00:00This rescue was terrified when we first met her.
00:03This is Luna.
00:04Over the past month, our whole pack have attempted to help transform her into becoming a completely different dog.
00:10Sort of like these two idiots.
00:17We knew it wouldn't be easy, but we've already made some progress.
00:22While she was improving so well, we got thrown a curveball that could change everything.
00:30She said sometimes it's just dropping in there for some reason.
00:34After spending the first week with her, we noticed how scared she is.
00:38She's had a really bad past, which I'll get into later.
00:41In the first few days, she really needed time to come out her shell.
00:45Her meeting Kobe and Moki went well because she pretty much ignored them,
00:49but she still showed a lot of signs of anxiety and being scared.
00:52One way that really showed is her separation anxiety.
01:07But after doing some training with her, desensitizing her to the front door,
01:12leaving for longer and longer periods of time, she started to improve.
01:16And we've now gotten her to a point where she's like this when we leave the house.
01:20Having Kobe there as her rock is something you'll notice happen quite a lot.
01:24Previously, we had to ignore Luna when we came back into the house.
01:28As hard as this was, it was to help her keep nice and calm and not make a big deal
01:32that we were back.
01:33But now she's completely calm when we leave, we can do this.
01:46It's crazy to see how far she's come with me and Ella.
01:49We paid her little to no attention in the first couple of weeks,
01:52and we'd only pet her when she came up to us.
01:54We didn't want to overwhelm her and figured if she just watched how we interacted with our dogs,
01:59she would eventually realize she's in a loving home.
02:02She's now gone from being this terrified dog with her tail tucked between her legs to this.
02:13When it was time for Luna's first walk, she was definitely scared.
02:17But once outside, she showed signs of gaining some confidence.
02:21And if we compare her first time outside to how she is now, the difference is crazy.
02:38We've even upgraded her to the long lead, and the difference in her body language now makes me so happy
02:44to see.

02:53We would even sometimes take Luna on solo walks just to let her sniff everything.
02:58By the way, can I just say that we have done zero lead training with Luna,
03:01and look how amazing she walks on her lead.
03:03But we want to help transform Luna into being a confident dog.
03:07So to do that, we need to socialize her with other dogs.
03:10So we've come to a popular dog walking spot to see how she gets on.
03:15And it wasn't long until Luna met her first dog.

03:20She was showing all the right signs.
03:22Her hackles weren't up, she didn't look timid or shy.
03:25She was actually showing an interest, which is amazing.
03:29She's gorgeous.
03:33She even wanted to get some pets from the nice lady.
03:38And Moki being the crazy Doberman, of course, wants to play.

03:46So we carried on the walk.
03:48Luna was having a great time.
03:49And then we saw another dog.
03:52Kobe was also there, just as a little extra support in case she needed it.
03:57She likes the small dogs.

04:02She was doing so well.
04:04She took everything in her stride.
04:06Moki ran around like a headless chicken.
04:07And then the dog meat started coming thick and fast.

04:37Luna, you got a friend.
04:41That really went as good as it could have.
04:44So we thought she's ready to take it up another level.
04:47We're in a city center.
04:48We want her to get used to being around crowds of people and going into shops.
04:53Luckily, it wasn't that busy today.
04:55So it was perfect for a first introduction.
04:57It's amazing how far Luna has come.
05:00She's around seven years old, likely older, but has lived a tough life.
05:04You can see how bad her teeth are here.
05:07She's lived most her life in two shelters in North Macedonia.
05:10The first shelter were pocketing all the donations that helped the dogs.
05:14And we were told that Luna was likely eating stones and rocks because she was so hungry.
05:19But then her second shelter adopted all the dogs from that place.
05:23And Luna has been living much better there.
05:25She's never had any attention from anyone.
05:28And it was looking like she was going to live the rest of her life in the shelter.
05:31This is why we rescued Luna.
05:33We knew from these pictures, she's the sweetest soul and just needed a chance to shine.
05:38We took Luna into boots, which is basically a Walgreens if you live in the US.
05:42Probably butchered that pronunciation.
05:44It's pretty normal nowadays for dogs to be going into shops.
05:47So we're trying to expose her to as much as possible as long as she showed she was comfortable doing
05:52it.
05:53I think it definitely helps having Kobe there.
05:55Probably gave her more confidence being in her pack.
05:57And also his calmness, I'm sure would rub off on her if she was ever feeling unsure.
06:02And she was feeling unsure alright.
06:04Especially in the first few days with us.
06:06But it's amazing how fast the dog can change if you give them a little love and affection with a
06:10stable pack around her.
06:12I mean look at her body language here versus when I gave her food last night.

