00:00Thank you for joining me for your latest update from the Met Office.
00:03There are some changes on the way as we head into the weekend,
00:06but for the time being, the dry spell continues.
00:09Certainly most places dry through Thursday night.
00:12Some showery rain over the Highlands and the Western Isles,
00:14and we will see a little bit of that rain just trickling south,
00:17maybe down towards the Glasgow area,
00:19perhaps along the north coast of Northern Ireland, one or two spots of rain.
00:22But for most places, it's dry, long, clear spells.
00:25We'll turn a bit misty in a few spots, particularly in Wales and southwest England.
00:29The wind's fairly light, allowing the temperatures to dip in rural spots down into single figures,
00:35but most towns and cities will start Friday between about 12 and 17 Celsius.
00:39Most places having a fine day on Friday, dry and bright with sunny spells.
00:44We'll start off with some mist and low cloud. It may take a while to clear.
00:47We've got a great start in Western Scotland.
00:50Some outbreaks of rain here and again along the north coast of Northern Ireland.
00:53Some of that light, showery rain just trickling south into Southern Scotland,
00:57across southern parts of Northern Ireland.
00:59Before tending to fizzle out through the afternoon.
01:02Eastern Scotland should brighten up.
01:04Northern Ireland may well brighten up by the end of the day.
01:06For England and Wales, it's a case of some patchy cloud.
01:09Some decent spells of sunshine and strong sunshine as well.
01:14UV levels will be high or very high and temperatures will be very high.
01:17Again, across the southeast, that's where we'll see the peak of the temperatures on Friday.
01:2128, 29, perhaps even 30 Celsius.
01:23It's pretty warm in eastern areas generally with some sunny spells,
01:26but cooler on the west coast of Scotland with a thicker cloud and that brisk breeze.
01:31It will brighten up for a time.
01:32But then look at this, another zone of wet weather.
01:34And this one's got a bit more about it as it sinks south.
01:36Of course, Scotland and Northern Ireland during Friday evening, bringing again a bit of rain.
01:41And then we see more wet weather coming in on Saturday.
01:44It could be quite a wet start in western Scotland on Saturday morning.
01:47Some heavier bursts of rain moving through Northern Ireland during the day as well.
01:51And eventually some of this rain will turn up perhaps over eastern Scotland into northwest England.
01:56Again, much of the southern half of the UK having a sunny Saturday.
02:01And again, very warm.
02:03But further north, a very different feel.
02:05Much more cloud, much more breeze.
02:06And temperatures are nowhere near as high as they have been.
02:09May not get much above mid-teens on the west coast of Scotland.
02:12Further south again, 27, 28, maybe 29 in and around the London area.
02:17But the cooler and wetter weather by the end of the day spreading into northern England, north and west Wales
02:22too.
02:22And that will continue to track south.
02:24It is a weather front, a cold front sinking south, bringing some useful rain to parts of the south during
02:31Saturday night and Sunday morning.
02:33Not huge amounts.
02:34And this isn't the change to much wetter conditions through next week.
02:38But it will bring behind it a cooler feel.
02:41And a few showers around on Sunday as well.
02:44So a different feel by the time we get to Sunday for sure.
