00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 89
04:59I will sing continually about the Lord's faithful deeds.
05:03To future generations I will proclaim your faithfulness, for I say,
05:08Loyal love is permanently established.
05:11In the skies you set up your faithfulness.
05:15The Lord said, I have made a covenant with my chosen one.
05:20I have made a promise on oath to David my servant.
05:24I will give you an eternal dynasty, and establish your throne throughout future generations.
05:33O Lord, the heavens praise your amazing deeds, as well as your faithfulness in the angelic assembly.
05:42For who in the skies can compare to the Lord, who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings,
05:49A God who is honoured in the great angelic assembly, and more awesome than all who surround him.
05:58O Lord God of heaven's armies, who is strong like you, O Lord.
06:03Your faithfulness surrounds you.
06:06You rule over the proud sea.
06:08When its waves surge, you calm them.
06:12You crushed the proud one and killed it.
06:15With your strong arm, you scattered your enemies.
06:19The heavens belong to you as to the earth.
06:23You made the world and all that it contains.
06:28You created the north and the south, Tabor and Hermon, or rejoice in your name.
06:36Your arm is powerful, your hand strong, your right hand victorious.
06:42Equity and justice are the foundation of your throne.
06:47Loyal love and faithfulness characterize your rule.
06:52How blessed are the people who worship you, O Lord.
06:56They experience your favour.
07:00They rejoice in your name all day long, and are vindicated by your justice.
07:08For you give them splendour and strength.
07:11By your favour we are victorious.
07:15For our shield belongs to the Lord, our King to the Holy One of Israel.
07:22Then you spoke through a vision to your faithful followers, and said,
07:26I have placed a young hero over a warrior.
07:30I have raised up a young man from the people.
07:33I have discovered David, my servant.
07:36With my holy oil, I have anointed him as King.
07:41My hand will support him, and my arm will strengthen him.
07:47No enemy will be able to extract tribute from him.
07:52A violent oppressor will not be able to humiliate him.
07:58I will crush his enemies before him.
08:01I will strike down those who hate him.
08:06He will experience my faithfulness and loyal love, and by my name he will win victories.
08:14I will place his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers.
08:20He will call out to me,
08:22You are my Father, my God, and the Protector who delivers me.
08:26I will appoint him to be my firstborn son,
08:30the most exalted of the earth's kings.
08:34I will always extend my loyal love to him,
08:37and my covenant with him is secure.
08:42I will give him an eternal dynasty,
08:45and make his throne as enduring as the skies above.
08:51If his sons reject my law and disobey my regulations,
08:56if they break my rules and do not keep my commandments,
08:59I will punish their rebellion by beating them with a club,
09:04their sin by inflicting them with bruises.
09:09But I will not remove my loyal love from him,
09:12nor be unfaithful to my promise.
09:14I will not break my covenant or go back on what I promised.
09:19Once and for all I have vowed by my own holiness.
09:24I will never deceive David.
09:27His dynasty will last forever.
09:30His throne will endure before me like the sun.
09:33It will remain stable like the moon.
09:36His throne will endure like the skies.
09:41But you have spurned and rejected him.
09:44You are angry with your chosen king.
09:47You have repudiated your covenant with your servant.
09:51You have thrown his crown to the ground.
09:54You have broken down his walls.
09:56You have made his strongholds a heap of ruins.
10:00All who pass by robbed him.
10:03He has become an object of disdain to his neighbors.
10:07For you have allowed his adversaries to be victorious
10:11and all his enemies to rejoice.
10:14You turn back his sword from the enemy
10:17and have not sustained him in battle.
10:20You have brought an end to his splendor
10:22and have knocked his throne to the groan.
10:25You have cut short his youth
10:27and have covered him with shame.
10:30How long, O Lord, will this last?
10:33Will you remain hidden forever?
10:35Will your anger continue to burn like fire?
10:39Take note of my brief lifespan.
10:42Why do you make all people so mortal?
10:46No man can live on without experiencing death
10:49or deliver his life from the power of shale.
