00:27to play a game okay yeah I think in all of our eyes we're thinking this exact same thing right
00:31Browns probably need to do an evaluation of their quarterback why does Ian Rappaport have the
00:36report that we're doing an evaluation and uh you know a sort of reassessing of our quarterback on
00:42Sunday morning before we play a game against Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pregame you
00:46know sometimes you get these type of stories that come out postgame you know they're gonna evaluate
00:51how the quarterback play looked throughout the first two weeks in Florida probably wasn't too
00:56great this reads like they're anticipating that it's not gonna go too great today and they kind
01:02of understand that maybe they made a massive mistake in the decision to start this guy over
01:08Shador Sanders Jake to me like it was a decision that never really made much sense I was always kind
01:14of in the camp that any time that Deshaun Watson spends on the field any time that Deshaun Watson
01:20spends with the ones is a waste of time and we saw how bad it looked in week one and
01:25maybe there's
01:25a chance that it could look a little bit better in week two especially just because game you know
01:30week one got away from them so fast but let's be real here like the toothpaste is out of the
01:35tube
01:36if it even looks shaky now in the back of everybody's mind is this report that they're
01:41gonna reevaluate this thing and could potentially make a change understanding that they gotta find
01:46out this year if they've got a quarterback on the roster you know he goes into the fact that
01:50they've got these two first round picks and that you know a more full look at Shador is what would
01:56make the most sense it's like oh yeah it's like kind of in line with what all of us have

02:00saying for months and months and months leading up to this decision to start Deshaun and that's even
02:05the the theoretical side of it right which I think all of us you know can make a lot of
02:09sense of but
02:09then we also turn around and go okay well you know Deshaun gives you the best chance to win games
02:13that's Todd Munkin's MO then that's Todd Munkin's MO and I mean it should be his MO right he's a
02:17head coach of the National Football League it should be let's win as many games as possible
02:21but then you gotta go show it to me so you know I know you read this part out during
02:25the first
02:25segment but when I have to sit here and read things of Cleveland's offensive game operation in week one
02:30left those in the building frustrated I have two questions one who is it in the building that's
02:36frustrating because it didn't sound like it was Deshaun Watson himself didn't sound like it was
02:40Todd Munkin didn't sound like it was Travis Schweitzer I don't like to go pointing fingers Nick but
02:45that sounds like it's probably going uh pointing towards the sky somewhere up front and I don't
02:49mean you know up to the heavens I mean uh to the front office and that was above Todd Munkin
02:53in the
02:53building that might be upset and then you were upset with the game operation the way the offense
03:00looked because that's what I've been sold on for weeks leading up to this decision remember Jake
03:05about the cadence the cadence so we're really gonna look into the cadence for both we got coach Riz
03:11coming on the show you know pontificating about the cadences between quarterbacks and what that
03:17means in a competition we were sold uh we this whole Deshaun Watson nightmare we were robbed with
03:26a nerf gun and then for some reason this offseason while we were down hurt laying on the ground ready
03:33for this thing to be over they decided to back over us with their car all over again I just
03:38don't know
03:39why they did it to us again this whole summer why they did it to us last week in Jacksonville
03:45why they're getting ready to do it to us today in Tampa Jake like we got Todd Munkin saying he's
03:52shortening play calls today they're gonna shorten the play calls for their 31 year old veteran
03:57quarterback that they're paying 46 million dollars to for this matchup now I'm told and kind of of the
04:04belief as well maybe that's to get the other 10 guys in the huddle of what it could potentially
04:11sound like next week with a younger quarterback in the game but but why wasn't it like that like
04:16now you've effectively wasted more than two weeks you've wasted about 21 days uh when you factor in
04:23practice from when they made that decision to name Deshaun Watson the starter where he was getting all
04:29those reps at the one Sanders has been rotating with Talon Green and the scout team they this has
04:35all been a huge waste of time if their decision after today is ultimately just going to be to pull
04:41the plug right and that's the big thing obviously in rapport lined up the fact that this could mean
04:46they switch to Shador Sanders they're obviously not right pre-benching Deshaun following week two
04:50uh being like hey go out there and play Tampa for us but after that bud we're out you know
04:55then you hit
04:56the bench they didn't do that but it seems like you know maybe we're kind of lining up for something
05:00like that and Nick I brought it up earlier this week I think there's a group of fans that this
05:05is
05:05a type of decision that makes them very angry uh and there's multiple reasons why one because I think
05:11this paints Todd Munkin is a complete incompetent moron whether he actually is is or is not right like
05:18making this type of decision we can only ask the questions all right well if you think the guy was
05:23going to be this bad in two weeks and we had to reevaluate the quarterback I mean how many
05:27quarterbacks have we seen benched in two weeks of NFL football you have any off the top of your head
05:31right now it doesn't happen a ton no it's usually about a bare minimum you get about four games
05:36right even I'm thinking back to like Russ when he really stunk uh he got about four games and
05:41they're like okay that's that's enough of Russ they're gonna give Deshaun two so it's gonna look
05:46like okay Todd Munkin made a decision sold everybody that that's the quarterback we think we can win
05:51with and then he has to walk back on his word and tell you no but I also think there's
05:56a group of
05:57fans that are very upset by the idea that and listen I can't tell you that people are wrong by
06:03thinking this I don't necessarily agree with the decision I think you and I are in the same boat
06:07Chador starting week three is probably the best thing to happen to this football team
06:11but I do think there's a group of fans right now that would like to see Deshaun Watson kind of
06:15get his
06:15do justice uh in their eyes and have to face the music when he comes back home to play the
06:21Carolina
06:21Panthers people want their power to flash they want to boo I mean I mean there are going to be
06:27Browns fans in Tampa today like like that is a hub of the country where a lot of you know

