00:00okay this is bad we've never rescued a dog this traumatized before this is scout he's only 11
00:06months old and we honestly have no idea how we're going to help him feel confident again
00:11he won't even look at us this is gonna be really tough so let's go to the moment we first
00:16met scout
00:18this is the first time scout has ever been in a home and straight away we could tell
00:23he's different to any dog we've ever rescued he just hasn't moved so i think the plan is
00:28try and get him into the garden yeah so he's probably in the toilet apparently he's weed on
00:31the floor so he's coming he's had a few accidents bless him he's weed himself pooed himself because
00:37he's just so scared he is absolutely terrified we need to get him into the garden he's probably
00:43pooped himself there yeah i'm just gonna sit here i'm not gonna pay him he looks super scared to be
00:48honest probably even me sitting here is scaring a bit we do want to get him into the garden because
00:52he clearly needs the toilet we've also got three dogs for him to meet we have no idea how that's
00:57going to work with him like this but for now let's just try and get him into the garden we
01:02have put
01:02down some puppy pads because he's so scared we probably just want him to go to the toilet we'll
01:09see how he is in the garden and then maybe just take him straight to decompress before meeting the
01:14dogs maybe we can move his crate so he's got his little section because he is terrified yeah you've
01:18never seen a dog like this scared i don't think it'd be fair to overwhelm him with all of the
01:23dog meets
01:23right now i think he needs time to just realize he's in a safe environment unfortunately he can't
01:28stay where he is now he can escape out the front door way too easily if it was opened we
01:33need to
01:33get him behind these doors so we at least know he's secure we've had to get a slip lead because
01:39he doesn't have a collar on him he doesn't have a harness on him because he's so scared the last
01:42thing we want to do is try and manhandle him have our face really close to him trying to put
01:46a harness
01:46on him and then get bit so unfortunately slip lead is kind of the only option we have right now
01:51even if we
01:52tried a collar or harness he'd be able to wriggle out scout has already attempted to bite someone
01:56during his journey here i'll explain what happened later but i don't have any bike gloves so some ski
02:02gloves will have to do i guess the puncture wound would be less yeah i don't think i honestly don't
02:07i think he's too scared i think he'd be too scared to bite you but if he did at least
02:10it's not going to
02:11be too painful for you i'm getting nervous now which isn't great because he's going to pick up on
02:14this that's the last thing i want i just want to be nice and calm and relaxed so first i'm
02:19going to do
02:19is sit opposite him i'm just going to put it here see if he wants to sniff it i'm guessing
02:24not
02:24poor he literally hasn't moved good boy so i'm just touching with it just see how he reacts kind
02:32of stroking with it i'm not entirely sure how i'm going to get this on him because he's resting his
02:36face on his paw scout scout what do i do i think you're gonna have to mate you're gonna have
02:45to get
02:46your hands in there should we get a treat there is no no the treat is not the answer ellis
02:51thought of
02:52an idea i'm gonna grab both sides and try and scoop this under his face then if he nips you
02:57it's it's
02:58you're okay you might have to put your hand physically down the side of the wall
03:07jj just get come on i don't want to you're gonna have to he's scared he's not gonna move because
03:12he just wants to be a small he doesn't he wants to be invisible obviously he's in a corner so
03:16it's
03:16very hard to try and put this on and not feel like i'm trapping him into a corner and then
03:20i came up with
03:20an idea to get this lead on the idea is i can use this to get his head to just
03:26move slightly up because
03:27i need is his head to just get away from his paw can you tell her that we're amateurs just
03:31trying
03:31to help yeah really gently oh there you go oh well done jj it's there right do you want me
03:42to take
03:42that's okay you've just dropped it on the floor right give me this hang on hang on
03:48okay don't tighten that around his neck yet let's just leave him with that so he just knows he's okay
03:53exactly right it's on now so now it's on we have to unfortunately now move him i really didn't want
04:00to do this but he couldn't stay here and you can see just how shut down he is i couldn't
04:05think of
04:05another way to move him because he kept going to the toilet we're going to bring him into the garden
04:10and see how he does there i'm gonna wait here he's going to the toilet he's just had a wee
04:25it's okay oh that was weed yeah he's very scared he's really scared it's okay come on scout boy come
04:35on come on it's okay come on come on come on good boy
04:43he is so frightened oh my god when he's had a pee he just doesn't want to move i don't
04:50think this i
04:51think we should put him in the garden no obviously not i think we just set up his crate in
04:55a separate
04:55area i've put all of the dogs away kobe's currently there in the conservatory i've put his bed up just
05:01so it doesn't get wee or poo on it the other two dogs are chilling in their crates and then
05:05we have
05:05opened his we're going to section it off so he has his little space in the corner he's literally like
05:11hidden his head because he just wants the ground to swallow them up and he's laying in his own way
05:15so
05:16unfortunately we are going to have to move them again i know it doesn't look great on camera but the
05:20thing is a lot of these time with these rescues when they're this scared obviously they won't
05:24move and he can't stay out here it's cold not only is it cold he's once again a huge flight
05:29risk being