10:54Where are your earlier faithful deeds, O Lord,
10:58the ones performed in accordance with your reliable oath to David?
11:03Take note, O Lord, of the way your servants are taunted
11:06and of how I must bear so many insults from people.
11:12Your enemies, O Lord, hurl insults.
11:15They insult your chosen King as they dog his footsteps.
11:20The Lord deserves praise forevermore.
11:24We agree. We agree.
11:28Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
11:32as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be.
11:36World without end.
11:39Amen.
11:45The Prophet Daniel, Chapter 6
11:49It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom
11:52120 local governors,
11:56who should be throughout the whole kingdom,
11:58and over them three presidents,
12:00of whom Daniel was one,
12:02that these local governors might give account to them,
12:06and that the king should suffer no loss.
12:10Then this Daniel was distinguished above the presidents and the local governors,
12:15because an excellent spirit was in him,
12:18and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
12:24Then the presidents and the local governors sought to find a reason to convict Daniel as touching the kingdom,
12:33but they could find no occasion or fault, because he was truly faithful.
12:38There was no error or fault found in him.
12:42Then the man said,
12:44We won't find any occasion against this Daniel,
12:47unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
12:54Then these presidents and local governors assembled together to the king and said,
13:00King Darius, live forever.
13:02All the presidents of the kingdom, the deputies and the local governors,
13:06the councillors and the governors have consulted together,
13:10to establish a royal statute,
13:12and to make a strong decree that whoever asks a petition of any God or man for thirty days,
13:19except of you, O king,
13:22he shall be cast into the den of lions.
13:26Now, O king, establish the decree and sign the writing,
13:30that it cannot be changed according to the law of the Medes and the Persians,
13:36which does not alter.
13:39Therefore, King Darius signed the writing and the decree.
13:45When Daniel knew that the writing was signed,
13:48he went into his house.
13:50Now his windows were open in his room,
13:52toward Jerusalem.
13:55And he knelt on his knees three times a day and prayed,
13:58giving thanks before his God as he did before.
14:03Then these other men assembled together
14:06and found Daniel making petition and supplication before his God.
14:11Then they came near and spoke before the king,
14:14concerning the king's decree.
14:17Have you not signed a decree that every man who makes a petition
14:20to any God or man within thirty days except to you, O king,
14:26shall be cast into the den of lions?
14:30The king answered,
14:32this is true according to the law of the Medes and the Persians,
14:36which cannot be changed.
14:39Then the men answered and said to the king,
14:42that Daniel,
14:43who is of the children of the captivity of Judah,
14:46does not respect you, O king,
14:49nor the decree that you have signed,
14:51but makes his petitions three times a day.
14:55Then the king,
14:56when he heard these words,
14:58was very displeased
14:59and set his heart on Daniel
15:01to deliver him.
15:03And he labored until the going down of the sun
15:06to find a way of rescuing him.
15:10Then these men assembled together to the king and said,
15:13Know, O king,
15:14that it is a law of the Medes and Persians
15:16that no decree or statute
15:18which the king established may be changed.
15:22So then the king commanded
15:24and they brought Daniel
15:25and cast him into the den of lions.
15:29The king spoke and said to Daniel,
15:31Your God, whom you serve continually,
15:34will deliver you.
15:36A stone was brought
15:37and laid on the mouth of the den
15:39and the king sealed it with his own ring
15:42and with the signet of his lords
15:45that nothing might be changed
15:47concerning Daniel.
15:51Then the king went to his palace
15:53and spent the night fasting.
15:55No musical instruments were brought before him
15:58and his sleep fled from him.
16:03The king rose very early in the morning
16:05and went in haste to the lion's den.
16:10When he came near to the den to Daniel,
16:13he cried out with a troubled voice.
16:16The king called out and said to Daniel,
16:19Daniel, servant of the living God,
16:21is your God, whom you serve continually,
16:24able to deliver you from the lions?
16:28Then Daniel said to the king,
16:31O king, live forever.
16:33My God has sent his angel
16:35and has shut the lions' mouths
16:37and they have not hurt me.
