00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 22
05:00My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
05:05I groan in prayer, but help seems far away.
05:10My God, I cry out during the day, but you do not answer.
05:14And during the night, my prayers do not let up.
05:18You are holy.
05:19You sit as king, receiving the praises of Israel.
05:23In you, our ancestors trusted.
05:26They trusted in you, and you rescued them.
05:30To you, they cried out, and they were saved.
05:33In you, they trusted, and they were not disappointed.
05:37But I am a worm, not a man.
05:39People insult me, and despise me.
05:43All who see me taunt me.
05:45They mock me, and shake their heads.
05:48They say, commit yourself to the Lord.
05:52Let the Lord rescue him.
05:54Let the Lord deliver him, for he delights in him.
05:59Yes, you are the one who brought me out from the womb,
06:02and made me feel secure on my mother's breast.
06:06I have been dependent on you since birth.
06:09From the time I came out of my mother's womb,
06:12you have been my God.
06:15Do not remain far away from me, for trouble is near,
06:18and I have no one to help me.
06:22Many bulls surrender me.
06:25Powerful bulls of Bashan hem me in.
06:29They open their mouths to devour me,
06:31like a roaring lion that rips its prey.
06:35My strength drains away like water.
06:38All my bones are dislocated.
06:40My heart is like wax.
06:42It melts away inside me.
06:46The roof of my mouth is as dry as a piece of pottery.
06:51My tongue sticks to my gums.
06:53You set me in the dust of death.
06:57Yes, wild dogs surround me.
06:59A gang of evil men crowd around me.
07:02Like a lion, they pin my hands and feet.
07:07I can count all my bones.
07:09My enemies are gloating over me in triumph.
07:13They are dividing up my clothes among themselves.
07:16They are rolling dice for my garments.
07:20But you, O Lord, do not remain far away.
07:24You are my source of strength.
07:26Hurry and help me.
07:29Deliver me from the sword.
07:31Save my life from the claws of the wild dogs.
07:35Rescue me from the mouth of the lion
07:38and from the horns of the wild oxen.
07:41You have answered me.
07:43I will declare your name to my countrymen.
07:46In the middle of the assembly, I will praise you.
07:50You loyal followers of the Lord, praise him.
07:53All you descendants of Jacob, honor him.
07:57All you descendants of Israel, stand in awe of him.
08:02For he did not despise or detest the suffering of the oppressed.
08:06He did not ignore him.
08:08When he cried out to him, he responded.
08:12You are the reason I offer praise in the great assembly.
08:15I will fulfill my promises before the Lord's loyal followers.
08:20Let the oppressed eat and be filled.
08:23Let those who seek his help praise the Lord.
08:26May you live forever.
08:29Let all the people of the earth acknowledge the Lord and turn to him.
08:33Let all the nations worship you.
08:37For the Lord is king and rules over the nations.
08:41All of the thriving people of the earth will join the celebration and worship.
08:46All those who are descending into the grave will bow before him,
08:51including those who cannot preserve their lives.
08:55A whole generation will serve him.
08:58They will tell the next generation about the Lord.
09:02They will come and tell about his saving deeds.
09:06They will tell a future generation what he has accomplished.
09:11Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
09:15as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
09:19world without end.
09:21Amen.
09:25Psalm 23
09:28The Lord is my shepherd.
09:30I lack nothing.
09:32He takes me to lush pastures.
09:35He leads me to refreshing water.
09:37He restores my strength.
09:39He leads me down the right paths for the sake of his reputation.
09:44Even when I must walk through the darkest valley,
09:47I fear no danger,
09:50for you are with me.
09:51Your rod and your staff reassure me.
09:55You prepare a feast before me in plain sight of my enemies.
10:00You refresh my head with oil.
10:02My cup is completely full.
10:06Surely your goodness and faithfulness will pursue me all my days,
10:10and I will live in the Lord's house for the rest of my life.
10:16Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
10:20as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
10:25world without end.
10:26Amen.
10:34The prophet Ezekiel chapter 21
10:39Yahweh's word came to me, saying,
10:41Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem.
10:44Preach toward the sanctuaries.
10:47Prophesy against the land of Israel.
10:50Say to the land of Israel,
10:52Yahweh says,
10:54Behold, I am against you.
10:58I will draw my sword out of its sheath,
11:00and will cut you off from the righteous and the wicked.
11:05Seeing then that I will cut you off the righteous and the wicked,
11:09therefore my sword will go out of its sheath against all flesh,
11:12from the south to the north.
11:14All flesh will know that I, Yahweh,
11:17have drawn my sword out of its sheath.
11:19It will not return any more.
11:23Therefore, sigh, you son of man.
11:26You shall sigh before their eyes with a broken heart and with bitterness.
11:29It shall be when they ask you,
11:32Why do you sigh?
11:33That you shall say,
11:35Because of the news, for it comes.