06:33Clevelanders or even Clevelanders that have second homes Tampa is a place of the country where a lot of
06:39these snowbirds if you will reside and there are going to be Browns fans in that stadium today they're
06:44going to be Buccaneers fans obviously in the stadium today even Deshaun Watson's getting booed
06:48today too um and like I think this all boils down to Jacob if we try to just get it

06:54I have no expectation that Deshaun looks better today I just don't because I saw with my own two eyes
07:01in real life IRL in Berea this entire summer throughout OTAs and training camp a quarterback that
07:10just was broken a quarterback that was washed physically and mentally he never was able to
07:16stack those days together that Todd Munkin always talked about so like I have very little reason to
07:22believe that he bounces back today and this report kind of feels like the Browns are almost hedging that
07:28too that they kind of have little faith that he bounces back today and that they're priming us for
07:35hey let's not have Monday be like a sky is falling Monday because we're going to reevaluate it and I
07:40already like how matter of fact the phrasing is but from rap sheet in this article the belief is that
07:47the first two games would serve as a natural evaluation oh naturally after for the first two games who
07:54wouldn't look under the hood it's like oh the 31 other organizations wouldn't make a quarterback change
07:59in the first two weeks of the season and it's almost like everybody told you guys that the first
08:05two weeks probably weren't going to go well because you were on the road against two very good teams
08:09with a quarterback who hadn't played a game in almost 700 days and oh yeah you can't play that guy

08:16your home stadium because you can't introduce the home offense yeah I mean you don't look under the
08:21hood of a car that has 3,000 miles on it right now I can tell you I have a
08:24car with about 3,000 miles
08:25I'm not looking under the hood I'm not I mean if I find something gonna be really upset but you

08:29don't do it and that's where the Browns are at this season right now but they are there this is

08:34straight to the point and this isn't a natural evaluation period no no it just so happens you
08:40played two games on the road and again and you can't play the guy in your home stadium that's
08:45what it sounds like why is nobody coming out and saying that like I mean obviously we have talked

08:56play so hot he's got to go figure it out in Carolina or you know figure it out in Cleveland
09:00against Carolina and that's not going to be a pretty place and that's not going to look good
09:04and by the way you start in week three they're probably starting in week four and that's on
09:07national television against the Pittsburgh Steelers where the entire country is going to hear your
09:11fans boo your starting quarterback in your own team on the field before there's even a single
09:15snap played may I add against their division rival right so you know double down make it even so much
09:22worse there are just so many things that are objectively wrong with this but I agree with
09:26you and the the idea that what do I expect today like I sat there and watched a Deshaun Watson

09:31did not like you know look capable of playing the part and then you turn around on Wednesday
09:38and we're listening to Deshaun Watson and Nick maybe I'm just jaded maybe I just don't have the
09:44right perception of this but I don't think it's very hard to do a slap-ass job at quarterback and
09:50then come out and tell everybody I did a slap-ass job at quarterback no I can't it's impossible for
09:55him though Jake he has no fiber in his being I and this isn't personal again I don't know Deshaun
10:01I only have to go off of what he's given us in the four years that he's been here and
10:06in the four
10:07years that he's been here he has shown that he doesn't have a fiber in his entire body that can

