00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:02Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:03Therefore, I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:10voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:45But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:11Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 147
05:00Praise the Lord, for it is good to sing praises to our God.
05:05Yes, praise is pleasant and appropriate.
05:10The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem, and gathers the exiles of Israel.
05:15He heals the brokenhearted, and bandages their wounds.
05:21He counts the number of the stars.
05:23He names all of them.
05:26The Lord is great and has awesome power.
05:29There is no limit to his wisdom.
05:33The Lord lifts up the oppressed, but knocks the wicked to the ground.
05:40Offer to the Lord a song of thanks.
05:43Sing praises to our God, to the accompaniment of a harp.
05:48He covers the sky with clouds, provides the earth with rain, and causes grass to grow on the hillsides.
05:56He gives food to the animals, and to the young ravens when they chirp.
06:02He is not enamored with the strength of a horse, nor is he impressed by the warrior's strong legs.
06:10The Lord takes delight in his faithful followers, and in those who wait for his loyal love.
06:18Extol the Lord, O Jerusalem.
06:20Praise your God, O Zion.
06:23For he makes the bars of your gates strong.
06:27He blesses your children within you.
06:30He brings peace to your territory.
06:33He abundantly provides for you the best grain.
06:38He sends his command through the earth.
06:40Swiftly his order reaches its destination.
06:44He sends the snow that is white like wool.
06:48He spreads the frost that is white like ashes.
06:53He throws his hailstones like crumbs.
06:56Who can withstand the cold wind he sends?
07:00He then orders it all to melt.
07:03He breathes on it, and the water flows.
07:07He proclaims his word to Jacob.
07:10His statutes and regulations to Israel.
07:14He has not done so with any other nation.
07:17They are not aware of his regulations.
07:20Praise the Lord.
07:23Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
07:27As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
07:31World without end.
07:33Amen.

08:00Praise him, all you shiny stars.
08:04Praise him, O highest heaven, and you waters above the sky.
08:09Let them praise the name of the Lord.

08:16He established them, so that they would endure.
08:20He issued a decree that will not be revoked.
08:25Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea creatures, and all you ocean depths.
08:30O fire and hail, snow and clouds.
08:33O stormy wind that carries out his orders.
08:36You mountains, and all you hills.
08:39You fruit trees, and all you cedars.
08:41You animals, and all you cattle.
08:45You creeping things, and birds.
08:48You kings of the earth, and all you nations.
08:51You princes, and all you leaders on the earth.
08:55You young men, and young women.
08:57You elderly, along with your children.
08:59Let them praise the name of the Lord.
09:02For his name alone is exalted.
09:05His majesty extends over earth and sky.
09:11He has made his people victorious,
09:14and given all his loyal followers reason to praise.
09:18The Israelites, the people who are close to him.
09:23Praise the Lord.
09:25Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

09:57Let them praise his name with dancing.
10:00Let them sing praises to him,
10:02to the accompaniment of the tambourine and harp.
10:06For the Lord takes delight in his people.
10:10He exalts the oppressed by delivering them.
10:14Let the godly rejoice because of their vindication.
10:17Let them shout for joy upon their beds.
10:21May the praises of God be in their mouths,
10:24and a two-edged sword in their hands,
10:27in order to take revenge on the nations and punish foreigners.
10:32They bind their kings in chains and their nobles in iron shackles,
10:38and execute the judgment to which the enemies have been sentenced.
10:43All his loyal followers will be vindicated.
10:47Praise the Lord.
10:49Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

11:22Praise him with the blast of the horn.

