00:08they see Eggman's plane flying, and Sonic rushes past them, and they realistically scream from it.

00:16It can keep up with Sonic to keep him on footage instead of him just being a blur that shows
00:21up for a split second.
00:23The president is told that Station Square's entire southern region is being evacuated.
00:27It's smart of him to think to say that.
00:30Then we see that Topaz gave Rouge some jewelry, and she's blushing and acting like a tsuderi while Rouge is
00:35all happy about it.
00:37Are they intentionally trying to have lesbian overtones?
00:40Because this is what I would expect out of Sonic F, where they intentionally have jokes about this.
00:46And here, Topaz is actively giving her jewelry, even though Rouge is a fat girl.
00:52I'm more impressed that they're gutsy enough to have a joke like this in an official cartoon.
00:57It's more like a joke like this because they're both girls.
01:01I know that's just a friend thing, but I couldn't help but think if Sonic F's endless jokes about this.
01:07They certainly have a unique dynamic.
01:10Sonic then shows up to Eggman being smug, and the robot tries to offer the emerald to Sonic, which is
01:16all the more proof that he's a terrible programmer.
01:19Then Lucky's knocked away, and the gun beetles show up and tell Sonic to stand aside because they're launching an
01:24attack against Eggman.
01:25They plan to open fire, even though Chris is trapped inside Eggman's plane.
01:30I guess they don't know that.
01:31If Chris wasn't in there, I'd fully support these guys for doing the smart thing that any realistic military would
01:36do.
01:37Of course they'd want to fight Eggman. That's proactive of them.
01:41The plane is completely black, but then restores itself right away thanks to a golden force field that's called the
01:46Egg Shield.
01:47That was surprisingly genre-savvy of ex-Eggman.
01:51Why can't he always be like this, instead of just trying to be funny and failing?
01:56Eggman tells his robot sidekicks to never mention that traitor again.
01:59But what traitor?
02:00They didn't mention a traitor. They just said if they were lucky they'd put the shield up, and the next
02:05time they may not be so lucky.
02:06Always talking about lucky!
02:08That was a bad joke.
02:10He should know they weren't trying to mention him.
02:14Eggman fires a bunch of missiles all over the place, as Sonic wastes time telling him that somebody might get
02:18hurt.
02:19I love that he took things seriously, telling him to cool it.
02:23Eggman sends more missiles, and a sidekick lampshade said he might blow up the whole planet, weren't it, while being
02:29concerned.
02:30It turns out the enemy aircraft doesn't have a single scratch, and Eggman wonders if lucky was giving good luck
02:36to the enemy.
02:37Why would he design a robot to do that? Good luck would be defined as good luck for him!
02:42The robot sidekick says that Sonic's a hedgehog, and not a bull, being little-minded about Eggman's expression.
02:49I love that he has that personality to him, but it's a problem that these two robots have the exact
02:54same personality.
02:55There's a reason I still haven't really memorized which one's Dekka and which one's Boko.
03:01And Eggman just says he'll try to forget he said that.
03:05Some gun beetles go after Lucky, and somehow Eggman didn't know his own robot could fly so high.
03:11Chris yells at the bad guys, and I immediately wonder why they hadn't put duct tape on him a long
03:16time ago.
03:16Because that's illogical.
03:19Sonic jumps stupidly high onto the airship and jumps again.
03:22This is ex-Sonic, after all.
03:25He goes after Lucky and catches it, and he calls himself his friend, being surprisingly sweet to him while falling
03:31down with him, and Lucky flies with him.
03:33Is he gonna get destroyed?
03:35Sonic's nicer to him than he is to his friend!
03:37What is it with Eggman and programming robots to betray him in the show?
03:42Even the games Eggman barely had robots be like that.
03:46Eggman transforms his plane by merging a bunch of stuff into one giant mecha,
03:50which is somehow hovering without even Jephu to try to justify it.
03:55It even puts his foot on the ocean without sinking right away.
03:58Sonic flies all over the place and shows him patience,
04:01and Eggman has the six Chaos Emeralds' energy get transferred into the Egg's Terminator.
04:06Wait, does this mean Sonic will go super again?
04:09Because Eggman clearly didn't learn his lesson from last time.
04:13Chris feels terrible because he blames himself for the situation,
04:17even though it was Knuckles' idea to give Eggman the Emerald.
04:20Although, if Chris had just told everyone about his plan, he would have prevented this.
