00:00She's terrified we can barely even get close to her but somehow we need to

00:06build her confidence before she has a meet-and-greet with someone who

00:09hopefully becomes her forever home but to understand how we even got here we

00:13need to go right back to the very beginning the moment we first met her

00:19this is Jockey she's a bit unsure of us so this is the first time we met Jockey

00:26we actually met her at the shelter she was living in in Macedonia and sadly you

00:31can see just how unsure she is of us even in her safe home when Ella tried to

00:41get near her she still didn't want anything to do with her but after

00:45spending some time with all the dogs at the shelter we came back the next day and

00:50she did this she's already started to come out her shell more so we know

00:57there's some hope for her but how would she be when she arrived at our home so

01:02after spending two days traveling from Macedonia to here in the UK she finally

01:09arrived yeah I thought she'd be a bit scared pick her up JJ do you remember me so

01:15we're having a bit of trouble getting Jockey out of the van because she's scared

01:18bless her Jockey was sadly super scared so our focus right now is to just get her

01:24into the house thank you so much thank you thank you we took her straight into the

01:34garden and oh yeah she also came with three other dogs from the same shelter

01:39oh this one's scared Jockey hello good girl so Jockey is quite clearly a lot more scared than

01:49all the other rescues these seem quite happy Jockey good girl it's okay we have our two

01:58dogs upstairs so the rescues have some time to explore before meeting them so we can

02:04see there's definitely a more scared dog here but she's trying to be brave oh hello

02:10oh I can't wait for them to meet Kobe and Moki yeah you're gonna have a new best friend

02:13oh look at Jockey wow you can tell Jockey is really trying to be confident she's showing some

02:23good early signs I'm really surprised yeah so you're right there Jockey so we did have a fence

02:30set up behind us to try and get Jockey behind it but she doesn't want to go there and we

02:34don't want

02:35to force her so what we're gonna do now is we're gonna go and get our crazy dog with a

02:39Moki and get

02:40her to just meet one on one oh appeasement licks good girl Jockey good girl oh she keeps giving like

03:00appeasement licks to her that's adorable well done yeah she's gonna be your best friend we could not

03:07believe how good Jockey is with Moki and even Moki showing her lots of respect too good girl Moki well

03:15done well to be honest because she's fine with her I'm just gonna go and get our jealous very jealous

03:21called Retriever Kobe because I think this would be a good time to introduce them both yeah good girl

03:35oh the appeasement licks are adorable she's so submissive isn't she oh Kobe likes her doesn't he yeah

03:48similar ages yeah I reckon Kobe might fancier look at him he's gone all shy good girl Jockey

03:58oh that's really good they spotted the other dogs when Kobe and Moki met the other rescues it went

04:06really well and Jockey was doing great too but you'll see later on unfortunately she shut down

04:14so now the dogs have all had a chance to get to know each other it's time to try and

04:18progress Jockey

04:19into the house so what we're gonna do is just open this up again so the dogs can come into

04:25here

04:25because a lot of the time for some reason dogs are scared of this conservatory I think they just don't

04:29know what it is and then we're gonna open this door into the house and they can basically just come

04:32in their own time oh they're coming in oh my god you can see here just how unsure Jockey is

04:41oh my god Jockey's scared Becca's being really good oh Jockey's a bit scared bless her

04:51she just hit her head oh Jockey so it looks like we have got one dog that is a bit

04:57scared to come in

04:58oh Jockey's scared Becca's being really good oh look at Jockey oh the boyfriend came

05:06oh Moki's pushed her in Jockey I'm sorry I've just stepped on Jockey's poor Max and now she's

05:12really scared I feel so sad I'm not gonna follow her that was really sad sorry Jockey I'm sorry

05:19she's being good she's nowhere near as scared already it's really good progress Kobe literally loves this

05:24dog although Jockey seems pretty terrified she did show us a glimpse of her true personality

05:33well Jockey what are you doing she's getting all excited good girl rubbed herself up onto it

05:42oh she got a bit scared bless her so a few hours had passed and I was struggling to get

05:48near her

05:48so you can see Jockey is still a little bit unsure of me

05:52I'm not gonna force it obviously come on Jockey

05:57which is fine obviously they've literally been here for like two three hours and they can't all

06:00be as crazy as them two

06:04but we started to notice Jockey felt more comfortable with Ella

06:08oh she really likes you doesn't she

06:10yeah

06:13wants to trust

06:14yeah

06:16and then we needed to put a collar on and figured it's best that Ella did it

06:20oh you're not sure all right

06:22use a pet her and then try and yeah

06:24good girl

06:25oh well done

06:26oh good yeah

06:29hopefully doesn't need any adjustment

06:30no she's fine

06:32she's very submissive

06:34Kobe and Moki were playing and what happens next proves just how submissive she is

06:45oh she didn't even tell her off

06:47poor thing

06:48so it's really important we try and help Jockey grow her confidence because she will eventually go to her forever

06:54but we've got a long way to go before that

06:57over the next few weeks we're going to be getting in a professional dog behaviorist

07:01and we're going to be trying our best to transform her

07:04but we're still on our first day

07:06and even small things like getting her into the conservatory to eat is a challenge

