00:00Good morning. If you're not a fan of the heat, well, there's good news about this weekend.
00:05If you're after some rain, the news is less favourable.
00:09There'll be a little bit of light rain and drizzle here and there.
00:11We've got northerly breezes bringing the cooler feel and also bringing quite a bit of cloud at times over northern
00:17Scotland.
00:18We'll see more cloud through the day today developing over northern England and then pushing into parts of the Midlands
00:23and Wales,
00:24which may produce one or two showers here and there, perhaps even the odd heavy one.
00:28But they're going to be very hit and miss with the emphasis definitely on the miss.
00:33Most places are just going to stay dry and have lengthy spells of sunshine.
00:37So a fine Saturday for the middle of summer and temperatures actually around maybe a touch above average.
00:44It'll feel warm for sure in that sunshine, but we're a long way from the excess heat that we have
00:51seen a few times through this summer.
00:53Temperatures on the east coast in the high teens around other coasts with that northerly breeze coming in.
00:58Again, 18, 19, but inland across the Midlands, more central parts of southern England up into the mid-20s and
01:04parts of southern Scotland, 22, 23 degrees likely here.
01:08So pleasantly warm, I think many people would describe it as.
01:12Still the chance of one or two heavy showers across parts of Wales and southern England.
01:16But again, most places won't see them, so most gardens will remain dry.
01:21And actually, it'll turn quite chilly overnight, turning quite fresh through the evening time if you're heading out.
01:26And then by Sunday morning, well, temperatures, certainly in rural spots, will be well down into single figures.
01:32We may not be far off freezing through parts of Scotland.
01:35So a pretty fresh start to Sunday.
01:38Towns and cities in the south still at 15 or 16 degrees.
01:41But again, quite fresh through parts of the Midlands and northern England, as I said, particularly so in the countryside.
01:47That northerly wind is responsible.
01:49It'll still draw down some cloud at times into eastern parts of England and across northern Scotland.
01:55A weak weather front may provide some thicker cloud and a little bit of drizzly rain in here.
02:00Again, the chance of one or two showers breaking out if everything comes together across the south, particularly across the
02:05moors in the southwest.
02:07But again, most places won't see them.
02:10The vast majority dry with plenty of strong sunshine.
02:13Even though temperatures won't be as high this weekend, UV levels will still be very high.
02:18So you'll need the sunscreen on.
02:20And temperatures, if anything, on Sunday, perhaps a little bit higher again, more widely into the mid-20s across the
02:25south, 24, 25 degrees.
02:27Again, whether we've got the breeze off the sea, it will be cooler.
02:30Edinburgh, up to 23 Celsius.
02:32So things actually turning a bit warmer here through the weekend.
02:34It's elsewhere further south where temperatures will be a little bit lower.
02:38The high pressure bringing all the fine weather.
02:41Well, that isn't shifting anywhere.
02:43It's kind of anchored out to the northwest.
02:45It's a big area of high pressure.
02:47Not much to shift it.
02:49Weather fronts try and topple around the top of it as we go into next week.
02:53Perhaps producing a little bit of rain here and there as they sink south.
02:57But generally, the high pressure means the dry weather will continue for much of next week.