10:14held accountable for anything or anything he he simply can't do he simply can't put his hand up
10:20and say hey guys that is my bad that that one's on me it's not his makeup it's the media's

10:27Jake of course yeah 400 yards and five touchdowns we're going for it's Daryl Reiter's fault that he
10:32threw a soul-crushing first drive interception it's Mary Kay Cabot's fault that he almost threw
10:38another one it's Jeff Shadell's fault that he every time that he talks he puts his foot in his
10:43mouth it's the media's fault Jake it's not his fault it's literally anybody else but it's all to
10:50say like leading up to this and the reason why I even bring that up is you walk away from
10:54week one
10:55and by the way it's not just Deshaun I mentioned it's Travis Schweitzer it's Todd Munkin they walked
11:00away from that I don't know the conversations internally in the building but what we've been told
11:03is hey he did some really nice things the offense around him yeah there's some good things on tape
11:07what game are you guys watching and if you're watching it under the influence let me get some
11:12to do like and listen there were things that Deshaun did well in that game right like I thought
11:17there were many moments where he used his legs properly there were times where he was taking
11:20the check down where it made sense and he made the right decision wasn't a good game it just
11:24objectively was not a good game of quarterback you guys got smoke yeah they scored three points in the
11:28first 58 minutes of football I think it's not good like it is objectively bad but to not be able
11:33to
11:34turn around and say yeah that was bad we need to get that cleaned up and like we have a
11:38lot of work
11:39to do this week for Deshaun not to admit that for Todd not to admit that for your offensive coordinator
11:44not to admit that why do I expect change why would anything be different this week if everybody's like
11:50just the things happening around them fair meanwhile I got callers calling me up at night telling me
11:55uh you know you look at it and they're staring at PFF grades and we have two receivers inside the
12:00top
12:0020 when it came to separation in week one may I add that those guys had four catches in two
12:05catches
12:05and one of them with a touchdown that accounted for about 95 percent of his yards like if they're doing
12:11that great of a job what does that tell you and I don't think the offensive line was they were
12:15fantastic but they weren't all that bad we'll talk about them later in the show but like there are so
12:20many things that fundamentally were just okay around him and he wasn't and nobody else can see
12:26it so why do I expect something different to change going into week two why should this be a better
12:31game
12:31against Tampa I've been telling people all week Nick you're not gonna like my prediction the score
12:37is ugly like a that is the bottom line I mean we'll get to it by the time we're walking
12:41out of here
12:42but you're not gonna like the prediction I have zero faith legitimately zero faith the Browns walk out of
12:47this game with a win same say and it all has to do with the quarterback but but this is
12:52true like
12:53and this is what why like you know it's hard for me to get that mad and it's hard for
12:58me to scream
12:58and and pound my fist and care that much because we've all said that this is exactly how it was
13:05gonna go like I feel like I saw this in a crystal ball two months ago when I said that
13:10playing Deshaun
13:11Watson made no sense this is exactly how I saw it unfolding so it's like maybe the Browns
13:17themselves are surprised and we're reading from rap sheet you know that people in the building
13:22walked out a week one frustrated frustrated that's what you guys saw on film throughout the entire
13:29camp and OTAs where's the room to be frustrated like annoyed sure because yeah this is all we have
13:35and the guy isn't really that good but frustrated like we kind of knew this is how it was gonna
13:40go
13:40you set this up you built it brick by brick you hired Todd you let Deshaun be a part of
13:45the
13:45quarterback competition you know watch the way he played in training camp and he won the job like
13:49you should be prepared for this moment and it doesn't sound like they were and the thing that
13:54gets under my skin is that you were told day after day week after week you're not inside the
13:59building right you don't understand what's actually happening and time and time again with this
14:03organization as we get reports like this kind of feels like everybody watching from the sidelines
14:08is like wait no I actually do understand it one can throw the football one cannot don't paint me as
14:13an
14:13idiot right yeah it happens every time you can feel kind of if you're looking for a glass half full
14:19take this morning uh again and we're hours away from a game so it should be glass half full we
14:25should
14:25be positive you can at least feel smarter as a football fan today yeah I mean we watched the
14:30show on through training camp in a preseason and all we had was that guy's not playing that hot
14:36uh Chador kind of looks like he's throwing the ball better kind of feels that way