05:29left alone in the garden so unfortunately we're going to have to move him just one last time i'm
05:35sorry scout uh do you want to move the bucket because it's going to scare him because of the noise
05:38i'm sorry to get rid of your hidey hole i'm sorry oh he's got dust stuck to his face okay
05:47sorry that is so cute he's got a little dash dash this is the first time he's even just looked
05:52around so i'm not even gonna move him yet i'm just i'm gonna let him just get his bearings he
05:56doesn't
05:56know where it is good boy oh you hide in the water bowl see tiny sniffs of the ground he's
06:03getting up
06:04he's thinking about getting up he's thinking about tucking himself i think he's trying to find somewhere
06:09else to hide yeah but he's this is the first time he's looked he might be able to smell the
06:14dogs
06:15and you can hear the dogs oh he's so cute he is he's really cute he's trying to tuck himself
06:20in
06:21yeah he is i think he's trying to make himself smaller yeah yeah he is i think just let's move
06:28him so he can have the whole day to decompress all right i hate this but i'm so sorry scout
06:32mate but
06:33sorry scout i'm just gonna think there's no point in even trying to do this gently nice he's gonna be
06:38erratic but but i mean gentle is the best thing so then i guess we're showing him okay it's so
06:44okay let's use soft voice good boy it's okay okay i know you don't want to move all right good
06:51boy
06:51move you good boy it's okay good boy there you go oh the water bowl good boy it's all right
06:59good boy oh it's okay it's all right keep no because he's gonna pee and wee in there that's
07:04fine he's gonna pee and wee everywhere yeah but let's just get him into the spot it's all right
07:12good boy good boy good boy good boy there you go good boy i want to take how do we
07:21take this off
07:23you're gonna have to you're gonna have to lean in there no thank you i've got an idea we have
07:29to take
07:29the slip lead off him because it's a huge choking hazard leaving it on good boy there you go it's
07:36nice and loose good boy nice there you go there you go there there you go good boy he's in
07:52there good
07:53i don't want to shut it on him because he's just been in the back of a van locked in
07:58a crate for
07:59three days so scout came to us from north macedonia he apparently had bit the driver when they were
08:04trying to get him out for toilet breaks and into our home i don't blame scout at all he's just
08:09so
08:09scared so we're just going to sort out the puppy pads tidy up the wee and everything and then we'll
08:14let
08:14these dogs out he may be in here for like days what would be interesting is how he reacts when
08:20the other
08:20dogs are here like like i said we know that he's friendly with dogs we actually visited scout in
08:25north macedonia and we know from this he loves other dogs so how will he be with our dogs so
08:31what
08:32i'm gonna do now is just open the door for this one we'll do one dog at a time i
08:37don't think he's
08:37even realized he's here come here you haven't even realized there's another dog there have you
08:43no kobe come look what's this come oh he's showing some interest there you go
08:50oh he's perked up a bit that's interesting he's trying to have a sniff of him
08:58he's really scared of me but you can see he's like oh there's another dog here kobe's being really
09:05good he's looking a bit more interested okay do you know what next dog i'm going to let out actually
09:09is cindy she's our other come on cindy she's our other rescue who's very scared so my guess is
09:15she may not do a whole lot i say she's very scared but oh my god she looks like the
09:19bravest dog in the
09:19world compared to poor scout when cindy first arrived she was absolutely terrified seeing her
09:25start to come out her shell is why we're rescuing more dogs like her this year hopefully we can do
09:30the same with scout if you'd like to support us hitting subscribe really helps we're trying to hit
09:35one million subs this year okay cindy i think is just a bit confused she's not entirely sure there's
09:40a dog here so let me let this one out yes good girl she also doesn't even know there's a
09:45dog here
09:45mokey come look there's a dog here look look there good girl she's sniffing oh there you go i think
09:55she's just realized well this is obviously not really a me but just what we're going to do for now
10:00he clearly just needs his area to decompress he could be in there for days we don't know but we're
10:05going to do what we usually do we're just going to give him this area let him decompress so we
10:09left
10:09him to decompress we noticed he even started stress panting for the first time which is actually
10:15good because he was literally too scared to even do that earlier after he had a good nap we attempted
10:20to feed him some dinner it is the evening time now scout has been chilling in his crate for about
10:26three or four hours and we've come up with a plan what we've got here is some rare steak and
10:32we're
10:32just going to see if he takes it no clue he's probably too stressed to eat but what dog is
10:37going
10:37to deny steak it looks like our other rescue would also like some steak we also have here some hemp
10:42oil
10:43to try and sort of like calm him down as well so let's see if we can feed him all
10:48right let's see
10:49how he reacts to this if i'm going to give it to him like this
10:54okay i think he's scared of my hand i'm just going to leave a bit there for him
10:57let's see what he does
11:00that's really sad because i've never seen a dog deny steak before i'm not even going to look
11:06at him please don't chew my hand off did he lick his lips no he's very frightened i don't think
11:13he
11:13wants it okay well what we're going to do then i'm going to leave him a couple pieces and let's
11:19leave
11:19him to it and let's see what he does he looks like he wants to eat it just too scared
11:24but we had