11:42Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
11:46Praise the Lord.
11:48Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
11:53As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
11:58World without end.
12:00Amen.
12:09The second book of Kings, chapter 9.
12:15Elisha the prophet summoned a member of the prophetic guild, and told him,
12:20Tug your robes into your belt.
12:22Take this container of olive oil in your hand,
12:26and go to Ramoth-Gilead.
12:29When you go there, look for Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi,
12:34and take him aside into an inner room.
12:39Take the container of olive oil,
12:42pour it over his head, and say,
12:44This is what the Lord says.
12:46I have designated you king over Israel.
12:51Then open the door, and run away quickly.
12:56So the young prophet went to Ramoth-Gilead,
12:59and when he arrived, the officers of the army were sitting there.
13:02And so he said,
13:04I have a message for you, O officer.
13:07Jehu asked,
13:08For which one of us?
13:09He replied,
13:10For you, O officer.
13:14So Jehu got up, and went inside.
13:17Then the prophet poured the olive oil on his head,
13:20and said to him,
13:21This is what the Lord God of Israel says.
13:24I have designated you as king over the Lord's people, Israel.
13:29You will destroy the family of your master Ahab.
13:33I will get revenge against Jezebel,
13:35for the shed blood of my servants, the prophets,
13:38and for the shed blood of all the Lord's servants.
13:41Ahab's entire family will die.
13:44I will cut off every last male belonging to Ahab in Israel,
13:50including even the weak and the incapacitated.
13:56I will make Ahab's dynasty like those of Jeroboam, son of Nibat,
14:00and Bashar, son of Ahijah.
14:03Dogs will devour Jezebel on the plot of ground in Jezreel.
14:08She will not be buried.
14:10And then he opened the door and ran away.
14:18When Jehu rejoined his master's servants, they asked him,
14:22Is everything all right?
14:23Why did this madman visit you?
14:26He replied, It's not important.
14:29You know what kind of man he is, and the kinds of things he says.
14:36But they said, You are lying.
14:38Tell us what he said.
14:40And so he told them what he had said.
14:43He also told them how he had said,
14:46This is what the Lord says.
14:48I have designated you as king over Israel.
14:53Each of them took off his coat,
14:55and they spread their coats out at Jehu's feet on the steps.
15:01The trumpet was blown,
15:04and they shouted, Jehu is king.
15:07Then Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi,
15:11conspired against Joram.
15:15Now Joram had been in Ramoth-Gilead,
15:18and with the whole of the Israelite army,
15:20guarding against an invasion by King Hazael of Syria.
15:25But Joram had returned to Jezreel
15:28to recover from the wounds he had received from the Syrians
15:31when he had fought against King Hazael of Syria.
15:37Jehu told his supporters,
15:40If you really want me to be king,
15:43do not let anyone escape from the city,
15:45and go and warn Jezreel.
15:50Jehu drove his chariot to Jezreel,
15:53for Joram was recuperating there.
15:57Now King Ahaziah of Judah
15:59had come to visit Joram.
16:04So the watchman who was standing on the tower in Jezreel
16:07saw Jehu's troops approaching.
16:10He said,
16:11I see troops.
16:13Jehoram ordered,
16:14Send a rider out to meet them,
16:16and have them ask,
16:17Is everything all right?
16:20So the watchman went to meet him and said,
16:23This is what the king says,
16:25Is everything all right?
16:28Jehu replied,
16:29None of your business.
16:31Follow me.
16:33The watchman reported,
16:35The messenger reached them,
16:37but has not started back.
16:53The one who drives the lead chariot,
17:03drives like Jehu, son of Nimshi.
17:05He drives recklessly.
17:09Jehoram ordered,
17:10Hitch up my chariot.
17:14When his chariot had been hitched up,
17:17King Jehoram of Israel
17:18and King Ahaziah of Judah
17:20went out in their respective chariots
17:21to meet Jehu.
17:24And they met with him
17:25in the plot of land
17:26that had once belonged
17:27to Naboth of Jezreel.
17:33When Jehoram saw Jehu,
17:35he asked,
17:35Is everything all right, Jehu?
17:38He replied,
17:39How can everything be all right
17:41as long as your mother Jezebel
17:43promotes idolatry
17:45and pagan practices?
17:49Jehoram turned his chariot around
17:50and took off.
17:51He said to Ahaziah,
17:53It is a trap, Ahaziah.
17:56Jehu aimed his bow
17:58and shot an arrow
17:59right between Jehoram's shoulders.
18:03The arrow went through his heart
18:05and he fell to his knees
18:07in his chariot.
18:12Jehu ordered his officer, Bidkar,
18:15pick him up
18:15and throw him into the part
18:17of the field
18:18that once belonged to Naboth
18:19of Jezreel.
18:21Remember,
18:22you and I were riding together
18:23behind his father Ahab
18:25when the Lord pronounced
18:27this judgment on him.
18:29Know for sure
18:30that I saw the shed blood
18:31of Naboth
18:32and his sons yesterday,
18:33says the Lord,
18:35and that I will give you
18:36what you deserve
18:37right here
18:37in this plot of land.
18:40So now pick him up
18:41and throw him
18:42into this plot of land
18:43just as the Lord has said.
18:51When King Ahaziah of Judah
18:52saw what had happened,
18:54he took off
18:54up the road
18:55to Beth Hagam.
18:57Jehu chased him
18:58and ordered,
18:59shoot him too.
19:01And they shot him
19:02while he was driving
19:03his chariot
19:03up the ascent of Gur
19:05near Iblen.
19:07He fled to Mejido
19:09and died there.
19:11His servants
19:12took his body
19:12back to Jerusalem
19:13and he was buried