07:10put her in the conservatory maybe

07:45we're getting into the evening time

07:47and the dogs are finally starting to feel

07:49how tired they are

07:51from their two days of traveling

07:53oh Jockey's literally

07:55falling asleep

07:58she is the cutest thing

08:02Jockey slept really well on her first night

08:05but how would she be tomorrow morning

08:23you can see she's feeling pretty unsure

08:25and when I try and get near her

08:27this is her reaction

08:28so you can see like even if I'm walking out

08:30I'm just walking towards the door

08:32I'm not actually walking into Jockey bless her

08:34just a little bit skittish

08:35which is fine

08:36you know she's

08:37she's gonna have her ups and downs

08:38hopefully she will come out of her shell more

08:40she's got plenty of time to do it

08:42which is good

08:43a few days had passed

08:45Jockey was pretty much still the same

08:47quite scared

08:48so we brought in our dog behaviorist

08:50Dillnaz

08:50to do some confidence building with her

08:52she lacks a bit of confidence

08:54so we're going to work on developing her confidence

08:57teach her a bit of resilience

08:58and we're going to do that through something called free work

09:01so free work is basically putting a bunch of random items on the ground

09:04and placing treats between them

09:06and letting Jockey interact with everything in her own time

09:10the idea is this helps build her confidence

09:12so let's see how she gets on

09:14she is a little bit unsure

09:16she is a little bit uncertain

09:18it's nice that she's choosing to explore

09:20so she's gone for the sprat first there

09:22and she spat it out

09:25Jockey then seems curious of me

09:27everything was going so great but

09:30just curious

09:31so her body language is not completely relaxed

09:35you can see by that

09:36and there she goes backing away

09:38and also if you look at her tail

09:40it's quite tough

09:41Jockey shut down and hid underneath the table

09:44her progress suddenly stopped

09:48Dillnaz did try and get her out

09:59so I'm purposely looked away again

10:03I know I'm looking out the window

10:04good girl

10:07I'm not going to force her to come to me

10:09you never want to force a dog to come to you for food

10:12which is why I'm throwing it towards her

10:15she can choose

10:16if she wants to come in or not

10:18it was working

10:19Jockey did start to show some curiosity

10:22I know I'm talking about you

10:25but then sadly went back to her safe space

10:30things weren't looking great

10:32but Dillnaz had one more trick up her sleeve

10:36we all left the room

10:37as she could have been feeling a bit intimidated

10:39by all of us being there

10:41so now we've left

10:42how will she react

10:45she's watching and she kind of looks like

10:47where are they all going

10:48yeah yeah

10:50so she's exploring

10:51is she

10:51yep

10:54so the Cavaletti poles made her startle

10:56let's see if she goes back

10:58so this will give us an idea about her resilience

11:00so Jockey hit one of the poles

11:03is she

11:05it made a loud noise

11:07she got scared

11:07but will she be brave enough to go back to what scared her

11:11and then she's gone back a little bit under the table

11:14and she's circling everything

11:16so what she's doing

11:17is she's trying to work out

11:18if things are gonna hurt her or not

11:21yeah

11:22right

11:22so that's why she's doing the circling

11:24she's eating the treats

11:25brilliant

11:26Jockey went back for more

11:28we couldn't believe it

11:29only her first training session

11:31and she's really showing us

11:33there's hope for her still

11:34we promise not to let you down Jockey

11:39so a few days had passed

11:41and Jockey's continuing her progress

11:43but this time with Kobe

11:45this is the first time like she's

11:47properly played with all the dogs

11:49Kobe keeps trying to mount her

11:53oh and it's giving her the zoomies

11:55it honestly brings a tear to my eye

11:57seeing her like this

11:58Jockey was previously at a shelter

12:00where they pocketed all the donations

12:02and she had to fight for everything

12:04sadly including food and water

12:07she's around five years old now

12:08has barely any teeth because of this

12:10and has lived a really tough life

12:13she was rescued from that horrible place

12:15by Happy Shelter

12:16and of course now is with us

12:34and Jockey is still scared of me

12:36but she shows that resilience again

12:50we're so proud of Jockey

12:52she's making great progress

12:53towards her meet and greet

12:55and finding her forever home

12:56we're about 10 days in

12:58since rescuing her

12:59and she came into the kitchen

13:01for the first time ever

13:03she's coming for it

13:04she won't fear

13:05I think so

13:08she's making amazing progress

13:11but everything is about to change for her

13:13because we're rescuing another four dogs

13:35so this is us trying to integrate 10 dogs together

13:39at the same time

13:41they are all from the same shelter

13:42but haven't seen each other for two weeks

13:45so how will Jockey react to all these dogs?

13:50alright Kobe is the first dog

13:54not from any of the shelters

13:56to meet all of the rescues

13:59we slowly let all the dogs through

14:01their meeting went well

14:02and last but not least

14:04to meet the dogs

14:05is Jockey

14:06the only dog left is

14:08this one

14:09who probably would have been the best to start with

14:12so open it up

14:14and it's Jockey girl

14:18Jockey who probably would have been the easiest to start with

14:20to be honest

14:29and so soft hearted

14:39so the dogs are starting to settle down a bit

15:55and we started to notice her slowly becoming best friends

15:59with our other rescue

16:36Jocky's progress has been amazing and over the next two weeks she had sessions with Dilnaz

16:42again and again and again and then we would repeat what Dilnaz did

16:48again and again and again until we finally got to this point.

16:57The past six weeks have been a lot of work but it's paid off because this is us

17:03chilling out in the lounge and amazingly with Jocky by our side but that's not all

17:08she then jumps onto the sofa to be next to Ella and yep that's Jocky on the

17:14sofa standing tall getting pets but it's not just Ella either because this is

17:19what she's like with me too. Look at how brave and adventurous she's even getting

17:24she's of course not perfect yet but to go from this when we first got her

17:30see Jocky is still a little bit unsure of me

17:33I'm not gonna force it obviously

17:35come on Jocky

17:37to this we're so proud of her. This does mean she's finally ready for her meet and greet

17:44but unfortunately we had someone lined up and they cancelled last minute

17:48so Jocky doesn't get the meet and greet we'd be training her up for but my

17:53friends came to visit her instead and this is the first time she's met a

17:56stranger but will she shut down again?

18:16we could not believe Jocky's reaction what an insane six weeks it's been if you