04:25Sonic gets handed to a wall,
04:26and Tails says that the plane can't do much without an Emerald.
04:30Amy says she'll have to fight the robot,
04:32but since she's not allowed to be useful,
04:34which is why they were completely useless when they were spending a whole episode trying to catch Sonic,
04:39and in an episode called How to Catch the Hedgehog,
04:42it never happened.
04:44Since she's not allowed to be useful,
04:46she probably won't fight the robot.
04:48The mecha wipes out the beetles,
04:51and Sonic is impressively injured as he holds his shoulder and tries to act cocky,
04:55telling Eggman that he wants to save Chris.
04:57Eggman's intimidated,
04:59and the mecha wastes power on Eggman against his will somehow,
05:02and glows red hot,
05:03and grabs Sonic.
05:05At least this episode is trying to be epic and tense for once,
05:08to be an action series.
05:10This is how every episode needs to be and isn't.
05:14Eggman's genre savvy,
05:15as he tells the mecha to drop Sonic already,
05:18although you'd think he'd know that Sonic and Handel will fall from any height.
05:22Chris screams because he's scared of Sonic dying,
05:25and as I predicted a lot earlier,
05:28he breaks out of the thing trapping him somehow,
05:30and steals the Emeralds.
05:31I guess because the Emeralds are right next to him,
05:35and so their magic is going into him.
05:37He doesn't go super, though.
05:39I think that would be embarrassing for the show.
05:41He surprisingly gets me to feel sorry for him,
05:43as he talks while all bruised up,
05:46though I'm not really sure why he's bruised.
05:48And Eggman's naturally scared because everything's going wrong.
05:52Knuckles asks Eggman what he did with Chris,
05:54and it turns out Rouge saved Chris.
05:57Somehow, Chris gets dropped by Rouge,
06:00because she's incompetent in the show.
06:02She amusingly only cares about how he made her drop the Emeralds.
06:06I love this Rouge.
06:08And I get really frustrated because for some goddamn reason,
06:11they never let Rouge keep the Emeralds.
06:14That was so arbitrary.
06:17She gets grabbed by the hand of the robot,
06:19and then it loses its grip for some reason.
06:22Eggman says that the seven Emeralds are all minkling together
06:24at the bottom of the sea right now,
06:26and then we see that Sonic went super.
06:29So, he got the Emeralds before he could drown?
06:31How long was he under the water?
06:34At least this time,
06:35it's justified that he destroys all the machines effortlessly
06:37because he's super.
06:39A huge spear of Chaos Control shows up,
06:43and Tails lampshades that there's a chance
06:44Chuck would be sent back to Mobius with them.
06:47And I love that he says he doesn't mind
06:49because it'll be his pleasure.
06:50It reminds me of how Sonic said
06:52that if Uncle Chuck got a hold of his spaceship,
06:55he'd never hear from him again
06:56because he'd be so interested in exploring other planets.
07:00That's a real scientist.
07:02But I doubt they actually would get to show us Mobius
07:05because that would mean Sega of Japan showing us Mobius.
07:10And the show would never have the guts
07:11to actually show us that place.
07:14I'm so confused.
07:16Are they all in Mobius?
07:17Like, was actually foreshadowed from the start of the show?
07:20Chris begs Sonic to take him with him to Mobius,
07:23and he hugs Sonic and begs him not to go away,
07:25saying that he's the best friend he ever had,
07:27and he doesn't want him to go away.
07:28I actually felt bad for him.
07:30But again, does he not care about his human friends?
07:32Why is Sonic the best friend he ever had
07:35when he barely ever shows up and is an antisocial?
07:38He doesn't exactly try to spend lots of time with his friends.
07:41If anything, he's the worst friend he ever had.
07:44That's a creator's pet moment for Sonic.
07:47At some point, I wondered if this Chris scene
07:49was all just a dream of Chris's
07:50because it feels unreal.
07:52Are all of Sonic's friends and Chuck back on Mobius?
07:56Why aren't we seeing that?
07:58I'm still waiting for the show's lame excuse
08:00to get them all sent back to Earth.
08:03After all, the only reason this anime exists
08:05is because it can have an adaptation of the adventure games
08:08more close to the source material than Sonic Underground,
08:11so they're forced to stay on Earth from Metalogic.
08:15Knuckles sees Angel Island for no reason
08:17because the writing got really lazy
08:19and gave up on making him earn finding it again.
