00:00Let's go out front.
00:04And good evening, I'm Erin Burnett and welcome to a special edition of Out Front.
00:07We begin with the breaking news this hour and that is President Trump is set to address
00:11his largest audience of the year.
00:13It is State of the Union night and the stakes for Trump could not be higher because it comes
00:18as he has amassed the biggest military buildup in the Middle East since the Iraq war with
00:23threats to attack Iran imminently.
00:25And it also comes as Trump was handed the biggest defeat of his presidency by the Supreme
00:29Court over his executive power on tariffs, which of course has been a centerpiece of
00:33his second term.
00:34And then there is the political context, the growing cracks within MAGA and a country, when
00:40you look at independence, that is incredibly frustrated with Trump's priorities.
00:43These stunning numbers and that means that there is a lot riding on how Trump chooses to
00:48handle tonight.
00:49We have an incredible team of reporters standing by.
00:51Kristen may well be Trump's biggest audience for the year.
00:53As I said, I mean, last year, more than 36 million people watched his address to the
00:57joint session of Congress on television, nearly 3 million more on the White House YouTube
01:02account.
01:02So it matters.
01:04And the tone inside that room is going to be important as well.
01:07Inside the chamber will be high profile guests.
01:10That includes Jeffrey Epstein survivors and the Supreme Court justices who have just handed
01:14Trump his stinging defeat.
01:16So obviously, just watching that play as Trump walks down that aisle to the podium is going
01:22to be crucial.
01:23And Kristen Holmes is live outside the White House.
01:25So, Kristen, Trump is about to face a room with the Supreme Court justices in it, with Epstein
01:32survivors in it.
01:33I mean, this is an audience unlike any other he's experienced.
01:38Yeah, that's interesting when you bring up the don't tread on me.
01:40Of course, I see it on so many license plates, states like Virginia.
01:44Mayor Frey, thank you very much.
01:45I appreciate your time.
01:46We all do.
01:48And here with me now in New York, Jamal Simmons, S.E.
01:51Cup.
01:51Ambassador Senderflake, let me just start with you.
01:53When you hear what Mayor Frey said, it's interesting, you know, he's going to be speaking
01:58at this rebuttal, burst bubbles, right?
02:00That he wants to make it about you can be a patriot and be proud of being an American
02:05if you aren't a Republican, right?
02:08You know, do you think that that message can break through beyond his base?
02:12I think it can.
02:13I think Democrats have the upper hand here.
02:15Presidents coming in here extremely unpopular.
02:19We love our country as much as they do.
02:21That's wise.
02:22Also, because, you know, you think about the Olympics and how there was the response
02:25within the administration that any of the young people there who stood up and said that
02:29they didn't like what was going on with ICE or that they were felt conflicted, that
02:33that was somehow unpatriotic to be that way.
02:37Yeah, they were certainly cast in that light.
02:39Homeland Security are going to work and we're going to focus on the border and the things
02:43that unite.
02:43Be a different person.
02:44But it would make everyone sort of think, oh, maybe he's listening.
02:47Okay, not can.
02:49Let's go with would.
02:49Will, right?
02:50That he could.
02:51He could.
02:51That he is capable of saying S.E.
02:53that would show that he is meeting people where they clearly are.
02:58Well, I don't think so.
02:59A, I don't think he's capable of it.
03:01People were saying we don't feel that way.
03:03Trump is making the same mistake and he's doubling down and saying, you know, referring
03:07to midterms.
03:08Yeah, referring to midterms.
03:09I was talking to Steve Israel, who you because they hear a lot from people who are, you know,
03:12spending money on it up over the holidays by things like the tariffs, Venezuela, Greenland,
03:18the kill to change the fact that this is going to be really bad.
03:21Senator, we keep hearing, you know, when you mentioned Venezuela and you mentioned Greenland
03:26and then we have all of a sudden this, I mean, I think, well, certainly the polls show it.
03:30Most Americans are like, wait, what are we talking about?
03:32What are we talking about?
03:33He's got to go back on what he said before because he said that once you get in and take
03:38that step and, and.
03:40You need to get into a war.
03:41It's a lot harder to get out of a war.
03:42To Iran, I hope there's very serious, there's a very serious action.
03:46But if he can change what he does over the course of the next few months to see whether
03:50or not he can, it happened in 2022 when the Dobbs is, so there is a possibility that it
03:55could happen.
