00:00Storms once again targeting the midwest last night. Hail covered this baseball field in Illinois. Look at that there, Anna.
00:06And such small hail that at first glance kind of looks like snow, right? But then camera zooms in a
00:11little bit and you can see the small little pellets there.
00:14Say pea-sized hail is a good descriptor. So thankfully it wasn't bigger, but man, there's a lot of it.
00:22And severe weather season really just getting going. We get a weekend break and then things start up again.
00:27So let's break it down piece by piece. Portions of the northern plains are going to be warming up.
00:32Others, you rebound enough from that cold front that moved through, brought us back to winter.
00:36You get back to no shading equals about where you should be this time of year.
00:40However, we've elevated fire danger. I know after that rain might seem a little confusing, but the ground just not
00:47saturated enough.
00:49Still dry conditions, low relative humidity, some wind lingering creates the perfect conditions for that elevated fire danger.
00:57So keep that in mind. You want to take precautions against accidentally sparking something.
01:01We look at the weekend as a whole. Chicago rebounding nicely from 50 to 63 Saturday to Sunday, staying significantly
01:09windy in Omaha on Saturday.
01:11Hence the elevated fire danger, right? But we get close to 80 by the time we get to Sunday.
01:15It's a little bit less pronounced of a warmup in Green Bay, but you know what?
01:20Forties to fifties will take what we can get, especially considering a lot of us are historical average.
01:25So where we should be this time of year, it's a temperature in the forties, maybe the low fifties, depending
01:30on your exact location in the region.
01:32So about where we should be, though, by Monday, the heat is on.
01:37Take a look at the records that are going to be challenged.
01:4090 in Wichita is set to really smash that previous record from 1917.
01:44Rapid City is set to tie a previous record from 1986 and heat fuels the severe weather.
01:51It is back come Monday, mainly a damaging wind event.
01:54Honestly, relatively similar to what we just saw.
01:56Damaging wind, hail, some flooding downpours, certainly not out of the question.
02:00It continues Tuesday, a lot of the same areas getting hit again, places like Chicago, Indianapolis, over into Columbus.
02:06This time we add more of an isolated tornado threat.
02:09But again, both days be prepared for all types of severe weather.
02:13Keep checking back with us for the latest on this forecast.
