00:00Ron, let's go out front.
00:03And good evening, I'm Erin Burnett.
00:05And out front tonight, we begin with the breaking news.
00:08A rising star in the Democratic Party rocked by serious sexual assault allegations of rape.
00:14Maine's Democratic Senate candidate Graham Plattner says he's now taking time to, quote,
00:18reflect on his path politically after he was accused of raping a woman,
00:23an accusation that goes back to an incident five years ago.
00:26Jenny Rassicott telling our Jake Tapper that Plattner assaulted her during an encounter at her home.
00:31She says the two had begun seeing each other on and off after meeting on a dating app in 2019.
00:36And then one night he showed up drunk at her home.
00:42Well, this interview just came out, right?
00:44Jake just did this exclusive interview.
00:46Plattner now has come out and denied the allegation.
00:48He's responded with this video on social media.
00:53Plattner is running neck and neck against Collins.
00:55And it's a must-win Senate race for Democrats.
00:58And Democrats have, from right now, seven days to replace Plattner on the ticket if he withdraws.
01:03That's state law in Maine.
01:04And the news, of course, comes after the New York Times had published allegations of unsettling behavior with other girlfriends
01:09that did not include rape in their article.
01:11One of them, though, did accuse Plattner of knowingly getting that Nazi-linked tattoo.
01:16Plattner has come out and denied all the allegations.
01:18But this one is having immediate impact.
01:21At this hour, Congressman Ro Khanna is rescinding his support for Plattner.
01:24And the main Democratic Party tonight is calling on Plattner to withdraw.
01:29Lauren Fox is out front.
01:30She's live on Capitol Hill.
01:31And, Lauren, as you're talking to your sources, what are they telling you right now?
01:35All right, Lauren, thank you very much.
01:37And everyone's here with me now.
01:39Max, just with the news that Lauren's breaking, okay?
01:41And you having served in Congress.
01:43When the DSCC, the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, they come out, signed by Chuck Schumer,
01:48honorary leader, and Kirsten Gillibrand, who had stood behind Plattner up until now,
01:53and they say, we're not going to put a dollar into this race if he doesn't get out.
01:57What's the actual practical implication of losing that money?
02:00It's about a 50 million.
02:02Until now, after the New York Times, and my understanding is this woman would have been
02:05in the New York Times piece, had not, these details were not in there.
02:10She had not shared them with them in full.
02:12But, look, you famously sued Roger Ailes for harassment.
02:17You must.
02:18Just looking at how the trajectory of this, right?
02:20People came forward, people spoke, but it's only now.
02:23This appears to be the straw.
02:24Before you can get another candidate, so now people are saying he should withdraw.
02:27What about the women who came out in the New York Times in 10 years than when I came forward?
02:31But also, it's a pattern for the Senate.
02:33I understand it's going to be close.
02:35But we need to believe Republicans are reporting on Plattner.
02:37In fact, some of the very first explosive reporting on his past, Nazi tattoo, you had all of that.
02:43So, where do you think this is actually going here, days before the deadline?
02:48Well, I don't think it's old.
02:51Before, people didn't want to run candidates in that governor's race.
02:54Any of them could jump in.
02:56And if you look in the environment, if you look to people, there was a reason, instead, that people liked
02:59him.
03:00And in part, it was because he was flawed and imperfect and PTSD and all of the things that he
03:04had.
03:05But he, he, what he's saying tonight to supporters.
03:07Again, this was the video statement.
03:09It's not as if he's done an interview or anything, but I'll play a little bit more of it.
03:13I mean, instead, hundreds of thousands of grassroots donors, right?
03:16He had done something that now sort of, you know, speaks to a lot of other Democratic victories that have
03:21happened in primaries, right?
03:23Anti-establishment.
03:24Yes, I embrace my flaws.
03:25All of those things.
03:26So, what happens if he goes away to all of those people?
03:30And to it, I don't expect Graham Plattner to last through the week.
03:33And I think that that's actually a critical piece of this, is that not just that, on through some levels
03:38of betting, who is actually, I think, doing fine now because he had thought about a vision of governance.
03:42When you kind of pick folks out of nowhere, you really.
03:44Gretchen, who will say that the timing here is, okay, you know, people tried in the New York Times.
03:50It didn't work.
03:51And now, days before the deadline, shocker, here comes a major accusation, right?
03:55There's already some saying that.
03:57And, in fact, Jake asked Jenny about that, right?
04:00The people are going to say this is politically motivated.
04:02What do you say?
04:03I want to play her response.
04:05I think that it's an interesting retort to the other woman in the New York Times to do with her
04:09telling her story.
04:10Much more difficult in this situation where automatically you're hearing the familiar now blame it on AIPAC.
04:16Yeah, and look, you see these, one Senk, who's the leader of Young Turks, for instance, immediately came out and
04:24said that this is an AIPAC-funded story.
04:27I think there's been, you know, I think in fair, you know, for the left and folks who have supported
04:31Plattner, I've seen Hassan Piker, I've seen a fair to kind of ask the question about, like, what lessons Democrats
04:38can take.
04:38But motivated by the Times story and the political attacks that came on, became also a part of this mix,
04:44too.
04:45But, you know, one thing about Plattner, maybe even.
04:46You came on, you were the first to report on the Nazi-linked tattoo that Plattner has.
04:51And when you came on, we were sort of like, who is this person?
04:54Oh, he's running in, I mean, he was a nuke at you.
04:56So you found this out very early.
04:57You've also previously spoken to another former girlfriend.
05:01To Lindsay, who they're talking about, yeah.
05:02Yeah, so, the conservative woman, right, that the New York Times had spoken to after you did.
05:08So, what did you see in the credibility of all this?
05:11Well, I feel his supporters, they feel like, almost like they've been lied to with some of this stuff, right?
