09 July - National morning forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00Morning, another hot and sunny day for most places today with, as is often the case, one or two exceptions.
00:07It will be cloudier today across Northern Ireland compared to yesterday.
00:10Thicker cloud at times too in the northwest of Scotland where it will also be fairly breezy and that cloud
00:15thickening to provide one or two light showery outbreaks of rain at times.
00:19But for most places it's dry.
00:21Bit of mist and low cloud around first thing this morning.
00:23That should clear inland, but around the coasts in the west we might just see some of that mist and
00:28sea fog lapping onto some of the beaches at times.
00:31There will be a bit of a sea breeze picking up around some of the coasts as well, keeping things
00:35a little cooler.
00:36But inland in the sunshine, the strong sunshine, UV levels will be very high and temperatures also very high.
00:43Getting widely into the 30s in this zone from the Midlands down to South East Wales, across Southern England, in
00:48and around the London area, just to the north, 33, 34, perhaps even 35 Celsius.
00:53Temperatures in the high 20s across Northern England, and it's not quite as hot perhaps for Northern Ireland with a
00:59bit more cloud in here.
01:00And certainly fairly cool in the far northwest with a brisk breeze and that thicker cloud, which if anything thickens
01:06up further overnight.
01:07You can see this line of cloud, that's a weather front, which will feed some more persistent outbreaks of rain
01:12through the early hours into the far northwest of Scotland.
01:16Otherwise it stays dry through the night after a clear balmy summer's evening, turning again a bit misty in places.
01:22The wind's pretty light, a fairly warm night, perhaps even a little warmer than the night just gone.
01:28Temperatures in and around the capital may well stay over 20 degrees Celsius, and many of the towns and cities
01:35up and down the land staying in the mid to high teens.
01:38So quite a warm, quite a humid night leading into another hot day on Friday.
01:42Again, the main exception will be further north.
01:43A bit more rain to come for Friday across the highlands of Scotland.
01:47That weather front not really moving too far.
01:50So it could be quite a wet day for some if you're stuck under that line of rain, perhaps turning
01:54brighter across the Hebrides through the day.
01:57But generally, again, most places dry and sunny.
02:00Early morning mist and fog clearing inland.
02:03Some breezes picking up.
02:05Sea breezes in places.
02:06But generally, just across the south, the breeze will start to strengthen as we go through Friday.
02:11And that means it perhaps won't be quite as hot in the southeast.
02:15Still getting into the 30s.
02:16The heat will be moving perhaps a little further west into South Wales, southwest England.
02:21That's where we're most likely to see the peak on Friday.
02:2434, 35, 36 is just about possible.
02:27Cooler on some of those North Sea coasts with a bit more of a breeze blowing.
02:30Another way to look at that is when we compare the temperature to the mid-month average.
02:35You can see widely over England and Wales, significantly above average.
02:38Cooler in northern Scotland with that weather front draped in here.
02:42But subtle shifts as the heat moves slowly westwards as we go through the weekend.
02:47And eastern areas getting much closer to average.
02:49Perhaps if it turns misty on some coasts, even below average by the time we get to Sunday.
02:54So staying hot, but the heat tending to shift further west through the weekend.
02:58For more on that, you'll want to watch the 10-day trend.
03:01And that is available on our YouTube channel.
