00:12Well, that's right, Paul. After more than 50 years in the dark, the Hill District Landmark
00:16celebrated the completion of phase one of its restoration yesterday, led by the Hill
00:21Community Development Corporation. The project includes a first floor cafe, lounge, and commercial
00:27kitchen, a second floor event space that can hold up to 900 people, and the University of
00:32Pittsburgh Community Engagement Center. Phase two of the revitalization is already underway.
00:38The historical new Granada Theater is not just a name, it is black history. In the newsroom,
00:44Tamira Rush News Radio, KDKA. Panther Hollow Bridge is set to reopen to traffic tomorrow morning.
00:50There's a ribbon cutting for that this afternoon. The bridge will reopen at 7 a.m. on Friday.
00:54This link between Oakland and Squirrel Hill was closed in 2024 after an inspection
01:00uncovered structural issues. More than $2 million in repairs on the Panther Hollow Bridge began last
01:06February. Pittsburgh controller Rachel Heisler says the Urban Redevelopment Authority kept poor
01:11records on how it spent COVID relief funds in 2023 and 24. Heisler's audit found that when project
01:18managers left the URA, financial documentation disappeared. It's reasonable for us to expect
01:25that records and documentation are retained so that we can tell the public where this money went.
01:32Heisler says the lack of documentation means the city cannot account for more than $600,000
01:37in spending in two URA programs. Wegmans is breaking ground today on its first store in the Pittsburgh
01:44region in Cranberry Township. It's next to the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. The 115,000 square foot
01:51store is expected to employ around 450 people and will open next fall. This is one of three major
01:57developments in the grocery sector. Meijer is planning to build a location in Cranberry and
02:02last month Kroger announced plans to purchase Giant Eagle for $1.65 billion.
02:09A Powerball ticket sold in Illinois matched all six numbers in last night's drawing,
02:14winning the jackpot of just over $1 billion. This is the largest Powerball prize so far this year
02:20and the eighth largest in Powerball history. KDKA Sports Miami over the Pirates 8-2 last night.