11:24another camera filming him and whilst we watched in the other room like anxious parents we see him
11:29actually eat the steak this made us so happy so we decided to leave him a bowl we are going
11:35to leave
11:36this in scout's crate with a couple drops of hemp oil scout was a street dog in north macedonia and
11:43it's
11:43likely he was badly treated by people and maybe even beaten that kind of starts to explain the huge
11:50trust issues you see we're going to leave him to it watch him on the camera and hopefully he eats
11:54that
11:54there's only a tiny bit of steak in there we just wanted to eat something he's probably starving the
11:58poor thing okay annoyingly the camera didn't pick it up but as you can see well i don't know if
12:04you can
12:04see the bowl is empty so i'm now just gonna very slowly try and take it out of his crate
12:11good boy scout
12:12he does not look very happy can i just take this so he must have actually gotten up and eaten
12:18it
12:19because look i'm gutted the camera didn't pick it up because obviously we thought he wouldn't actually
12:24move from that one position he's been there for about six hours granted he's still going to be
12:28decompressing so understandable so he left him to settle for his first night and he's literally been
12:34in that same position in his crate for 10 hours but at literally 7am the next day he finally moved
12:41we're so glad he actually moved but we were worried because he still hasn't gone to the toilet and in
12:46the next morning we had a plan to help him so the plan is we're gonna feed all the dogs
12:51we're gonna
12:51leave scout some food because he hasn't properly eaten he's been a bit scared i know we ate a tiny
12:56bit last night we've got kobe mokey and cindy's food right cindy yes let's go and do scout we have
13:06put
13:06some more hemp oil in scout's food to try and help with his stress a little bit he is fully
13:12tucked away
13:13in his crate so we're just gonna give him a little bit of steak terrified the poor thing absolutely
13:21terrified he didn't eat and that's okay but we wanted him to get used to people in the least
13:27stressful way i am very simply just gonna sit here with scout and also let him see kobe because we
13:35want him to just feel safe so i'm thinking if i just do this for like 10 minutes a day
13:40it'll hopefully
13:41get him used to being with dogs and being with people of course what's insane is the fact that
13:46i'm pretty sure he's never been in a house before and the fact that he hasn't obviously gone to sniff
13:51around or anything yet like literally nothing and a dog has to be like so insanely scared to not
13:57even wonder where they are really really sad to see so i sat there just completely ignoring him
14:03you can see how often he went to look at me but this is where both me and ella can
14:07show him not all
14:08humans are bad and then we couldn't believe it because we had our first mini breakthrough so we
14:14were doing a time lapse of scout ella just started putting treats in the crate and he's eating them
14:20must be really hungry that's so good oh he has to travel a bit for them i also wonder if
14:28he prefers
14:28woman more because i'm not making it i'm not looking at him at all he's a bit nervous to lean
14:33forward
14:33any tiny progress like this is a massive win ella then sits there with scout so he knows she's safe
14:39she then fed him dinner and he did this
14:47he's honestly the sweetest boy he even got up and started housing his food down we put him to bed
14:53and
14:54he actually started exploring for the first time too he got up and had a little sniff of the air
14:59remember this is his second night here and literally the first time he's even tried to figure out where
15:05he is he very cautiously steps out his crate is having a good look around and then our other
15:11rescue cindy growls at him and he gets scared this was at like four in the morning anyway i heard
15:21it
15:21so i came down and put a blanket over the fence so he can explore without being told off he
15:27then
15:27actually sits out his crate having a sniff of everything and finally goes for a wee i've honestly
15:34never seen a dog wee laying down before it must be because he's so scared the poor thing but we're
15:39so glad he's finally going to the toilet two nights in i was getting ready to call the vet if
15:44he didn't go he gets even braver after that he has a sniff of the camera and it captures this
15:50adorable
15:50shot of him even puts one paw on the sofa to see what's above it has a bit more of
15:55a sniff
15:56then goes back into his crate what a night of exploring for scout
16:02good morning everyone sorry i have a little bit of a cold but he went to the toilet
16:08good boy i'm gonna clean this up and i'm gonna get all the dogs fed
16:13so ella cleans up scout's puppy pads and then continues trust building with him
16:18this is our first trusting session of the day excuse me i'm still in my pajamas scout here has
16:25a breakfast he's still very shy but he will eat now when we're in the vicinity which is nice
16:31so we're gonna try and do some trust work so i'm just gonna lay a couple of these pieces out
16:37and see
16:37if he eats them i'm gonna sit here i've got my phone because i'm planning on sitting here for quite
16:46a
16:47while just so that he learns i'm not a threat i'm not gonna really make eye contact with him i
16:52don't want
16:53him to get too uncomfortable ella continues sitting there and her patience pays off because scout
17:00starts going for the treats we're only three days in and what a journey it's been already from
17:06literally being too scared to move and wanting the ground to swallow him out to showing tiny signs of
17:12hope but boy we have a lot of work to do a few nights passed and things only got harder
17:22subscribe so you don't miss the next video on scout hope you enjoyed the video youtube thinks
17:27this video on screen is perfect for you to watch next so give it a tap or a click and
17:31i'll see you there bye