03:56I mean, do you think that's, that it could be as, as.
03:59That's a tough one.
04:00Reptilian.
04:00He said, you know, he'd solve the affordability crisis or he.
04:04Emotional person.
04:04Yes.
04:05Okay.
04:05He's an emotional person.
04:06And when you're in the room, right.
04:08It can feel different than it is on television.
04:10So he's looking in the room at a bunch of Supreme Court justices that are salt on his
04:14wound.
04:14And he's looking at Epstein survivors who are vinegar on his wound.
04:19Okay.
04:20And that's his immediate presence, right?
04:22Now he'll, he'll have his supporters and then there's the blatantly empty seats from
04:26the 10 or 11 Democrats who aren't going to be there.
04:28How does that impact him?
04:29Because we keep hearing, what was Kristen's reporting?
04:31He's going to stay on message.
04:33No, he's not.
04:33Well, that sounds to me to do.
04:34That has nothing to do with what he's really going to do.
04:37He's definitely not attack Supreme Court justices.
04:40He's done that before he is in, he just got back from overseas adventures where he
04:45Trump tonight.
04:46I would expect to see a very angry comment that this is going to be a longer than usual
04:51speech, which is saying something, right?
04:54I mean, his speeches are generally very long.
04:56Yeah.
04:57I've sat through 18, but I would encourage the Democrats who are, you know, look for the
05:02numbers of the number of Democrats who are not going to be there at this point.
05:05But you know, it is dozens at this point from, if you combine the House and Senate who are
05:09boycotting, some of them are going to the event that Mayor Frye is actually going to
05:12be speaking at.
05:13But you know what?
05:14Is that a smart move to just leave that empty seat?
05:18You know, some Democrats are testory.
05:20Now, that leaves out people who aren't from Europe, right?
05:23It leaves out people who aren't Christians.
05:25Because it touches on a bigger point.
05:27I'm just thinking about Gavin Newsom and the way he's chosen to come after the president.
05:30Now, of course, he's under attack for his company.
05:32You know, we're going to go high.
05:34Yep.
05:34Didn't work.
05:35So then you have some people saying, okay, I'm going to, I'm going to, if you punch me,
05:39I'm punching back.
05:39The Gavin Newsom model.
05:41I don't know whether that's going to work.
05:43I don't like it.
05:44I just don't.
05:44No, I don't.
05:45Republicans of conviction like yourself, conservatives or Democrats.
05:48Well, anger and grievance are not like an adult.
05:51Can I just say I miss you?
05:52Like, I miss you.
05:54That kind of ethos do.
05:57They certainly have the upper hand right now.
05:59But this is practical.
06:00This is nonpartisan.
06:02They're all for inflation, lowering the cost of goods.
06:06There's attacking on the Supreme Court's decision about tariffs.
06:09But the truth is, the tariff decision.
06:11People money and they get money.
06:13I mean, right?
06:14Prices come down because there are more goods in the market that bring prices down.
06:17But the tariff thing isn't a switch.
06:19A year ago, six months ago, it's not as if suddenly our farmers in Iowa.
06:23But the president could have used that spring himself.
06:26Back to him.
06:26And that was just a very poor political play.
06:30Are going to be sitting there looking at him, right?
06:31I mean, so that's going to be in the grievance right front and center.
06:34All right.
06:34Thank you all very much.
06:35And next, a new and anguished plea from Savannah Guthrie,
06:38now offering up to a million dollars for information about her mother.
06:42And tonight, we're learning what that plea is resulting in.
06:45Plus, a top Democrat accusing the Justice Department of a cover-up,
06:48claiming that it withheld interviews with an Epstein survivor
06:51who alleged that Trump sexually assaulted her when she was a minor.
06:54And we'll check in with Van Jones and Scott Jennings.
06:56They are in Michigan, as I speak,
06:58and they're going to be watching the speech with voters
07:00for CNN's first-ever Voter Livecast.
07:43So, if you look at the pay,
07:43And that's going to be happening.
07:44The62都 not encrypted, one of the-
07:45He goes to P 굉장히 smart deep.
07:45We're going to be watching the你看 that they were tabbed mirroring now,
07:46because they're showing the same time to pick up the fuckingjuicegn투cia.
07:46You
