03:36Yesterday turned the tide back towards Deshaun a little bit,
03:40and you don't want to overreact to one practice,
03:42but I think he needed to go out there and sort of seize the moment
03:45and show what he's all about and remind people why he had the edge in the beginning.
03:50He just looks the part of an NFL starting quarterback.
03:54He can manage all of the things that you need to do with the line of scrimmage.
03:57He's got mobility.
03:58He's got the arm.
03:59He has the total package right now.
04:01If the season started tomorrow, I think it would be Deshaun.
04:05So that's Mary Kay Cavett on, and I know a lot of people might not.
04:08Actually, I think some Browns fans are just kind of like,
04:11hey, whoever's better, let's see who it goes,
04:12because I don't think either one are going to be the starting quarterback in 2020.

04:40There are more people who I think,
04:42if we're downtown Cleveland, Streetsboro, Bay Village,
04:47Avon Lake, coast to coast, or we're talking coast, babe.
04:50But, I think that there are more people who are like,
04:54I don't want Deshaun Watson to play,
04:56because he's a memory of bad football.
04:58They want to see Shador, just to see Shador.
05:01But, I think, honestly, most Browns fans are like,
05:04yeah, let's see what happens in 2027.
05:05Let's see what Dante Moore, or Arch Manning, or Julian Sane,
05:08or Sellers, et cetera, et cetera, are doing.
05:13This, though, in the worst scenario that has ever been thought of.
05:18I brought this up before, but Adam Schefter brought it up yesterday.
05:21This is on Pat McAfee's show on ESPN,
05:23about that week one starter,
05:25and where it's not the end-all, be-all for the Cleveland Browns.
05:28The fact that they open the season on the road in Jacksonville,
05:32then play the next week in Tampa,
05:34they might want to go with a veteran to start the season.
05:37But, it won't surprise me if it's Watson early on,
05:40and Shador for the bulk of the season.
05:42We're talking about who wins the starting job,
05:44but you also have to ask yourself,
05:45which of these quarterbacks is going to play the most?
05:47Now, if Deshaun Watson comes back and plays well,
05:50he's going to keep that job,
05:51and if he struggles and they don't win,
05:53then you have to go get a long look at Shador
05:55to figure out how effective he can be
05:57before a quarterback-heavy draft,
05:59in which you have two number ones.
06:00So, there's a few different ways
06:01to look at this quarterback situation.
06:04The small version is like,
06:05okay, who's going to start opening day,
06:07but who's going to play the most this season?
06:08And that wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be Shador,
06:11despite the fact that Deshaun had maybe his best day at camp
06:13yesterday with all those touchdown passes and completions.
06:16It's not the best-case scenario,
06:19but it's not the worst-case scenario either.
06:22I don't think it's a terrible thing
06:24if Shador were to not start the season.
06:26I do think, again,
06:27we might have to have a very serious conversation
06:30with those who are as deep in the Shador love
06:36as I've ever seen,
06:38who are sending tweets and trying to get us on board
06:41and all the other stuff throughout.
06:44But, I don't think it's the worst-case scenario
06:46because he could go out there
06:47and he could play,
06:48Deshaun Watson could go out there and play poorly,
06:50and then, you know,
06:51Shador Sanders would get his chance
06:52and he might have the bulk of the season.
06:54And it might be beneficial,
06:56not that it is the best case,
06:58no,
06:58but it might be beneficial, Tone,
07:00that you get a little bit of time,
07:02you catch your breath,
07:03you see what's going on around you,
07:04and then you get your chance,
07:06you get your crack at it.
07:07Because, one,
07:07I don't think Deshaun Watson
07:08is a very good quarterback anymore.
07:10Two, you also got to worry about his health
07:13because he's been banged up
07:14throughout these last six years,
07:16seven years now,
07:17really his whole career
07:18going back to his rookie season.
07:20I don't think that he can play a 17-game schedule
07:22even if he were good.
07:23Well, that's why I know you scoffed at the notion
07:25that maybe one edge he could have
07:27is that there'd be more design runs for him.
07:29Well, I scoffed...
07:30Let me say this.
07:32That, I do think,
07:33is actually kind of telling
07:34because there's one guy
07:35who's really athletic and mobile.
07:37The only reason I scoffed at it
07:39is because I think it shows you
07:43just how bad the quarterback situation is
07:45because when you and I
07:46first talked about Deshaun Watson
07:48four years ago,
07:49remember we were talking about
07:50tush-push and things like that,
07:51and you thought it was absolutely ridiculous
07:54to put him in harm's way,
07:55and you were right,
07:57and now it's like,
07:58well, we can do more design runs with him.
08:00Well, he's not a running back.
08:01He's a quarterback.
08:02And he's coming off the injuries, too.
08:03So the athleticism thing,
08:05it's going to be hard to see that
08:07until he actually plays
08:08against another team
08:09that's trying to kill him, right?
08:10Yes.
08:11And so, you know,
08:12he was a freak six years ago
08:13running up and down the field,
08:15and then with the added ability
08:17to throw the ball on the run,
08:18all that stuff was what made him
08:19such a dynamic player,
08:21and the thought was,
08:22all right, over time,
08:23you know, you get better
08:24at just sitting in the pocket
08:25and throwing,
08:26and that never really came for him.
08:27Just never really happened
08:29in any injuries game.