11:38Every heart will melt.
11:40All hands will be feeble.
11:41Every spirit will faint.
11:43And all knees will be as weak as water.
11:46Behold, it comes, and it shall be done, says the Lord.
11:51Yahweh's word came to me, saying,
11:53Son of man, prophesy, say.
11:56Yahweh says, A sword, a sword.
11:58It is sharpened and also polished.
12:01It is sharpened that it may make a slaughter.
12:04It is polished that it may be like lightning.
12:08Should we then make merry?
12:09The rod of my son condemns every tree.
12:13It is given to be polished that it may be handled.
12:16The sword is sharpened.
12:18Yes, it is polished to give into the hands of the killer.
12:23Cry and wail, son of man.
12:25For it is on my people.
12:26It is on all the princes of Israel.
12:29They are delivered over to the sword with my people.
12:33Therefore, beat your thigh.
12:35For there is a trial.
12:37What if even the rod that condemns will be no more, says the Lord Yahweh?
12:42You, therefore, son of man, prophesy.
12:45Strike your hands together.
12:47Let the sword be doubled the third time.
12:49The sword of the fatally wounded.
12:52It is the sword of the Great One, who is fatally wounded,
12:56which enters into their rooms.
12:59I have set the threatening sword against all their gates,
13:03that their hearts may melt,
13:05their stumbling be multiplied.
13:07It is made as lightning.
13:09It is pointed for slaughter.
13:11Gather yourselves together.
13:13Go to the right.
13:14Set yourselves in array.
13:16Go to the left, wherever your face is set.
13:19I will also strike my hands together,
13:22and I will cause my wrath to rest.
13:24I, Yahweh, have spoken it.
13:29Yahweh's word came to me again, saying,
13:32Also, you son of man,
13:34appoint two ways,
13:35that the sword of the king of Babylon may come.
13:38They both will come out of one land and mark out a place.
13:43Mark it out at the head of the way to the city.
13:47You shall appoint a way for the sword to come to Rabbah,
13:50of the children of Ammon,
13:51and to Judah in Jerusalem the fortified.
13:54For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way,
13:58at the head of the two ways to use divination.
14:01He shook the arrows back and forth.
14:03He consulted the teraphim.
14:06He looked in the liver.
14:08His right hand held the lot for Jerusalem,
14:11to set battering rams,
14:13to open the mouth in the slaughter,
14:14to lift up the voice with shouting,
14:17to set battering rams against the gates,
14:20to cast up mounds and to build forts.
14:23It will be to them as a false divination in their sight,
14:27who have sworn oaths to them.
14:29But he brings iniquity to the memory,
14:32that they may be taken.
14:34Therefore, thus says the Lord,
14:36because you have caused your iniquity to be remembered,
14:39in all your transgressions are uncovered,
14:42so that in all your doings your sins appear,
14:45because you have come to memory,
14:47you will be taken out of the land.
14:51You, deadly wounded wicked one,
14:53the Prince of Israel,
14:54whose day has come,
14:56in the time of your iniquity of the end,
14:58thus says the Lord Yahweh,
15:01remove the turban,
15:02take off the crown.
15:03This will not be as it was.
15:06Exalt that which was low,
15:08humble that which was high.
15:10I will overturn,
15:11overturn,
15:12overturn it.
15:13This also will be no more,
15:16until he comes whose right it is,
15:18and I will give it.
15:20You, son of man,
15:22prophesy and say,
15:23the Lord Yahweh says this,
15:25concerning the children of Ammon,
15:27and concerning their reproach.
15:29A sword,
15:30a sword is drawn,
15:32polished for the slaughter,
15:33to cause it to devour,
15:35that it may be like lightning.
15:37While they see for you false visions,
15:40while they divine lies to you,
15:42to lay you on the necks of the wicked,
15:45who are deadly wounded,
15:47whose day has come,
15:48at the time of the iniquity of the end.
15:51Cause it to return into its sheath.
15:53In the place where you were created,
15:55in the land of your birth,
15:56I will judge you.
15:58I will pour out my indignation on you.
16:01I will blow on you,
16:02with the fire of my wrath.
16:03I will deliver you into the hand of brutish men,
16:07skilful in destruction.
16:09You will be fuel for the fire.
16:12Your blood will be in the middle of the land.
16:14You will be remembered no more,
16:16for I, Yahweh, have spoken it.
16:20This is the word of the Lord.
16:23Thanks be to God.
16:35Mary said,
16:37My soul exalts the Lord,
16:39and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
16:44because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
16:49For from now on,
16:51all generations will call me blessed,
16:54because he who is mighty,
16:56has done great things for me,
16:58and holy is his name.
17:00From generation to generation,
17:03he is merciful to those who fear him.
17:07He has demonstrated power with his arm.