08:23It'd be okay if Sonic said to us,
08:26I sent Angel Island to Knuckles to be nice.
08:29Why is it floating so close to the ground
08:32just to justify Knuckles finding it?
08:34Did Sonic do that?
08:36And Sonic walks up to him.
08:38If he was going to bring Chris with him,
08:39why didn't you just tell him that to begin with
08:42instead of talking as if he was going to leave him
08:44and disappearing and making him upset?
08:47If he's humoring Chris,
08:48he should just tell him so right away.
08:50That's common sense.
08:51Either he went to Mobius,
08:52or because of stupid Metalogic,
08:55Sonic decided to just keep himself
08:56and all his friends on Earth
08:57because he'll go to any lengths to humor Chris,
09:00which gets really ridiculous in the comic.
09:03If he was going to any lengths to humor Tails,
09:05that would have been sweet.
09:07Well, at least him wanting to humor Chris
09:09is an explanation for them staying on Earth.
09:11It's kind of heartwarming.
09:13But in retrospect,
09:14Knuckles wasn't so stupid
09:15when he believed Eggman about Sonic
09:17wanting to keep his friends on Earth
09:19because he was kind of right.
09:22Sonic intentionally kept his friends and him
09:24from going back home.
09:26That's just what Eggman warned Knuckles about.
09:29And yet we'll never have Knuckles say that he was right.
09:33So this was a pretty great episode.
09:36Eggman used a mecha powered by the seven Chaos Emeralds
09:39to easily mop the floor with Sonic.
09:41And I was impressed that the show had the guts
09:43to have him visibly injured by the end.
09:45He was hobbling over to Eggman
09:46holding his shoulder and covered in bruises.
09:48It was also gutsy of the show
09:50to have that joke
09:51where Topaz got Ruch some jewelry
09:53because they're such good friends.
09:55And we just have to assume it makes sense
09:57that they became close friends
09:59because they worked together on missions so much.
10:01off screen.
10:03I was surprised that we saw
10:04so little of them being together.
10:06They went from bitter enemies to friends
10:08the second time we saw them together.
10:10And it was also impressively gutsy
10:12that the show had Chris get visibly hurt
10:14and dazed when he breaks out the thing
10:16he's sealed in himself
10:17because he's so scared for Sonic.
10:19Which reminded me of Sally right away.
10:21I figure it makes sense
10:23because he's near the Chaos Emeralds.
10:25So he's using the power of the Emeralds
10:26from a distance.
10:27After all, if he couldn't use the power of the Emeralds
10:29from a distance, then you'd have to just
10:31lie on top of all of them
10:33on the ground
10:34if you ever wanted to go super with them.
10:36I thought it was so obvious
10:38that he was using the Emeralds
10:39that I was half expecting him to go super.
10:41But that would have been too silly
10:43for a franchise about a talking
10:44cartoon blue hedgehog, apparently.
10:47Even though Eggman went super
10:48a bunch of times in Fleaway.
10:50But he's the main villain of the series.
10:53The show did an impressively good job
10:55getting me to sympathize with Chris
10:56when he begs Sonic not to leave him.
10:59There's always the subtext
11:00that he's clingy
11:01because his parents barely
11:02spend any time with him, though.
11:04And that has to be the real reason
11:05he's so clingy of these guys
11:06because he has plenty of human friends already
11:08who won't leave him for Mobius.
11:10He's got more friends than I have!
11:13What's he so lonely for?
11:15Well, that's his parents' fault.
11:17But he doesn't say that
11:18when he should.
11:20And that'd be interesting
11:21calling him out.
11:23That has to be it
11:24because why else would he think
11:26of Sonic as the best friend
11:27he ever had
11:28when Sonic barely spends
11:29any time with his friends?
11:31He constantly leaves them
11:32with no explanation
11:33to go run around on his own
11:34and barely shows
11:35any communication skills with them.
11:38It's an obvious
11:38creator's pep moment for Sonic
11:40because, oh,
11:41of course Sonic's his best friend!
11:43Because Sonic's
11:44the main character of the series!
11:46And he's the one
11:47you're supposed to think
11:48is super cool!
11:49Even though you think
11:50his best friend would be
11:51literally anyone else but him.
11:53Like Danny,
11:54who actually spent
11:54his whole childhood with them.
11:56Or Amy.
11:57Or Cream.
11:58But I guess the writer
11:59never even considered that
12:01because they're not
12:03Sonic.