16:39Because as before him,
16:41innocence was found in me
16:43and also before you, O king,
16:46I have done no harm.
16:48Then the king was exceedingly glad
16:51and commanded that they shake Daniel up
16:54out of the den.
16:56And so Daniel was taken from the den
16:59and no kind of harm found on him
17:02because he had trusted in his God.
17:06The king commanded
17:07and they brought those men
17:08who had accused Daniel
17:09and they were cast into the den of lions,
17:13them, their children and their wives.
17:17And the lions mauled them
17:18and broke all their bones in pieces
17:20before they even reached
17:22the bottom of the den.
17:26Then King Darius wrote
17:27to all the peoples,
17:29nations and languages
17:30who dwell on the earth.
17:33Peace be multiplied to you.
17:36I make a decree
17:37that in all the dominion of my kingdom
17:39men tremble and fear
17:41before the God of Daniel
17:42for he is the living God
17:45and steadfast forever.
17:47His kingdom will not ever be destroyed.
17:50His dominion will be even
17:52to the very end.
17:54He delivers and he rescues.
17:56He works signs and wonders
17:58in heaven and on earth,
18:01delivering Daniel
18:02from the power of the lions.
18:06So this Daniel prospered
18:08in the reign of Darius
18:09and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
18:13This is the word of the Lord.
18:16Thanks be to God.
18:29Mary said,
18:30My soul exalts the Lord
18:32and my spirit has begun to rejoice
18:35in God my Saviour,
18:37because he has looked
18:39upon the humble state
18:40of his servant.
18:43For from now on
18:44all generations
18:45will call me blessed,
18:47because he who is mighty
18:49has done great things for me
18:51and holy is his name.
18:54From generation to generation
18:56he is merciful
18:58to those who fear him.
19:00He has demonstrated power
19:02with his arm.
19:04He has scattered those
19:05whose pride wells up
19:07from the sheer arrogance
19:08of their hearts.
19:10He has brought down
19:11the mighty from their thrones
19:13and has lifted up
19:14those of lowly position.
19:17He has filled the hungry
19:18with good things
19:19and has sent the rich
19:21away empty.
19:23He has helped
19:24his servant Israel,
19:26remembering his mercy
19:27as he promised
19:29to our ancestors,
19:31to Abraham
19:32and to his descendants
19:34for ever.
19:36Glory be to the Father
19:37and to the Son
19:38and to the Holy Spirit,
19:40as it was in the beginning,
19:42is now and ever shall be,
19:45world without end.
19:47Amen.
19:56The Gospel according
19:57to St. Mark
19:58Chapter 14
20:01Now it was two days
20:02before the feast
20:03of the Passover
20:04and the unleavened bread.
20:06The chief priests
20:07and the scribes
20:08sought how they might
20:09seize him by deception
20:10and kill him.
20:12For they said,
20:13Not during the feast,
20:15because there would be
20:16a riot among the people.
20:19While he was at Bethany
20:21in the house of Simon
20:22the leper
20:23as he sat at the table,
20:25a woman came
20:26having an alabaster jar
20:28of ointment
20:28of pure nard
20:30very costly.
20:32She broke the jar
20:33and poured it
20:34over his head.
20:36But there were some
20:37who were very indignant
20:38amongst themselves,
20:39saying,
20:40Why has this ointment
20:41been wasted?
20:42For this could have been
20:43sold for more than
20:44five hundred denarii
20:46and given to the poor.
20:48And they grumbled
20:49against her.
20:50But Jesus said,
20:52Leave her alone.
20:53Why do you trouble her?
20:55She has done
20:56something good for me.
20:58For you always
20:59have the poor
21:00and whenever you want to
21:01you can do them good.
21:03But you will not
21:04always have me.
21:06She has done
21:07what she could.
21:08She has anointed
21:09my body beforehand
21:10for the burying.
21:13Most certainly,
21:14I tell you,
21:15wherever this good news
21:16may be preached
21:17throughout the world,
21:18that which this woman
21:20has done
21:20will also be spoken of
21:23as a memorial
21:24to her.
