01:23Son, Kyrie Eleison
04:19Amen.
04:49has eternal life remaining within him by this we know love because he laid down
04:57his life for us and so we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers but
05:06whoever has the world's goods and sees his brother in need closing the heart of
05:12compassion against him cannot have God's love remaining within him my little
05:22children let's not love in word only or with tongue only but also in deed and
05:30truth by this we know that we are of the truth and persuade our hearts before him
05:39because if our hearts condemns us God is greater than our hearts and knows all
05:45things beloved if our hearts don't condemn us we have boldness toward God and
05:54whatever we ask we receive from him because we keep his commandments and do
06:00the things that are pleasing in his sight
06:04this is his commandment that we should believe in the name of his son Jesus
06:10Christ and love one another even as he commanded he who keeps his commandments
06:17remains in him and he in him by this we know that he remains us by the spirit which
06:29he gave to us this is the word of the Lord thanks be to God
06:59for the Lord thanks be to God our most of ourЖ
07:29Lord of glory, you have brought us
07:36With your life the best of Christ
07:43Never grudging for the lost ones
07:49That tremendous sacrifice
07:55And with glad and freely given
08:03Blessings count with fast of sound
08:09To whom thankful and evil
08:15With your own unsparing hand
08:25Grant us hearts, dear Lord, to give you
08:32Gladly, freely as your own
08:39With the sunshine of your goodness
08:45Melt our thankless hearts of stone
08:52Till our cold and selfish natures
08:59Formed by you at length believe
09:04That more happy and more blessed
09:12Tis to give and to receive
09:22Congress, Father, you have given
09:28To our humblest charity
09:34Give your own mysterious sentence
09:42You have done it all for me
09:48Make us live in prison
09:54Make us live in prison
09:55Hungry in the least
09:59Your faith we knew
10:02Save me by your glory and need
10:09Give and buy and give to you
10:20Lord of glory, you have brought us
10:27With your life the best of Christ
10:34Never grudging for the lost ones
10:42That tremendous sacrifice
10:46That tremendous sacrifice
10:48Leave us free to trust you
10:54Only hope to save our souls
11:03When there are four in more
11:07How will your grace
11:09Only hope to save us
11:16If our hearts are new
11:18Welcome to verse 2
12:02The Gospel according to Saint Luke, chapter 14.
12:09Jesus said to him, A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people.
12:16He sent out his servant at suppertime to tell all who were invited, Come, for everything
12:22is ready now.
12:24They all as one began to make excuses.
12:29The first said to him, I have bought a field, so I must go and see it.
12:34Please excuse me.
12:36Another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go and try them out.
12:42Please excuse me.
12:45Another said, I have just married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
12:51That servant came and told his lord these things.
12:55The master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets
13:01and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, the maimed, the blind and the lame.
13:10The servant said, Lord, it is done as you commanded, and there is still room.
13:17The Lord said to the servant, Go out into the highways and the hedges, and compel them
13:23to come in, that my house may be filled.
13:27For I tell you that none of those men who were invited will taste of my supper.
13:33This is the word of the Lord.
13:36Thanks be to God.
13:45A certain man made a great supper.
13:49Verse 16.
13:54When the fullness of time was come, God the Eternal Father said,
13:58In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin, I take no pleasure.
14:06Then said the Son, I come.
14:10He came that he might take away the valueless sacrifice,
14:16and establish the one full and perfect propitiation for the sins of the world.
14:22And indeed it was time.
14:25All great creation was groaning and working in pain, waiting for redemption.
14:32And then he said, I come.
14:37The souls of the faithful were in Hades.
14:41Prophets, patriarchs and kings, desirous to see his day.
14:44He came, prisoners in hope, anxious to be released by the blood of the covenant.
14:50And he said, I come.
14:55Men wandered in darkness, desiring light.
14:58The whole head was sick, and the whole heart faint.
15:02And in their error, darkly, and in their sickness, faintly.
15:06They sought the Lord.
15:09If only they might feel after him.
15:14And he said, I come.
15:19They did not know the way of God, how they might walk, and they needed a guide.
15:30They were sunk in sin, and found that the old bloodied sacrifices and burnt offerings
15:37did nothing for the guilt.
15:39They needed a more perfect sacrifice.
