01:20That's right, Paul. Interim Warden Connie Clark announced a new policy during Thursday's Jail Oversight Board meeting.
01:25As stated previously, we have finalized the notification policy to ensure loved ones are notified when an individual requires hospitalization
01:33due to a serious illness or injury.
01:36That policy has been signed and will be in effect on next Thursday, August 13th.
01:41Board member Rob Perkins credited Clark for her approach to improving communications with families.
01:46I guarantee you there's no policy even close in Pennsylvania that's nearly as robust and humane and fair.
01:52The new policy requires the jail's on-site medical provider to follow a chain of command that allows a notification
01:58to be made to the person's emergency contact.

02:04The Laurel Highland School Board voted 6-3 to rescind a three-year contract extension for Superintendent Jesse Wallace.
02:11His contract will now end after the 2026-27 school year.
02:15The school board president said the decision was not linked to criticism of Wallace
02:20after two teachers were charged with inappropriate sexual conduct with students.
02:25And the men no longer work for Laurel Highland Schools.
02:28Also, at this week's meeting, the board voted unanimously to fire an employee who was placed on leave.
02:34An Observer Reporter story says the board president did not identify that person.
02:40The Penn Hill School District is warning parents about a possible strike that could impact the start of the school
02:45year.
02:45Workers in the Support Staffers Union, representing teachers, aides, secretaries, and nurses, authorized a strike last month.
02:52The union says the school district backed out of a tentative agreement to prevent outsourced substitutes from being paid more
