go out there and he could just – he's a good athlete.
10:55He could get lucky or create his own luck because he's an athlete.
10:59But if he's having trouble getting it in and getting it into his –
11:03I'm covering my ears right now like you're listening to your offensive coordinator.
11:08It's going to be a boisterous Chicago crowd.
11:09If you could watch – no, I'm just saying you're trying to concentrate on the call that's being given to
11:14you.
11:15It's going to be so loud in preseason game number one, guys.
11:18You have no idea.
11:20If he's having trouble giving that information to his team, they're staying in the huddle too long.
11:26We're having false starts.
11:28We're having problems with guys not in motion because guys don't know
11:31because maybe you're having situations where the quarterback don't know.
11:34Like, these are things that we won't see on Saturday.
11:36And we haven't seen him practice very much unless it's been reported
11:39or unless you've seen Todd Munkin losing his mind over it during practice.
11:44So I don't think it's over, but yeah, there's no doubt I think it trends towards Deshaun Watson.