15:50They knew not what the nature of God was, and they made for themselves gods in the likeness of men.
15:59How would they know without a teacher?
16:05And Jesus Christ said, I come.
16:13At this day, his answer is, still, promptly, when he is needed.
16:20Look, I come.
16:24Does any father desire his little one to be taken into the arms of Christ and blessed?
16:32I come.
16:35Does any man need direction, guidance, help in the way of life?
16:42Look, I come.
16:44I will never leave you, nor will I ever forsake you.
16:52Does any desire sustaining food along the way?
16:57He says, I come, and the bread I give is my flesh, which I give for the life of the
17:04world.
17:08Is any of you burdened with the weight of sin, anxious for pardon and reconciliation?
17:17I come, and even though your sins are scarlet, they shall be made as white as new wool.
17:29Are any in sorrow with a sore heart?
17:34I come, and when you go through the waters, I am with you.
17:54How striking is the readiness of our blessed Lord.
18:00Let us now look at today's gospel and see how this is met by man.
18:05Christ is represented as having made a great supper, the Holy Eucharist,
18:11unto that he invites us all.
18:14And he sends out his messengers, bidding them to come.
18:19But they all, with one consent, begin to make excuses.
18:24The messengers go to the man who has bought oxen and invite him to the supper of the Lord,
18:30and his answer is,
18:33Leave me, I must be excused.
18:38They go to the man who has bought a farm, and his answer is,
18:42I beg you, excuse me.
18:45They go to the man who has married a wife, and his answer is,
18:50I cannot come.
18:55I come, says our Lord.
19:00I cannot come, says man.
19:05I come to man, says Christ.
19:09I cannot come to Christ, says man.
19:19It was the rule amongst the early Christians to communicate every Lord's day.
19:28The rule of the church is laid down in its service books,
19:31then ordered that all who were open and scandalous livers,
19:37all those who had committed a deadly sin and had not been reconciled to God,
19:43should leave church before the consecration, after the gospel.
19:50Now suppose some good old bishop of that day were to rise from the dead,
19:54and come into the church,
19:57what would he see?
20:01Directly the sermon is over,
20:03a rush of everyone in the church,
20:06men, women and children, out of the door,
20:09and only maybe two or three,
20:13maybe a few more,
20:14remaining to share in the Lord's body.
20:19That is what he would see.
20:23And what would he say?
20:27What is this?
20:28All these notorious sinners,
20:31all these open profligates,
20:34all these burdened with mortal sin,
20:37cutting them off from the grace of God.
20:41Take me back to my grave,
20:43for I don't want to see any more of such horrible days.
20:53But if I happen to be present,
20:54I would say to him,
20:56you jump to conclusions too rashly.
21:02Times are altered,
21:03it is not the criminal and the profligate
21:05who go out of the church
21:07before the consecration of the blessed sacrament,
21:10and are unworthy to eat of the Lord's body.
21:14But it is those who cannot make up their minds
21:17to do what the Lord has commanded.
21:20It is those who are half-hearted,
21:24who wish to serve God,
21:26but do not wish to serve him very much.
21:34Then, I doubt not,
21:36the old bishop would turn upon me
21:37with a wrathful face and say,
21:40then let me go back to my grave,
21:43for this is far worse,
21:44a thousand times worse.
21:47The whole Christian world has grown cold of heart
21:50and dead in faith.
21:52If all with one consent begin to say,
21:54I cannot come.
21:59I had rather they were hot or cold,
22:02but because they are neither hot or cold,
22:04away,
22:05I cannot bear to look upon their faces.
22:07Let me go back to my grave.
22:14I know what is passing in your minds
22:17as well as if you had skulls of glass.
22:22And this is what I see
22:23that not a few of you are thinking.
22:27Here he is again,
22:29the old fool,
22:30always hammering away at communion.
22:33Can't he leave us alone?
22:36Why doesn't he talk to us
22:38about something else?
22:40Let him preach to us
22:42some real stinging gospel truth
22:44and make us wince.
22:47Anything but this eternal preaching
22:50about how we should come to communion?
22:56Let me tell you why I preach about this
22:59and hammer and hammer at it again and again.
23:04Because it is a good,
23:05stinging gospel truth
23:07and the grumbling that goes on
23:10is because your consciences
23:12wince at what I have to say.
