00:00There are signs of a bit of a change in our weather patterns as we go through the weekend,
00:04but certainly for the next couple of days, a lot of dry weather.
00:07Many places seeing sunny spells, and particularly across the south, staying fairly warm.
00:12Here's the view from space, big kind of gap out in the Atlantic.
00:15There is cloud toppling around this area of high pressure,
00:19and we do have some cloudier zones across the UK at the moment.
00:22This high has gradually been sinking its way southwards,
00:25and there is at least one weather front trying to push in.
00:28A fairly weak affair, but more on their way behind that one, as we'll see later.
00:33So, as I say, today there is some patchy cloud out there.
00:36Some places staying fairly drab through Thursday morning, but brightening up during this afternoon.
00:41The cloud tending to break up.
00:43Some areas keeping quite a bit of that cloud, and thick enough for the odd light shower over eastern England,
00:48and certainly western Scotland, there'll be some showery rain coming in here,
00:51and so the breeze also coming in here from the west or the southwest.
00:55Elsewhere, the wind's pretty light. We'll see some sea breezes developing,
00:58so the coast's always a little bit cooler.
01:01But inland, the peak of the temperature's probably in the zone southeast Wales to southwest England,
01:0727, 28 possible here.
01:09Further north temperatures into the low 20s at best,
01:13and as I said, coast will be a little cooler where we see some sea breezes developing.
01:17As we go through the evening and overnight, not a great deal of change.
01:21Still one or two light showers over northern England, perhaps.
01:24Certainly we'll see some more showery rain coming into the highlands of Scotland,
01:27and a fairly brisk breeze continuing.
01:29Just the possibility of some of that showery rain trickling a little further south
01:32into southwest Scotland at times.
01:35But most places staying dry.
01:37May turn a little misty in a few spots, but generally long, clear spells.
01:42Temperatures will dip down to single figures, perhaps in rural spots,
01:45but most towns and cities will stay in the teens.
01:48So a warmish night and a fine day to come on Friday, by and large.
01:53The main exception will be certainly initially western Scotland,
01:56but also the western north coast of Northern Ireland,
01:58likely to see a little bit of showery rain for a time.
02:01We could even see a few light showers drifting through the central belt,
02:04getting into southwest Scotland,
02:06and perhaps even into the southeast of Scotland, the odd light shower.
02:09Later on, another weather front.
02:11This one's got a bit more about it.
02:13It will bring some more persistent rain into the highlands and the western isles of Scotland.
02:18But that's really on Friday evening.
02:20Most of Friday will again be dry and fine across England and Wales.
02:24Yes, some patchy clouds, but generally quite a lot of sunshine to come all set.
02:29Temperatures responding to that sunshine.
02:31Probably not quite as warm for southeast England, but still mid-20s here.
02:36The highest temperatures on Friday likely in and around the southeast, 28, perhaps a 29,
02:42possibly even back up to 30 degrees Celsius.
02:45Quite warm in the east coast of northern England and eastern Scotland,
02:48but cooler in western Scotland with that breeze and the thicker cloud, which will thicken further.
02:53There's that next weather front.
02:55As I said, this one does have a bit more about it.
02:56It will produce some more persistent rain through Friday evening over Scotland and then into Northern Ireland.
03:03And that will be sinking its way south as we go into the weekend.
03:06So the high pressure continues to fade away.
03:09Low pressure now really in control.
03:11Still a lot of dry, sunny weather across the south on Saturday.
03:15Not really until Saturday night when that weather front slips its way across England and Wales.
03:20Not going to bring huge amounts of rain and we're not likely to see a return to particularly wet conditions
03:25into the early part of next week.
03:27But that weather front will certainly bring a cooler feel as it's a cold front
03:30and will at least bring some rain through Saturday night and Sunday across the south.
