00:00Beginning in the northeast here, you know, our low is, it was 87 this morning in Newark, New Jersey.
00:07It was 87. I don't think we're going to break the record because the official low for the day for
00:13July 3rd
00:13is probably going to be under 87 because of these storms coming on in.
00:18The all-time record warmest low for any calendar day in Newark was 86.
00:24If not for these storms, today would be a record there.
00:27I don't think we're going to stay above 87, though. That's my guess.
00:30Based on the storm trend, and I think that's going to give us some rapid cooling probably into the lower
00:3480s tonight
00:34in Newark, New Jersey before midnight.
00:39Strong storms popping just east of Coldwater, Michigan.
00:42Look at that footage there from Brentwood, Tennessee.
00:45So we've got some big storms up this way and also down to the south as well.
00:49Lots of wind damage into Monroe, Michigan.
00:51They have 48-mile-per-hour wind gusts.
00:52Brand-new report near Detroit, 63-mile-per-hour wind gusts there at Detroit Metro.
00:57That's a nasty wind gust.
00:59And, again, the saddest news, certainly, of the year so far, or of the month, I should say, weather-wise,
01:06saddest news of the month here in the new month of July.
01:10The sad story down in southern parts of Wisconsin as we take it into an area where there's been this
01:16broad stripe of wind damage.
01:18And Lake Geneva, this area, Lake Geneva, just north of the state line, is where, again, there was a capsized
01:24boat
01:24and reports, according to local media, of three missing children associated with that event in the water.
01:30Farther south, you've seen the storms.
01:32Here is that other report.
01:33This is the report I've been mentioning.
01:35Now it is in the National Weather Service system, so we can see it.
01:38This was in Estero, Florida, or at least near there.
01:43One killed, three injured due to lightning.
01:45This was at Fort Myers Beach there.
01:47Better location, Fort Myers Beach, between 2.30 and 3.
01:50And then also another lightning injury in north Miami today due to lightning.
01:55So you've got to take this stuff seriously.
01:56This is really dangerous.
01:57I know it's tough trying to get time out at the beach, but, again, when these storms threaten,
02:02when thunder roars go indoors, so, again, a couple of deadly events here with so many people outside
02:07trying to enjoy the holiday weekend on this Friday.
02:11But a lot of dangers are out there with thunderstorms especially, but also that heat.
02:15That's a big deal.
02:15We have strong storms popping.
02:17There is a new severe thunderstorm watch in central Nebraska, including Valentine.
02:21But, otherwise, many other areas still under severe thunderstorm watches.
02:24Rapid City to Winter, South Dakota, Detroit, and areas like Fulton County, Ohio, west end areas near
02:31and east to South Bend into Angola, Indiana.
02:34And then also many areas here, eastern New York State, central New York State,
02:37down through the eastern part of PA and New Jersey as well until 11 p.m.
02:42Some of these counties have been trimmed out of the watch there off to the west.
02:44Now, we are going to be dealing with more strong and severe storms in some of these areas across parts
02:49of the northeast.
02:51And the severe weather is probably going to be a little more intense this evening and into the night.
02:55Sioux Falls to Omaha and Lincoln, where you're under one of those severe thunderstorm watches.
02:59Also, we've seen nasty storms in southern Michigan.
03:02And, again, a nasty situation there still in southern Wisconsin after those storms earlier.
03:07Looking at southeastern South Dakota, let's zoom in to Sioux Falls.
03:11Big-time storms likely this evening here, damaging wind, hail, and flash flooding because of the slow-moving nature of
03:17these storms
03:18and also the fact that we've seen numerous storms earlier in the week in similar areas, too.
03:23You know, the big story tomorrow might be heat, but I'm seeing a lot of green on the map as
03:26well.
03:27We have both big-time heat and strong thunderstorms on our July 4th.
03:31So, in our forecast feed, we've been looking at the details of the timing of these storms.
03:35I'm going to press pause around fireworks time approximately.
03:39And here we are at 930 Eastern, 830 Central.
03:42Admittedly, it will be maybe an hour later than this in the Plains.
03:45But we're going to have some storms around the Delaware Valley, down into areas like Baltimore and parts of Virginia,
03:50also northwest Ohio.
03:51These are areas at great risk of perhaps some lightning cancellations or postponements for fireworks.
03:57Big problems into the Plains as well with large clusters of storms.
04:01Some will be severe in Kansas, western Missouri, and surrounding areas on Saturday.
04:06And then also up into the northeast here, strong and severe storms.
04:09Damaging wind is the main concern with all this.