23:18Listen,
23:19for once upon a time
23:20other people talked like you.
23:23When the children of Israel
23:24came out of Egypt,
23:26God in mercy
23:27sent them bread from heaven,
23:29manna,
23:30to feed them on their way
23:31through the wilderness.
23:34What did the people say
23:36in return for this blessing?
23:39Were they grateful?
23:41Were they eager to gather up
23:42the food of the angels?
23:47No way.
23:48For they sat and grumbled
23:51the entrance to their tents
23:52and said,
23:54Our soul is dried away.
23:56There is nothing
23:57besides this foul manner
24:00before our eyes.
24:03Put it in modern language,
24:06we might say,
24:08Our souls have dried up
24:10for their lack of preaching
24:11of free justification
24:13and no good at all
24:15in keeping the law.
24:16We don't want any
24:18of your sacramental teaching.
24:19No communion for us.
24:21We can do without it.
24:23Our soul abhors
24:25this light food.
24:26As for this holy communion,
24:28there is nothing
24:30but that preached to us
24:31year in, year out.
24:37Well, how about this?
24:39If this sacramental teaching
24:41is not God's own
24:44blessed gospel,
24:46there is no meaning in words.
24:50I have never said
24:51anything so strong.
24:53And this is what
24:54Christ himself spoke.
24:57I am the bread of life.
25:00Your fathers ate manna
25:02in the wilderness
25:03and are dead.
25:05I am the living bread
25:07which came down from heaven.
25:08And if any man
25:09eateth this bread,
25:10he shall live forever.
25:12The bread that I will give
25:14is my flesh,
25:15which I give for you,
25:17for the life of the world.
25:20Truly, I say to you,
25:22unless you eat the flesh
25:23of the son of man
25:24and drink his blood,
25:25you have no life in you.
25:29Whoever eats my flesh
25:31and drinks my blood
25:32has eternal life,
25:33and I will raise him up
25:35at the last day.
25:36For my flesh is meat indeed
25:38and my blood
25:39is drink indeed.
25:44Now, mind you,
25:45when Jesus said this,
25:46many of his disciples said,
25:49this is a hard saying.
25:52And from that time,
25:54they went back
25:55and talked no more with him.
25:59It is still so today
26:00and it will always be so.
26:03Just as many of the old Israelites
26:06loathed the manna
26:07and said,
26:08our souls are dried away,
26:10for there is nothing
26:12but this dread manna
26:13before our eyes.
26:16So there will always be
26:18faithless disciples
26:20who, when they hear
26:21the invitation
26:22to share in the body of Christ
26:24to the true manna,
26:25will say,
26:27this is a hard saying
26:28and will no more walk
26:30with him.
26:34Glory be to the Father
26:35and to the Son
26:36and to the Holy Spirit
26:38as it was in the beginning,
26:40is now and ever shall be,
26:42world without end.
26:44Amen.
26:50From paragraph 13
26:52of our Order of Service.
26:55I believe in one God,
26:57the Father Almighty,
26:59maker of heaven and earth,
27:01and of all things visible
27:02and invisible,
27:04and in one Lord,
27:06Jesus Christ,
27:07the only begotten Son of God,
27:10begotten of his Father
27:12before all worlds.
27:14God of God,
27:15light of light,
27:16very God of very God,
27:18begotten, not made,
27:20being of one substance
27:22with the Father,
27:23by whom all things were made,
27:25who for us men
27:27and for our salvation
27:28came down from heaven,
27:30and was incarnate
27:31by the Holy Ghost
27:32of the Virgin Mary,
27:34was made man,
27:35and was crucified
27:37also for us
27:38under Pontius Pilate.
27:41He suffered
27:42and was buried,
27:43and the third day
27:44He rose again
27:45according to the Scriptures,
27:47and ascended
27:48into heaven,
27:49and sitteth
27:50at the right hand
27:51of the Father.
27:53And He shall come again
27:54in glory
27:55to judge
27:56both the quick
27:57and the dead,
27:58whose kingdom
27:59shall have no end.
28:01And I believe
28:02in the Holy Ghost,
28:03the Lord,
28:04the giver of life,
28:06who proceeds
28:07from the Father,
28:08whose Father
28:09and the Son
28:10together
28:10is worshipped
28:12and glorified,
28:13who spoke
28:14by the prophets.