19:15with his ancestors
19:16in the city of David.
19:20Ahaziah had become
19:21king over Judah
19:22in the eleventh year
19:23of Joram son of Ahab.
19:28Jehu approached Jezreel.
19:31When Jezebel heard the news,
19:32she put on some eyeliner,
19:34fixed up her hair
19:35and leant from the window.
19:37When Jehu came in
19:39through the gate,
19:39she said,
19:40Is everything all right,
19:41Zimri,
19:42murderer of his master?
19:45He looked up
19:46at the window
19:46and said,
19:47Who is on my side?
19:48Who?
19:50Two of three
19:51of the eunuchs
19:52looked down at him.
19:53He called out,
19:55Throw her down!
19:56And so they threw her down.
19:58And when she hid the ground,
19:59her blood spattered
20:00against the wall
20:01and the horses
20:03and Jehu
20:04drove his chariot
20:05over her.
20:06He went inside
20:07and had a meal.
20:10Then he said,
20:11Dispose of this
20:12accursed woman's corpse.
20:14Bury her,
20:15for after all,
20:16she was a king's daughter.
20:19But when they went
20:20to bury her,
20:21they found nothing left
20:22but the skull,
20:23feet and palms
20:24of the hands.
20:26When they went back
20:27and told him,
20:28he said,
20:28The Lord's word
20:30through his servant
20:31Elijah the Tishbite
20:32has come to pass.
20:34He warned,
20:36In the plot of land
20:37of Jezreel,
20:38dogs will devour
20:39Jezebel's flesh.
20:41Jezebel's corpse
20:42will be like manure
20:43on the surface
20:44of the ground
20:45in the plot of land
20:46of Jezreel.
20:48People will not even
20:49be able to recognise her.
20:52This is the word
20:54of the Lord.
20:55Thanks be to God.
21:12Mary said,
21:14My soul exalts the Lord
21:16and my spirit
21:18has begun to rejoice
21:19in God my Saviour
21:20because he has looked
21:23upon the humble state
21:24of his servant.
21:27For from now on
21:28all generations
21:29will call me blessed
21:30because he who is mighty
21:33has done great things
21:34for me
21:35and holy is his name.
21:38From generation
21:39to generation
21:40he is merciful
21:41to those who fear him.
21:44He has demonstrated
21:45power with his arm.
21:48He has scattered
21:49those whose pride
21:50wells up
21:51from the sheer arrogance
21:52of their hearts.
21:54He has brought down
21:55the mighty
21:56from their thrones
21:57and has lifted up
21:58those of lowly position.
22:00He has filled
22:01the hungry
22:02with good things
22:03and has sent
22:04the rich away empty.
22:07He has helped
22:08his servant Israel
22:09remembering his mercy
22:11as he promised
22:13to our ancestors
22:14to Abraham
22:15and to his descendants
22:17for ever.
22:19Glory be to the Father
22:21and to the Son
22:22and to the Holy Spirit.
22:24as it was in the beginning
22:26is now
22:27and ever shall be
22:28world without end.
22:31Amen.
22:42The epistle to the Hebrews
22:45chapter 6
22:49therefore we must progress
22:51beyond the elementary
22:53instructions about Christ
22:54and move on to maturity
22:56not laying this foundation
22:58again
22:59repentance from dead works
23:02and faith in God
23:03teaching about ritual washing
23:05laying on of hands
23:07resurrection of the dead
23:08and eternal judgment.
23:12this is what we intend to do
23:14if God permits
23:16for it is impossible
23:17in the case of those
23:18who have once been enlightened
23:19tasted the heavenly gift
23:22and to become partakers
23:23of the Holy Spirit
23:25tasted the good word of God
23:27and the miracles of the coming age
23:29and then
23:31to have committed apostasy
23:33to renew them again
23:35to repentance
23:35since they are crucified
23:37in the Son of God
23:37for themselves
23:38all over again
23:39and holding him
23:41to contempt.
23:43For the ground
23:44that has soaked up
23:45the rain
23:46that frequently falls on it
23:47and yields useful vegetation
23:49for those who tend it
23:51receives a blessing
23:52from God.
23:54But if it produces
23:56thorns and thistles
23:57it is useless
23:58and about to be cursed
23:59its fate
24:01is to be burnt.
24:03But in your case
24:04dear friends
24:05even though we speak like this
24:06we are convinced
24:07of better things
24:08relating to salvation.
24:11For God is not unjust
24:13so as to forget
24:14your work
24:15and the love
24:15you have demonstrated
24:16for his name
24:17in serving
24:19and continuing
24:20to serve the saints.
24:23But we passionately
24:25want each of you
24:26to demonstrate
24:26the same eagerness
24:27for the fulfilment
24:29of your hope
24:29until the end
24:30that you may not be sluggish
24:32but imitators
24:34of those who
24:34through faith
24:35and perseverance
24:37inherit the promises.
24:40Now when God
24:41made his promise
24:42to Abraham
24:43since he would swear
24:45by no one greater
24:46he swore by himself
24:47saying
24:48Surely I will bless you
24:50greatly
24:51and multiply
24:52your descendants abundantly
24:53and so by persevering
24:56Abraham inherited
24:58the promise
24:59for people swear
25:01by something greater
25:02than themselves
25:02and the oath
25:04serves as confirmation
25:05to end all dispute.
25:08In the same way
25:09God wanted to demonstrate
25:10more clearly
25:11to the heirs
25:12of the promise
25:12that his purpose
25:14was unchangeable
25:15and so he intervened
25:17with an oath
25:18that we
25:20who have found
25:21refuge in him
25:22may find strong
25:23encouragement
25:24to hold fast
25:25to the hope
25:26set before us
25:28through two

25:37for the soul
25:38sure and steadfast
25:39which reaches inside
25:41behind the curtain
25:42where Jesus
25:43our forerunner
25:44entered on
25:45our behalf
25:46since he became
25:48a priest forever
25:49in the order
25:50of Melchizedek.