21:27Judas Iscariot,
21:29who was one of the twelve,
21:30went away to the chief priests
21:31that he might deliver
21:33Jesus to them.
21:34They, when they heard it,
21:36were glad and promised
21:37to give him money.
21:38And he sought
21:39how he might
21:40conveniently deliver him.
21:44On the first day
21:45of the unleavened bread,
21:46when they sacrificed
21:47the Passover,
21:49his disciples asked him,
21:51Where do you want us
21:52to go and prepare
21:54that you may eat
21:54the Passover?
21:57He sent two of his disciples
21:59and said to them,
22:00Go into the city
22:02and there you will meet
22:02a man carrying
22:03a pitcher of water.
22:05follow him
22:06and wherever
22:07he enters in,
22:08tell the master
22:09of the house,
22:10the teacher says,
22:12Where is the guest room
22:13where I may eat
22:15the Passover
22:15with my disciples?
22:17He will show you
22:19a large upper room
22:20furnished and ready.
22:22Get ready for us there.
22:25So the disciples went
22:27and came into the city
22:28and found things
22:29as he had told them
22:31and they prepared
22:32the Passover.
22:35When it was evening,
22:37Jesus arrived
22:37with the twelve
22:38and as they sat
22:39and were eating,
22:40Jesus said,
22:41Most suddenly,
22:42I tell you,
22:43one of you
22:44will betray me,
22:45one who eats with me.
22:48And they began
22:49to be sorrowful
22:50and to ask them
22:51one by one,
22:52Surely not I?
22:54And another,
22:56Surely not I?
22:58He answered them,
23:00It is one of the twelve,
23:03he who dips with me
23:04in the dish.
23:06For the Son of Man
23:07goes even as is written
23:09about him.
23:10But woe to the man
23:12by whom the Son of Man
23:13is betrayed.
23:14It would be better
23:16for that man
23:16had he never been born.
23:20And as they were eating,
23:22Jesus took the bread
23:23and when he had blessed it,
23:25he broke it
23:25and gave it to them,
23:27saying,
23:27Take,
23:28eat,
23:29this is my body.
23:31He took the cup
23:32and when he had given thanks,
23:34he gave it to them
23:36and they all drank of it.
23:38And he said to them,
23:39This is my blood
23:41of the new covenant
23:42which is poured out
23:44for many.
23:45Most certainly,
23:47I tell you,
23:48I will drink no more
23:49of the fruit of the vine
23:51until the day comes
23:53when I drink it anew
23:54in the kingdom of God.
23:57This is the word of the Lord.
24:00Thanks be to God.
24:33Glory be to the Father
24:35and to the Son
24:36and to the Holy Spirit
24:38as it was in the beginning
24:39is now and ever shall be
24:41world without end.
24:44Amen.
24:49I believe in God
24:51the Father Almighty,
24:52maker of heaven and earth
24:54and in Jesus Christ,
24:56his only Son,
24:57our Lord,
24:58who was conceived
25:00by the Holy Spirit,
25:01born of the Virgin Mary,
25:03suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
25:06was crucified,
25:08dead and buried.
25:10He descended into hell.
25:12On the third day
25:13he rose again
25:14from the dead.
25:16He ascended into heaven
25:18and is sitting
25:19at the right hand
25:20of God the Father Almighty.
25:23From there he shall come
25:24to judge the living
25:25and the dead.
25:27I believe in the Holy Spirit,
25:30the Holy Catholic Church,
25:32the communion of saints,
25:33the forgiveness of sins,
25:36the resurrection of the body
25:38and the life everlasting.
25:41Amen.
25:46The Lord be with you
25:49and with your spirit.
25:53Let us pray.
25:56Lord, have mercy upon us.
26:00Christ, have mercy upon us.
26:05Lord, have mercy upon us.
26:11Our Father,
26:12who is in heaven,
26:14holy is your name.
26:17May your kingdom come.
26:19May your will be done
26:21on earth as it is in heaven.
26:24Give us this day
26:25our daily bread.
26:27Forgive us our trespasses
26:28as we forgive those