28:16And I believe
28:17one holy,
28:18catholic,
28:19and apostolic Church.
28:20I acknowledge
28:21one baptism
28:22for the remission
28:23of sins,
28:24and I look
28:25for the resurrection
28:26of the dead
28:27and the life
28:28of the world
28:29to come.
28:30Amen.
28:34Let us pray
28:35for the whole Church
28:36of God
28:37in Christ Jesus
28:38and for all men
28:40according to their needs.
28:44Almighty God,
28:46who has promised
28:46to hear the prayers
28:47of those who ask
28:49in faith.
28:52Lord,
28:53in your mercy,
28:54hear our prayer.
28:58Grant that we
28:59who confess
29:00thy name
29:00may be united
29:01in thy truth,
29:02live together
29:03in thy love
29:04and show forth
29:06thy glory
29:07in the world.
29:10Lord,
29:11in your mercy,
29:12hear our prayer.
29:18Direct this nation
29:19and all the nations
29:20in the ways
29:21of justice
29:22and of peace,
29:23that we may honour
29:25all men
29:25and seek
29:27the common good.
29:29Lord,
29:30in thy mercy,
29:31hear our prayer.
29:35save and comfort
29:36those who suffer,
29:37that they may hold
29:39to thee
29:39through good
29:40and ill
29:40and trust
29:42in thy unfailing love.
29:45Lord,
29:46in thy mercy,
29:48hear our prayer.
29:52Hear us
29:53as we remember
29:54those who have died
29:55in faith
29:56and grant us
29:57with them
29:58a share
29:59in thy eternal kingdom.
30:04grant these
30:05our prayers,
30:05O merciful Father,
30:07for the sake
30:07of thy Son,
30:08our Saviour,
30:09Jesus Christ.
30:11Amen.
30:16Seeing we have
30:17a great high priest
30:18who has passed
30:19into the heavens,
30:21Jesus,
30:21the Son of God,
30:22let us draw near
30:23with a true heart
30:24in full assurance
30:25of faith
30:26and make our confession
30:28to our Heavenly Father.
30:32Almighty God,
30:33our Heavenly Father,
30:34we have sinned
30:35against thee
30:36through our own fault
30:38in thought
30:38and word
30:39and deed
30:40and in what
30:42we have left undone.
30:44For thy Son,
30:45our Lord Jesus Christ's sake,
30:47forgive us all
30:48that is past
30:49and grant
30:50that we may
30:51serve thee
30:52in newness
30:52of life
30:53to the glory
30:54of thy name.
30:56Amen.
31:00Almighty God,
31:01have mercy upon you,
31:03pardon and deliver you
31:04from all your sins,
31:05confirm and strengthen
31:07you in all goodness
31:08and keep you
31:09in life eternal.
31:11Through Jesus Christ,
31:13our Lord.
31:14Amen.
31:17Hear what
31:18comfortable words
31:19our Saviour Christ says
31:21to all
31:22who truly
31:22turn to him.
31:25Come unto me
31:26all that travail
31:27and are heavy laden
31:28and I will
31:29refresh you.
31:32So God
31:33loved the world
31:33that he gave
31:34his only begotten
31:35Son
31:35to the end
31:37that all
31:37who believe
31:39in him
31:39should not perish
31:41but have
31:42everlasting life.
31:46Hear also
31:47what St Paul says
31:48This is a true saying
31:51and worthy
31:51of all men
31:52to be received
31:53that Christ Jesus
31:55came into the world
31:56to save sinners.
32:01Hear also
32:02what St John says
32:04If any man sin
32:05we have an advocate
32:07with the Father
32:08Jesus Christ
32:09the righteous
32:10and he
32:11is the propitiation
32:13for our sins.
32:19we do not
32:20presume
32:21to come
32:21to this
32:22thy table
32:22O merciful Lord
32:24trusting
32:25in our own righteousness
32:26but in thy
32:28manifold
32:28and great
32:29mercies
32:30we are not
32:31worthy so much
32:32as to gather
32:33up the crumbs
32:34under thy table
32:35but thou art
32:37the same Lord
32:37whose nature

35:14Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest.