05:16Yeah.
05:16But with the tattoo, you know, he said he learned about it in October 2015.
05:20And in those text messages, she said, Graham has a Nazi tattoo.
05:25And then she named certain questions about his credibility.
05:28Yeah, very, very much so.
05:29Gretchen, today is 10 years.
05:3110 years since you filed your law.
05:34It's taken a serious hit in recent years, though, after that, right?
05:37So there's been an up and a down and a backlash.
05:40Where do you think the movement stands now?
05:43Whether you're even comfortable using the words Me Too or not now, but in people believing women, where does that
05:50stand now?
05:51Well, I'm very confident.
05:52You know, more recently that he has to pay her the money.
05:54You have Pete Hegseth, who was confirmed as the defense secretary.
05:57So I could go on and on.
05:58And thanks very much to all of you.
06:00And next, Trump made hundreds of millions of dollars from his crypto coin.
06:04He did.
06:05But a lot of his supporters who jumped in believing him are struggling.
06:09They invested in those same coins and lost.
06:11A new report coming up.
06:13And the mystery deepening over Iran's new supreme leader.
06:16He has not been seen in public yet, even as the entire country seemed to be out in the streets
06:19mourning his dead father, the coffin today.
06:22Where is the Ayatollah?
06:24Our Fred Pleikin is there in Tehran.
06:26And the U.S. men's soccer team about to face off against Belgium.
06:29It's a crucial match after Trump interfered and got FIFA to reverse its decision to suspend a top U.S.
06:36player.
06:36World Cup superfan and former ambassador Sean Patrick Maloney is here.
06:40And he is fired up.
06:41Oh, he's even got soccer sneakers on.
06:44All right.
06:45Panel's clear.
06:46Mike, you can break two and three.
06:49Ernie's a new B1.
06:50Stand by your break, master.
06:51In three, two, one.
06:54A fact for your break, please, master.
06:57Breaking news.
06:58The U.S. men's soccer team is about to take the field for a match like no other in World
07:02Cup history
07:03because of President Trump's unprecedented move to interfere in a ref's call, a move that shocked the world.
07:09Trump called the head of FIFA, a private phone call, about the suspension of one of the U.S. team's
07:13best players.
07:14After the call, Faleran Balogun's suspension was reversed.
07:18In fact, this is the first time since 1962 that FIFA overturned an in-tournament World Cup game suspension.
07:25And tonight, headlines like this around the world.
07:27I mean, can we just take a pause to be like, he actually didn't even know what a red card
07:31was, right?
07:31So somebody told him about it.
07:33And, oh, I guess I'll just call my buddy, you know, who gave me the peace prize.
07:37Then Trump went on and compared the situation to his situation in the 2020 election.
07:46Koi Weyer is out front, outside the game, which begins in just about a half an hour here.
07:51And obviously going to be a big one, the world watching.
07:54Koi, what do you learn?
07:55It's really incredible.
07:56And just to look at that full stadium, as I said, we're just moments away.
08:00Koi's going to be there.
08:00Thank you, Koi.
08:01And all of this raising major questions about the relationship between President Trump and FIFA President Infantino, right?
08:07I referenced it.
08:08Well, maybe you forgot the moments.
08:10Tom Foreman is out front.
08:13All right, Tom, thank you very much.
08:14And out front now, former Congressman, Ambassador, and soccer fan, Sean Patrick Maloney.
08:18Last soundbite there in that interview with the FIFA president.
08:20We are together all of the time.
08:22And he gives him this gold fake award.
08:25And Trump loves it.
08:27And you can't make this up.
08:31OK, well, first, I've got to get out of here.
08:33The question I want to ask about that.
08:35The question is, soccer is the world's sport.
08:38It's not America's sport.
08:39People are excited about this game.
08:40That's wonderful, right?
08:41America's football and baseball.
08:42And soccer's always struggled here, maybe because we call it soccer.
08:46But around the world, right, this is something that won't be forgotten.
08:49What are the implications of Trump's birthright citizenship best?
08:52There are so many things about it.
08:54That's right.
08:54This young kid, Balagan, is a major view.
08:56He wouldn't be allowed that citizenship.
08:58So, yes, crazy.
08:59You'll be going to watch.
08:59I've got to let you go.
09:00I'm out.
09:01Go, because you only want to listen to the radio.
09:02You want to watch it.
09:03All right.
09:03Thanks so much.
09:04And next, in the red, Trump supporters lost massive amounts of money investing in Trump's
09:09crypto coins.
09:10So what are they saying about it?
09:12Even, of course, as he made, what, more than half a billion dollars?
09:15New reporting next, plus this.
09:19Breaking news.
09:20Minutes away from the U.S. men's soccer team taking the field against Belgium in the World
09:24Cup tournament.
09:24And star striker Flair and Balogan is in the lineup.
09:28So he's there after FIFA's president, Gianni Infantino, overturned a red card over this
09:34play in the previous round.
09:36Now, the decision came not by any standard protocol in any way, shape, or form.
09:41No.
09:41It came because President Trump called Infantino and asked him to review the call.
09:45And now CNN is learning new details about what else was going on behind the scenes there.
09:49Kristen Holmes is out front in Turkey.
09:52It's really incredible, though, as you're pointing out, between Andrew Giuliani and
09:57Howard Lutnik and everyone getting involved.
10:00It's incredible.
10:01Full court press on such a thing.
10:03Kristen, thank you very much.
10:05Kristen, as I said, joining us tonight from Ankara in Turkey, the capital there, where the
10:08president will be heading for that NATO summit.
10:11Thanks so much to you, Kristen.
10:12And of course, thanks so much to all of you for joining us.
10:15We'll see you tomorrow, AC 360 with Anderson Cooper begins right now.