17:10He has scattered those whose pride wells up
17:13from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
17:16He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
17:19and has lifted up those of lowly position.
17:23He has filled the hungry with good things,
17:26and has sent the rich away empty.
17:29He has helped his servant Israel,
17:32remembering his mercy,
17:34as he promised to our ancestors,
17:37to Abraham,
17:38and to his descendants forever.
17:42Glory be to the Father,
17:44and to the Son,
17:45and to the Holy Spirit,
17:47as it was in the beginning,
17:49is now,
17:50and ever shall be,
17:52world without end.
17:54Amen.
18:02The Gospel according to St. Mark,
18:05Chapter 6
18:09Then the apostles gathered around Jesus,
18:12and told him everything they had done and taught.
18:14He said to them,
18:16Come with me privately to an isolated place,
18:19and rest a while.
18:21For many were coming and going,
18:23and there was no time to eat.
18:26So they went away by themselves in a boat,
18:28to a remote place.
18:30But many saw them leaving,
18:31and recognised them.
18:33And so they hurried on foot from all the tones,
18:35and arrived there ahead of them.
18:39As Jesus came ashore,
18:40he saw the large crowd,
18:42and he had compassion on them,
18:43because they were like sheep without a shepherd.
18:47And so he taught them many things.
18:50This is the word of the Lord.
18:54Thanks be to God.
19:06Now according to your word,
19:08Sovereign Lord,
19:09permit your servant to depart in peace.
19:12For my eyes have seen your salvation,
19:16that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
19:20a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
19:24and for glory to your people Israel.
19:28Glory be to the Father,
19:30and to the Son,
19:31and to the Holy Spirit,
19:33as it was in the beginning,
19:35is now,
19:35and ever shall be,
19:37world without end.
19:39Amen.
19:44I believe in God,
19:46the Father Almighty,
19:48maker of heaven and earth,
19:50and in Jesus Christ,
19:51his only Son,
19:52our Lord,
19:53who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
19:56born of the Virgin Mary,
19:59suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
20:02who was crucified,
20:03dead,
20:04and buried.
20:05He descended into hell.
20:08On the third day,
20:09he rose again from the dead.
20:11He ascended into heaven,
20:13and is sitting at the right hand of God,
20:16the Father Almighty.
20:18From there,
20:19he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
20:23I believe in the Holy Spirit,
20:25the Holy Catholic Church,
20:27the communion of saints,
20:29the forgiveness of sins,
20:31the resurrection of the body,
20:33and the life everlasting.
20:36Amen.
20:41The Lord be with you,
20:44and with your spirit.
20:48Let us pray.
20:52Lord, have mercy upon us.
20:55Christ, have mercy upon us.
21:00Lord, have mercy upon us.
21:06Our Father,
21:08who is in heaven,
21:10holy is your name.
21:12May your kingdom come.
21:14May your will be done on earth
21:17as it is in heaven.
21:19Give us this day our daily bread.
21:22Forgive us our trespasses,
21:24as we forgive those who trespass against us.
21:29Lead us not into temptation,
21:31but deliver us from evil.
21:34For yours is the kingdom,
21:36the power and the glory,
21:39for ever and ever.
21:41Amen.
21:46O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
21:50and grant us your salvation.
21:55Protect and guide those in authority over us,
22:00and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
22:05Endue your ministers with righteousness,
22:09and make your chosen people joyful.
22:14O Lord, save your people,
22:18and bless your inheritance.
22:22Give peace in our time, O Lord,
22:26because there is none other who fights for us
22:29but only you, O God.
22:33O God, make clean our hearts within us,
22:37and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
22:49Let us pray.
22:52Almighty and most merciful God,
22:54whose only gift comes that your faithful people
22:57give you true and laudable service,
23:00grant we beseech you
23:02that we may so faithfully serve you in this life
23:05that we will not fail finally
23:07to attain your heavenly promises.
23:10Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
23:13Amen.
23:23O God, from whom all holy desires,
23:27all good counsels, and all just works proceed,
23:31give to your servants that peace
23:34which the world cannot give,
23:36that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
23:41and also that, by you,
23:43we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
23:47may pass our time in rest and quietness.
23:51Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
23:55Amen.
24:00Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord,
24:03and by your great mercy defend us all
24:06from perils and dangers of this night.
24:10For the love of your only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
24:15Amen.
24:19Almighty God,
24:20who has given us grace at this time with one accord
24:23to make our common supplications to you,
24:27and promises that when two or three
24:29are gathered together in your name,
24:32you will grant their requests.
24:36Fulfill now, O Lord,
24:38the desires and petitions of your servants,
24:41as may be most beneficial for them,
24:45granting us in this world
24:46knowledge of your truth
24:48and in the world to come
24:50life everlasting.
24:53Amen.
24:56May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
24:58and the love of God
25:00and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
25:02be with us all evermore.
25:06Amen.