35:23Blessed is he who comes, who comes in the name of the Lord.
35:36Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest.
35:55Hear us, O Father, through Christ thy Son our Lord.
35:59Through him accept our sacrifice of praise and grant that these gifts of bread and wine
36:06may be unto us his body and blood.
36:10Who in the same night that he was betrayed took bread.
36:17And when he had given thanks to thee he broke it and gave it to his disciples saying,
36:23Take, eat, this is my body which is given for you.
36:29Do this in remembrance of me.
36:34Likewise after supper he took the cup.
36:39And when he had given thanks to thee he gave it to them saying,
36:44Drink ye all of this for this is my blood of the new covenant
36:48which is shed for you and for many for the remission of sins.
36:53Do this as oft as you shall drink it in remembrance of me.
37:02Wherefore, O Lord, with this bread and this cup we make the memorial of his saving passion,
37:08his resurrection from the dead and his glorious ascension into heaven.
37:12And we look for the coming of his kingdom.
37:16We pray thee to accept this our duty and service.
37:21And grant that we may so eat and drink these holy things in the presence of thy divine majesty.
37:29That we may be filled with thy grace and heavenly blessing.
37:34Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.
37:37By whom and with whom and in whom.
37:40In the unity of the Holy Spirit.
37:43All honour and glory be unto thee, O Father almighty.
37:47From the whole company of earth and heaven.
37:51Throughout all ages.
37:53World without end.
37:55Amen.
38:03Have mercy upon thee, O Lord.
38:08Have mercy upon thee, O Lord.
38:08After thy gratefulness.
38:12According to the multitude of thy persons.
38:17Do away thine offenses.
38:21Wash me truly from thy wickedness.
38:26And who lend me from thy sins.
38:30And who lend me from thy sins.
38:31For I have gone and my thoughts.
38:35And my sin is never before.
38:40Correct me, O Lord.
38:42Have mercy upon thee, O Lord.
38:44Have mercy upon thee, O Lord.
38:47Have mercy upon thee, O Lord.
38:48Have mercy upon thee, O Lord.
38:57Have mercy upon thee, O Lord.
39:02And may not to pass me on.
39:08God who's foolishly had to release me.
39:15jangan
39:16Thou shalt break me to understand with one secret.
39:22Thou shalt hurt me with his work, and I shall be clean.
39:28Thou shalt wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
39:34Thou shalt make me hear of joy and gladness,
39:40that the bold which war and love hath made it joy.
39:46Thou shalt make me hear of joy and gladness,
39:53that the bold which war and love hath made it joy.
40:05Thou shalt make me hear of joy and gladness,
40:10and I shall be whiter of joy and gladness,
40:14that the bold which war and love hath made it joy and hope.
40:16O give me the comfort of thy hour again, and spavish me with thy free spirit.
40:27Then shall I teach thy ways unto the women, and still shall be converted unto thee.
40:39Deliver me from blood, guiltiness, O God, Thou that art the God of my head, and my tongue shall see
40:50of thy righteousness.
40:53Thou shalt open my hymn to God, and my mouth shall show thy praise.
41:01For thou desirest no sacrifice, else would I be with thee, but all delightest not in thy heart of it.
41:15The sacrifice of God is the love of sin, the broken and contrite God, O God, shall come up its
41:26time.
41:27The sacrifice of God is the love of sin, the broken and contrite God, and my tongue shall be pleased
41:41with the sacrifice of righteousness.
41:44With the burnt offerings and the relations, then shall they offer young good, and shall come thy brother.
41:58Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning,
42:11is now and ever shall be, and in our heaven. Amen.
42:33The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a sharing of the blood of Christ?
42:41The bread which we break, is it not a sharing of the body of Christ?
42:48For we, being many, are one bread, one body, we all partake of the one bread.
42:58O Lamb of God that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us.
43:05O Lamb of God that takest away the sins of the world, grant us thy peace.
43:23O Lamb of God that takest away the sins of the Lord, have mercy upon us.
43:24Let us pray.
43:26As our Saviour Christ has commanded and taught us, we are bold to say,
43:32Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
43:37thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this
43:47day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who
43:53trespass against us lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil amen
44:06draw near with faith receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ which was given for
44:13you and his blood which was shed for you and feed on him in your hearts by faith