06:25We gave her treats that she just loved to chew on.

06:47Everything was going so well until sadly Luna started acting different.
06:52You could tell she hadn't just shut down again.
06:54Something was wrong.
06:55She'd also thrown up a few times so I took her to the vet for the first time.
06:59I had no idea how Luna would act going to the vet.
07:03So I'm just going to take this, click this arm and this arm and sometimes it's just dropping
07:07in and out of her heart for some reason.
07:10Amazingly she was so good.
07:11Took everything in her stride but the news wasn't so good.
07:15Luna's heartbeat sounded off so they took her in for an ECG scan.
07:25This measures her heartbeats.
07:27The results came back and she had some irregular heartbeats.
07:30It could have been a number of things.
07:31She had an ear infection and was ill so this could be why.
07:35Luna also has really bad teeth.
07:37That bad teeth and gums could be sending bacteria into her bloodstream and affecting her heart.
07:43Or it could be the early signs of her heart disease which we were praying it wasn't.
07:47She was given an anti-sickness jab and got sent home with some antibiotics and some eardrops.
07:52This all came at the hefty price of over £400.
07:56Ouch.
07:57And we're going to be taking her back to the vet later on for another ECG test to see if
08:02her heartbeat is still irregular.
08:04Luna's already been through so much and it just wouldn't be fair if she had a heart disease.
08:08We did try and offer her some food but no surprise she didn't take it.
08:18We just felt so bad for her but we were hoping it was just an illness.
08:23So as we wanted her to get over the illness as quick as possible the first thing we did was
08:27her eardrops.

08:33Luckily the next day she was already starting to act like herself.
08:36Hopefully this is a sign for good news when we go back to the vets.

08:53We also started her antibiotics.
08:56We had to cover them in cheese and honestly was so hard to make sure she actually ate the tablet.

09:22She did eventually eat it and we gave her some cheese as a reward too.

09:39Because she was feeling better it meant we could continue Luna's transformation into becoming a confident dog again.
09:45When we first got Luna you could tell she has likely been hit in the past.
09:48When we went to pet her she flinched.
09:51But she's definitely starting to trust us because you can see how good she is now.
09:54With her newfound confidence we thought it was important to show Luna how loved she is.

10:07The last time Luna was in a car.
10:09Well she was actually in the back of a van for three days.
10:12She was driven all the way from North Macedonia to here in the UK.
10:15So we're unsure how she'll react being back in the car again.
10:19So now we just wanted to get used to being in the car.
10:22Of course we have Kobe and Moki with us.
10:24They've really helped her throughout her whole transformation.
10:28She was completely fine in the car which was great news.
10:31All three dogs were happy back there.
10:34We're going to be taking Luna to the vets tomorrow and really hope she doesn't have any underlying issues.
10:40But today is a well needed pamper day for her.
10:42I'm not sure when the last time would have been where she got washed.
10:45And I'm also not sure how much she's going to enjoy this.
10:48But it's time for her first groom in probably years.

11:59So our lovely vet did it for us
12:01And now the big moment, does she still have
12:04An irregular heartbeat
12:05She was such a good girl and stood really still
12:08Whilst the vet had a long listen
12:11And... normal
12:12The vet checked her heartbeat against her other pulses
12:14And everything sounded as it should
12:16We were so relieved
12:18She had started acting so much like herself again
12:20Kobe and Moki were thrilled too
12:22We only had one last thing to do
12:24And that was to celebrate by taking Luna
