00:00It's been hot, sunny and very dry for quite a while now and really this week's not going to bring
00:06much relief to that.
00:07We have high pressure sitting just to the north of us and a lot of hot air across us as
00:12well.
00:12But the position of the high pressure is important because it is bringing a bit of a east-northeasterly flow
00:18and it's on that flow that we have seen some low cloud pushing in overnight.
00:22And that's now largely cleared away, but across some North Sea coastal parts it's going to be quite stubborn.
00:27So here that cloud is going to linger through much of the day and there will be that breeze coming
00:33in from the North Sea.
00:34So that will all make it feel a fair bit fresher here.
00:37Elsewhere with the sunshine that will be very widespread through this afternoon, it is going to feel pretty hot again.
00:44Temperatures in the south likely to peak in a few places, just about getting above 30 Celsius.
00:49So that will make it the 10th day in a row where somewhere in the UK has exceeded 30 Celsius.
00:55Further north and east, yes, temperatures a little bit lower than this.
00:58But if we look at our temperatures for today compared to average, and well, you can see across western areas,
01:03particularly the southwest, also western Scotland here, temperatures are several degrees above average,
01:08as you would expect.
01:09It's so hot, it's so sunny at the moment.
01:11But across some North Sea coastal parts in particular, because of that cloud and that breeze coming in,
01:16well, temperatures here actually a few degrees below average.
01:20Into the evening and watch out for a few showers, which could possibly develop across parts of the southwest.
01:26Otherwise, it's staying dry.
01:27And then similar to recent nights, we will see low cloud from the east spreading a bit further west and
01:33southwestwards,
01:33but southern and western areas sticking with the clear skies.
01:36It is going to be another warm night.
01:38Temperatures mostly, especially in towns and cities, holding up in the mid to high teens Celsius.
01:43Some parts of Scotland could drop into single digits, however, many of you would be really appreciative if you got
01:50those kind of temperatures.
01:52Into tomorrow, and yes, it could be a bit grey, a bit cloudy to start off with, but similar to
01:57today, really,
01:57we're going to see a lot of that cloud burning away, retreating just to those immediate North Sea coastal areas,
02:03eastern parts of Scotland, northeast England and also the Northern Isles.
02:07Otherwise, lots of sunshine once again and temperatures peaking in the low 30 Celsius again towards the south and further
02:16north and east.
02:16Yes, a few degrees lower than this, still fresher towards those North Sea coastal parts, but most places having a
02:21very warm or hot day.
02:23Again, there's the potential for a few showers to develop in the southwest through Wednesday evening,
02:28but most places staying dry, then overnight Wednesday into Thursday, we will again see that low cloud drifting in from
02:34the east,
02:35spreading across some more central areas as well.
02:38There's more sunny, hot weather to come this week, though temperatures are set to drop,
02:43becoming a bit more comfortable by the weekend.
02:45However, to find out more about that, well, follow us on YouTube.
02:49Aidan will have the deep dive later, talking about just how exceptional this hot spell has been.
02:53Bye-bye.
