21 September - National weather forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk.
Transcript
00:00Good evening. Well, we've got a colder night to come with some places waking up to a touch
00:05of frost by Monday morning. And having a look at the bigger picture, we've had some cold
00:10Arctic air over us through today. But as we go through the week, we actually have higher
00:15pressure becoming more dominant. So things are going to be settling down. Plenty of sunshine,
00:20but still holding on to some chilly nights as well. But back to the rest of this evening
00:26then. And many places holding on to lengthy clear skies as we go through the night. Many
00:31showers fading away, just confined more so across Windward coasts and especially more so
00:36across Orkney and Shetland. But otherwise, lengthy clear skies, lighter winds as well. That will help
00:42temperatures generally fall away. And we'll see some mist and fog patches developing too. But
00:47temperatures generally holding up across the far southeast where we hold on to a bit more of a
00:52breeze here. So as we start Monday morning then, a frosty start for some of us. Perhaps
00:57there's some mist and fog patches too. But otherwise, plenty of blue sky out there. A bit more cloud
01:03across Scotland, especially across western areas. And then holding on still to some blustery showers
01:09in that northwesterly wind across Orkney and Shetland. Otherwise, some cloud will build into the
01:14afternoon, especially across East Anglia. May even see just a few showers clipping the far southeast.
01:19But otherwise, temperatures are still a little bit below average for the time of year, ranging from
01:2513 to up to 17 degrees in the far south. So with the lighter winds here, it should still feel pleasant
01:32enough. Now, as we go through Monday evening then, we hold on to clear skies too. So most of the cloud
01:40will start melting away. There'll be a focus for some showers just clipping into parts of Kent and
01:45perhaps even to East Anglia. Still a few showers across Orkney and Shetland, but perhaps a little
01:50bit lighter and fewer compared to recent days. Otherwise, clear skies may allow for some mist and fog
01:56patches. And again, temperatures falling away to give a touch of frost to start Tuesday morning. Perhaps
02:02just not as cold across Scotland with a slight shift in the wind direction. But otherwise, it's another
02:09largely fine and settled start to the day. A chilly start out there. But for most, it's fine and dry.
02:16The cloud will generally start bubbling up as we go through the afternoon. And we've still got a focus
02:21for showers, mainly across the far southeast of England as we go through the afternoon. But otherwise,
02:27sunny spells for many and dry, especially now across Orkney and Shetland, seeing some sunnier spells
02:32through the afternoon. Otherwise, temperatures ranging from 13 to possibly up to 18 degrees
02:38in the best of any sunshine across the south. So we hold on to higher pressure as we go through the
02:45rest of the week as well. But make sure to hit subscribe so you don't miss any detail on that.
02:49And I'll see you very soon. Bye bye.
