07 March - National evening forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk.
Transcript
00:00Hello.
00:01Some lucky ones saw some sunshine on Saturday, but for many it's been dull, it's been murky
00:06and it's been gloomy.
00:08We've got a slow moving weather pattern really across the UK.
00:11We have this warm front that's bringing in a lot of cloud and outbreaks of rain and then
00:15to the far northwest we also have this cold front that's just flirting with the Outer
00:20Hebrides to give some patchy cloud and rain here.
00:23So as we go through this evening then we hold on to this blanket of cloud lower to give
00:28low cloud, mist and fog across much of England and Wales.
00:32There'll be showery outbreaks of rain pushing up from the south into Wales, into the Midlands
00:37and eventually into northern England.
00:39To the north of that though, across eastern parts of Scotland and towards the south, that's
00:44where we hold on to the clearest skies tonight so temperatures will fall away here.
00:48Out to the west, that's where we have this band of rain with outbreaks of rain across
00:52the Outer Hebrides and perhaps even to western parts of Northern Ireland with a bit more of
00:58a breeze here.
00:59So underneath the cloud and rain, temperatures will generally be holding up but underneath
01:03the clear skies, especially across eastern Scotland, temperatures falling to give a touch
01:08of frost.
01:10So a bright but chilly start across eastern Scotland and southern Scotland.
01:15There may even be some early mist and fog patches but a dull picture again across much
01:20of England and Wales.
01:22We hold on to a lot of low cloud and showery outbreaks of rain.
01:25So a damper picture actually eventually into northern England.
01:29There will be some brighter breaks developing, especially across the far south east as we
01:33head into the afternoon and this slither across southern parts of Scotland.
01:38Otherwise this rain still lingering across the Outer Hebrides and eventually into western
01:43Scotland later.
01:45Temperatures might be a degree up on Saturday but in any sunshine in the south, that's where
01:50temperatures could climb up to 15 or possibly 16 degrees.
01:55As we head into Sunday evening then, that cloud will continue to lower and give a lot
02:01of low cloud, mist and fog across much of England and Wales and pushing its way northwards, eventually
02:07into much of Scotland.
02:09So a really murky night to come as we head into Monday morning and that will allow temperatures
02:14to generally hold up overnight.
02:16So most places will be frost free to start Monday.
02:20But it's a dull, murky grey start to the new working week.
02:25We'll actually see more in the way of cloud this time across eastern parts of Scotland
02:28with the showery outbreaks of rain just continuing to push their way northwards.
02:32There might be some brighter breaks developing across Northern Ireland and eventually there's
02:37a signal for some breaks to develop again across East Anglia and the south east of England.
02:42And here, again, temperatures could climb up to 14, 15, possibly 16 or 17 degrees, so hopefully
02:48feeling pleasant where we do catch any sunshine and most of us temperatures just slightly up
02:53on previous days as well.
02:56That is all from me for now though, but make sure to hit subscribe so you don't miss any updates
03:00and I'll see you very soon.
03:01Bye bye.
